About

Black Country, New Road on Tour

A pleasantly unfamiliar and polylithic sound comes for the alternative band Black Country, New Road. Combining the genres of jazz, post-punk and experimental rock, this group's unique music has led them to become a promising new band in the English rock scene. Consisting of May Kershaw (keyboards), Lewis Evans (vocals/saxophone), Tyler Hyde (bass), and Georgia Ellery (violin), Black Country, New Road is an amalgam of sound and excitement. Their current 2022 world tour across Europe and North America follows the release of their album, Ants From Up There (2022). The group gained notoriety after their two singles, "Sunglasses" and "Athen's, France" became hits in 2019. Black Country, New Road then released their debut album, For the First Time, in 2021 and their second album Ants From Up There in 2022.

Black Country, New Road was founded in London, England, in 2018. Many of the band's members were part of the disbanded rock group, Nervous Conditions. Black Country, New Road quickly landed critically acclaimed success. Their first album, For the First Time, was nominated for the prestigious Mercury Music Prize, and was listed as No. 4 on the UK album charts. Their success continued as their sophomore album, Ants From Up There, was widely popular, being named a New York Times Critic's Pick. Black Country, New Road's members have a strong bond with each other, having been friends since high school. This strong bond has kept them going through the adversity they faced when original member and lead vocalist, Isaac Wood, stepped down from the band due to personal reasons in early 2022. The band was forced to split the lead vocals amongst themselves for their 2022 tours. Despite the sudden lineup change, Black Country, New Road is a widely impressive new group that continues to mesmerize fan from across the world. With already more than 410,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, Black Country, New Road are at the forefront of becoming one of the greatest bands of its generation.
