Absolutely the best music festival I've ever been to. I liked the city feel. Alabama Shakes front row made my life complete!

Rating: 5 out of 5by Alabamashakesfan on 10/2/15Boston City Hall Plaza - Boston Rating: 5 out of 5 Perfect Weekend!
by Ladidadida on 10/2/15Boston City Hall Plaza - BostonThis was my third time attending Boston Calling, and while I've loved every one I've been to, this one was definitely my favorite. The lineup was really solid and every band delivered an incredible performance. It's now been a week and I still can't stop thinking about it and smiling. It was truly a fun and beautiful weekend and I know I will remember it for the rest of my life.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Good festival overall, headliners were fantastic
by magicalkels on 10/2/15Boston City Hall Plaza - BostonBoston Calling puts on a good urban festival experience. They moved the dates to later in September this year, I believe to attract more college students. This definitely showed and I felt like Saturday was far more crowded than past Boston Callings. Sunday's crowd was much more laid back. The amount of food vendors, beer vendors, and bathrooms were very adequate for the crowds and I never had to wait more than a few minutes for anything. There were plenty of open spaces, TVs, and games too for anyone that needed a break from the standing-room crowds. Seeing the bands, as with any GA show or festival, required some strategizing and spot-saving for the more popular acts, for example I ended up missing Chvrches set to stake out a good spot for Alt-J. Performance-wise, all the acts were at the top of their game. The bill was a good mix of indie and electronic flavored acts on Saturday and rock/soul acts on Sunday. Father John Misty and Walk the Moon were surprise hits for me. The real draw for me was Alt-J, the Saturday headliner. Hozier and Alabama Shakes were also amazing, although I was a tad disappointed that Alabama Shakes didn't play more from their first record. Overall great experience and looking forward to the line-up for Boston Calling VII.
Rating: 5 out of 5 2015 Fall Boston Calling
by EOTU on 10/2/15Boston City Hall Plaza - BostonI don't understand what happened with Alabama Shakes - there was painful feedback and Brittany's voice is so awesome that I was crushed when it happened during their set! The last one of the entire weekend. What about a feedback eliminator or something. Otherwise, the lineups and music were fantastic, per usual.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Lots of amazing shows
by RedPandasAreNeat on 10/2/15Boston City Hall Plaza - BostonMy favorite artists all had some amazing performances. However, I dropped it down one star because there were way too many people in there and not enough space around the stages for each performance - everyone had to pack together like sardines and even then you couldn't see anything and there were people who still could only stand far off and just listen. I think the performance area needs a better design to accommodate for the ridiculous amount of people they let in. Of course, this was only an issue for the major headliners that started in the late afternoon.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Maybe I'm new...
by peanutbutterperson on 10/1/15Boston City Hall Plaza - BostonAll right, so this was my first music festival. I wanted to go specifically to see Hozier, because he wouldn't be coming to my area any time soon. So, I decided to fly out to Boston and grab a ticket. I did this about two/three weeks before the actual concert. So I spent about 500 bucks getting the ticket and the flight and food and that good stuff. Five days before, they post the lineup. Maybe it's because I'm new to this sort of thing, but it seems that should've gone up way earlier. I live in DC and have a full time job and graduate school I have to get to, so I bought a flight for 9 PM that Sunday night. Big mistake, because Hozier went on at 8:15. No way I could have made my flight if I wanted to go see him. Tried to change the flight, but no dice. I wouldn't have spent so much money to go and see bands that I'm not as fond of if I had known. Boston Calling, please release your set list earlier than five days beforehand - some of us have lives to plan for! Otherwise, this was a nice event in a fairly safe area of the city.
Rating: 5 out of 5 Boston Calling continues to exceed expecations
by haiminahaimina on 10/1/15Boston City Hall Plaza - BostonThis music festival is a treat for Boston. This last September one may be the best one yet. Everything is very well organized, timely, and friendly. Everyone is in a great mood the entire weekend. And the musical acts are incredible. Thank you, Boston Calling!
Rating: 4 out of 5 Loved Ben Howard
by Cannotbelievethis on 10/1/15Boston City Hall Plaza - BostonI liked Ben Howard before the show and by the end absolutely loved him. I will say right away that I only went to this concert to see Ben Howard but we were there all day Sunday..daughter was great. Very "real" . I have to say that once it got dark and the music began there were times when the smell of marajuana was very overwhelming and we were there with a ten year old. I'm not sure how they can control this but it was heavy at times. Now I'm over 50 and the general age was mid 20's so I do think the smoke was most likely welcomed or at least not an issue. My concert partner made a funny statement, "I feel like we have entered a giant urban outfitters" (mid 20's..lol)...everyone was dressed in their clothing. I thought the selection of food was really really good. I was impressed and I'm very picky and like to eat healthy and there were good options.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Eh
by BostonKB on 10/1/15Boston City Hall Plaza - BostonIt did not feel like there was much variety or diversity in the artists who performed. I have been to several other BC events and this was the least exciting. The music was good, I didn't really observe any poor performances, it just was not very different from performance to performance.
Rating: 3 out of 5 Lineup was weak this fall
by SilverSideDown on 10/1/15Boston City Hall Plaza - BostonLineup was very weak this time around. I skipped Friday and only saw the headliner Sunday, Alabama Shakes. Having said that, they were awesome, and Sat had a lot of good acts, particularly Chvrches and Father John Misty. I think I got my money's worth, but it was not as overwhelmingly good as some of the previous ones. I would still buy a discount ticket for next time though, at this point.
