- Reviewed in the United States on October 27, 2020Color: BlueVerified PurchaseI love the sound quality of the PX5! They are on-ear headphones, so the cups are not as large as on the PX7, but that’s okay because the PX7 were a bit heavy for me, which would have made extended listening sessions quite tiring. The padding on the PX5 was firm but gave just enough to make them quite comfortable. I also like the wireless feature when I listen to music on Spotify from my iPhone. I would definitely recommend these headphones.

Regrettably, I have some bad news. When using this for calls, I was told I sound monotone (narrow mic frequency range), quite muffled, and was asked to repeat myself numerous times, to the point I just put the headphones down and used my phone. Seriously disappointing for $300 and something advertised as lifestyle-friendly. No word from Bowers & Wilkins on any possible updates to fix this or if it's just a limitation (or defect) of the hardware. -1 Star
ORIGINAL REVIEW
I own the P7 Wireless, which are a great set of wireless cans. The only issue is they do not have ANC.
I previously had the PX, which sounded great, but they did depart a bit from the typical Bowers & Wilkins house sound. Also, the sound was dramatically affected when ANC was turned on, which was a huger bummer. Comfort? Well, the PX were not very comfortable.
On to the PX5 and PX7. I demoed both of them at the same time at a local big box store and enjoyed the PX5 more. While the PX7 was overall more immersive, I found the PX5 was ever so slightly more refined. I just enjoyed the PX5 more and felt was just a bit more precise. I also prefer the look of the PX5 over the PX7.
If you've ever spent time listening to Bowers & Wilkins headphones, you know they excel with strong, yet defined bass, a smooth & natural mid range, and detailed highs. The PX5 is no different. The sound absolutely fantastic with impeccable layering of instruments that really give you that "live" feeling.
For the record, I do not have a large head (I think I have a "normal" sized head), so comfort for me is good. They are secure, but not too tight. To given you an idea, I was able to wear these for the duration of the workday (took them off for lunch, of course) and I did not get fatigued. They were also stable enough to use for weightlifting at the gym.
ANC, although not as strong as the Sony 1000XM3, is still very effective. Also, the good news this time around, is the ANC has very little effect on sound, in fact, most people I let listen to the PX5 could not hear a difference in sound quality with ANC on or ANC off.
Build quality is just marvelous. Nothing to really elaborate on here!
Overall, for $299, these compete directly with the Beats Solo Pro. While the Solo Pro are better than the Solo 3 and decent headphones in their own right, the PX5 are just on another level and a strong recommendation for audiophiles on the go. Honestly, these are the best on-ear headphones on the market.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2020Color: Space GreyVerified PurchaseThis are a pair of nice looking headphones, which also sound good, but device switching between two connected Bluetooth devices is really slow and the worst part is that the wired connection via usb-c or 3.5mm audio cable is really faulty. If you move the headphones slightly while having them connected via wire it will disconnect, so this makes the headphones really unreliable for listening to music via a 3.5mm wire or charging them via usb-c. So basically the two main reasons I bought this pair of headphones is not working. Headphones get uncomfortable on the ears and top of my head after wearing them for about 30 minutes or so. Noise cancelation is weak, even at the highest setting. So sadly I have them on my desk without using them, I guess it's back to looking for a better option that works reliably.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2019Color: BlueVerified PurchaseFirst of all, I ordered blue but received black, so I'm gonna return the wrongly sent out item.
Then, the sound quality is crazily impressive as usual. I like B&W because the sound is way better than what offered by BOSE and SONY. The noice cancelling is improved as well, since I tried at home while turning on the air conditioner. I feel nothing but the music when the cancelling turned on. Definitely better than PX, the previous version.
Cons:
1. The design of PX5 seems to aim for people with smaller heads/light hair... I cannot wear it comfortably since the clamping force is so strong that I feel pain on my head. However, I don't think it would be a problem for those who have a smaller head.
2. It's still a little heavier than Sony XM3, as the materials are metal like Carbon Fiber, which is more luxury than plastic like in Sonny XM3.
I generally like this product but it is not a fit for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2020Color: Space GreyVerified PurchaseThese are a good pair of headphones. Only issue is with the "wired" option. Bluetooth works like a charm. When I tried to set it up to work in wired mode on my wife's macbook, it was hard to do so. We gave up.

5.0 out of 5 stars All I need... audiophile wireless headphones for a reasonable price
Color: Space GreyVerified PurchaseMy learning about wireless headphones is that - 1. like any modern technology they are always evolving 2. buy into the most recent technology at the risk of your own bank account! For me, I am an audiophile on a budget and so I did a LOT of research - I wanted specific things in a wireless set without breaking the bank. I decided I wanted 2 sets! One as a higher quality set for indoor listening and another set for outdoors/in motion. This B&W on-ear set was bought for indoor purposes by design. Specifically, and as of March 2021, these qualities were: 1. bluetooth 5.0 (the best bt connection standard at the time of this review). 2. Aptx-hd and/or LDAC codecs compatible (for hi res music) 3. Superior noise cancelling 4. Reasonable price (subjective - these were comparable to the more expensive PX7s with most of the same quality and features. 5. Sound Excellence - to me (completely subjective) and at least CD quality (certainly better than mp3). 6. Comfortable (totally subjective) and the memory foam on the ear pieces is quite wonderful as well as sound isolating on its own. 7. Decent battery life - a positive check here as this set has excellent battery life specs that hold true in my experience so far. These B&Ws are 5 solid stars for indoors which is what I wanted. No weaknesses on any of these key considerations for me. My outdoor/in motion set of wireless phones are 1MORE Dual Drivers also purchased from Amazon (see my separate review) which are excellent for those purposes. But these B&Ws are heaven on my ears! They sound fantastic, feel fantastic and as long as they last (or until there is some fab new technology) I am an ecstatic audio camper! However, at the end of the day, your wireless headphone mileage may vary because they are SO darned subjective AND the goal posts of technology keep changing. Just sharing my experiences and hope they are helpful to others. Happy audio hunting!

1.0 out of 5 stars Rozczarowanie

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic(al) balance for Western ears!
Color: BlueVerified PurchaseI confess to having a pet hate for headphones whose sound spectrum/tuning is aimed at giving a very punchy bass and a tamed top-end, a view I suspect not many people share. I listen to music of very many types but my first love is 'classical' orchestral and chamber music. (I am a violinist.)
These headphones are beautifully tuned to reproduce both orchestral and chamber music as if the listener were present in a concert hall with no amplified enhancements to the acoustic. The sound across the audible spectrum is balanced and natural, with crystal clear treble, a clean mid-range and balanced bass.
I have not made much use of the ANC but I didn't feel that the audio spectrum was changing markedly when I turned it on, just the suppression of external 'noises off'.
I really prefer on-ear (supra-aural) headphones to those which surround and enclose the ear, where the over-heating of my ears becomes a source of much discomfort. The first time I wore these, they did seem to hold tightly to my head (but still in a comfortable way), where now I hardly notice. I suspect that this is less to do with the headphones loosening up and more to my accommodation of the effect over time.
The pads are soft and giving, which means the seal is good over the ears and I do not find the weight at all troubling. This, of course leads to good audio isolation without recourse to the ANC, though some external sound can be heard. I have not yet tried themwith the ANC in a really noisy environment but they manage capably to shut out the noise of our washing machine if I wear them while doing the washing up!
I love the sound balance as described above whether I am listening to 'classical' music or rock, folk, jazz, where the natural balance still pleases me. My own speakers are bass-reflex (Q Acoustics 3020i) and I do not use any kind of sub-woofer: this probably tells you all you need to know about my sonic preferences. The B & W PX5s are a perfect complement to my 'room' audio setup.
They *do* look beautiful too!

2.0 out of 5 stars Soddisfatto a metà
