The concert was amazing both the opener and Tkay killed it! They are amazing performers and I can’t wait to see her again.
Let’s start with the most chill venue I’ve ever been in - Brighton Music Hall. An intimate setting with 500 capacity, there is still plenty of room for dancing. The staff are kind and responsive, provide free water cups at the bar, and the bathrooms are easily accessible and clean. The stage is small and close, enough for a small band or DJ/individual artist. The lights, sound and decor were well maintained and specific to the show. Only bummer was the right speaker seemed slightly blown out. Now for the performance - opened with Tayla Parx who played Little Inez in Hairspray! It was crazy seeing her grown up and killing it in life, creating and writing music not only for herself but other artists including Jojo and Panic! at the Disco. Her vocal range is insane. Then comes out DJ Pia B serving the best mashups of today’s trending hip hop & R&B, hyping us up for Tkay! The most life-changing musical experience in my 30 years on earth. Tkay engaged the crowd, got us pumped, bouncing, even opened the PIT! We stayed safe and happy, dancing our hearts out in the crowd. Tkay crowd-surfed and lost a few acrylic nails, humoring us as she resurfaced to the stage, laughing “wait, I have 2 nails left on this hand right now, yo, these nails were so pretty like what the hell” - absolute magic. Her music’s variety has no end - we’re in a trance, then we’re moshing, then we’re slow dancing, then we’re poppin’ it! I’d see her 100 times again. 100/10 🙌
I’ve been to a lot of gigs, especially since they’ve been allowed to start again after covid. However, there was something incredibly special about this show. Tkay’s charisma and talent paired with her infectiously feel good tunes turned the Bowery Ballroom into a magical night that I’ll never forget. The venue is also beautiful and is somewhere I’ll continue to go to.
