SPOON IN CONCERT:

Veteran art rockers Spoon continue to enjoy both indie cred and mainstream popularity, entering their third decade together as one of independent music's most visible crossover successes. As creative in concert as they are in the studio, the band has earned a reputation as a consummate live act, consistently thrilling fans on their critically acclaimed tours with ambitious renditions of fan favorites like "I Turn My Camera On" and "Stay Don't Go". Whether they're treating ticket buyers to cuts from 2014's They Want My Soul or covering bands like the Smiths and Guided by Voices, Spoon brings a passion and energy to the stage that always elevate their shows to the next level.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Spoon was formed in Austin in 1993 by lead singer and guitarist Britt Daniel and drummer Jim Eno. Following a 1994 EP release the band signed to Matador Records, debuting their first full-length album Telephono to mixed reviews in 1996. By the time the band released the Soft Effects EP in 1997 they had begun to hone in on the more polished, minimal sound they would become known for, but it wasn't until they released the album Girls Can Tell in 2001 that they finally achieved breakthrough success. A string of critically and commercially successful albums followed throughout the decade, including two No. 1 records on the Top Independent Albums chart -- 2005's Gimme Fiction and 2007's Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga. With their highly anticipated eighth album They Want My Soul hitting shelves in 2014, Spoon has fans eagerly awaiting their next live shows.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Spoon was excellent. Tight, professional. Brit rocked the house. They played old as well as new material."

"I highly recommend seeing them live, because they're fantastic musicians and they play a very interesting set as compared to their albums."

"Spoon's show was as awesome and intricate as their complex studio albums! To be able to pull off the complexity of their studio recordings live was amazing to hear and see. They were so tight and I don't think they made a mistake, and the light show was awesome as well."

Great show but over by 9:00???

by Mil on 9/19/239:30 CLUB - WASHINGTON

Great show but over by 9:00?? It’s called the 9:30 club…They/you should have been much clearer about Spoon starting at 7:30 promptly and that it had to end by 9 because a totally different concert started at 10 and you had to clear the venue.

    Fantastic Show!

by Giant on 9/19/239:30 CLUB - WASHINGTON

Another excellent Spoon show at my favorite venue. Early start and finish due to pre-scheduled Dance Party at the 9:30. The Oranges Band were also good.

    Best show yet!

by Bev B on 9/18/239:30 CLUB - WASHINGTON

We were fortunate enough to see Spoon twice within a month! The show in Abiquiu was absolutely fabulous, but the 9/15 show at the 930 club was nothing short of amazing! I love the energy and the spontaneity! It was really awesome that the setlists were completely different. Can't wait to see them again!

Perfect Rock Band at the perfect Rock Venue

by CozLC on 9/18/239:30 CLUB - WASHINGTON

I have wanted to see Spoon live for 10+ years and I was so glad I went to this show. I took my 14yo daughter who is also a fan with me, perched ourselves on the balcony rail and never left our spots.. opener (great to see the Oranges Band for the first time since I lived in Baltimore 20+ years ago) through the generous encore.

    Fantastic band, fantastic show

by SteveW on 9/18/239:30 CLUB - WASHINGTON

Stellar performance by one of the best Indie bands working. Although they played a good handful of songs from their very strong latest album, one of the best things is that Spoon didn't - like a lot of bands releasing new material - play 50% or 2/3 new stuff and a smattering of other hits. Instead they drew from their full catalog over 20+ years. And as always, they play with heart and sound great live!

    Spoon Is Must-See!

    by jtfLive on 8/24/23

Spoon was even better than expected. So tight! Great stage/effects. They seemed to love the crowd... and the crowd certainly loved them. Hopefully it won't be another 6 years until I see them again! On a side note... the Spokane Knitting Factory needs a facelift! The place is getting very tired... feels and seems more like a cattle barn. The restroom next to the District Bar had a terrible urine stench that wafted thru the whole Knit venue. I absolutely love the District/Knit setup. PLEASE CLEAN THE PLACE UP!!!

Great Show, Thanks for Coming to Charleston

by Wendy M on 5/2/23Music Farm - Charleston

What a treat! Spoon came to Charleston! We did not have to drive hours away to different states to see them. I had written on a review of Charleston Music Hall (the people who run the Music Farm) that I would love to see Spoon when they asked who else I would like to see. The next thing I know, they are announcing a stop in Charleston! This is the third time we saw Spoon, and they did not disappoint. The only complication is their transportation had an issue - SC roads? - which pushed back the show by an hour, but it was Saturday night, so that was not a deal breaker. I did have a full day of school the next day (getting my Ph.D.), but hey, it was Spoon. It was worth being tired the next day, and they did not disappoint. They played a great set, with songs from their entire catalogue, everything from Jonathan Fisk, to Got Nuffin, to Wild. I want to say there was a song from the earliest albums, but I have not gone back and listened for it yet. They were animated and seemed to have a great time playing. I want to know what the lit up box thing was in their equipment. Was that the sound effects box? Or some sort of Tardis? They went for a nice solid 1 1/2 hours. Of course, we wanted them to play longer, but that is us being a bit greedy. Maybe it is kind of nerdy on my part, but I was hoping to meet them and get their autographs, but they left and the roadies were breaking down equipment, quickly. It was 11:35pm. I guess that was the universe telling me to go home and get some rest. I hope they felt the love from all of us in Charleston and make us a regular stop on their tours. We have the original award-winning Rodney Scott BBQ, and Bill Murray. I already cannot wait to see them again. Thank you for the great night! The venue was great. Music Farm did a revamp of the place, and the flow was much better, and the bathrooms were cleaner. The bouncers/security were very nice. It was easy ordering a cocktail at the bar, and the place is cashless, which is fine with me. I will definitely go back to the Farm for another show.

Spoon at Tannahill's Tavern in Fort Worth

by Winston Wolf on 10/25/22Tannahill's Tavern and Music Hall - Fort Worth

Spoon exceeds expectations every time I see them. My 14-year-old daughter joined me, her first concert and she had a blast. Spoon A+, Venue C
