Product Description
Through a well-heard history and deep roots in Brooklyn, the Grado family has been hand building headphones and cartridges here since 1953. For three generations, tradition and heritage have been carried down with the philosophy that sound comes first.
SR60X Prestige Series
Bang for the Buck
Sounds Affordable.
The entry-level headphone in the Brooklyn lineup, the SR60x proves the Grado sound is never out of reach.
The simplest way to experience Grado sound, the SR60x produces an impressive soundstage in an affordable headphone.
Signature Sound
The clarity and range of Grado headphones can reveal new notes and details in songs heard hundreds of times. The driver and housing working in tandem react to sound vibrations and virtually eliminate transient distortions. With harmonic colors, full bodied vocals, and a world renowned mid-range, the SR60x produces easily obtainable Grado sound.
X Series Driver
4th Generation Grado drivers are here. Specifically tuned for the SR60x, this new speaker design features a more powerful magnetic circuit, a voice coil with decreased effective mass, and a reconfigured diaphragm. Reengineering these components for our 44mm drivers improve efficiency, reduces distortion, and preserves the harmonic integrity of your music.
New Cables & Headband
Along with the speakers, the cables and headband have been redesigned for the SR60x. Now housed in a more durable exterior, the 4-conductor cable features a super annealed copper wire for improved purity of the audio signal. The new headband features more cushion for a comfier experience.
Hand-Built in Brooklyn
Each SR60x is hand-built by our team in Brooklyn. This headphone goes from workbench to workbench until it’s ready for your ears. We started building on a kitchen table in 1953, and every experience since then has led to the creation of the SR60x.

I have had these headphones for years now. Unfortunately, I have to dock a star and retract my comments on build quality - these simply have not held up over the three years I’ve had them. The pads fall off constantly, the hinges are creaky, the earcups won’t stay in place, and the headband is tearing and falling off. These headphones have stayed at my desk almost the entire time I’ve used them.
They still sound phenomenal and for the price they’re great, but unfortunately at this price point you do sacrifice a lot in build quality to get that sound. Still a recommended buy as an entry level headphone pair. Otherwise, buy something nicer.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
——————/——————
SOUND QUALITY: Phenomenal. Great resolution, soundstage is /meh/ but at $100 you’re still getting more than what you pay for. Has the “Grado sound” of sparkly treble, but I found that after a little break-in period the treble really lends itself to critical-ish listening of jazz, pop, vocal music, movies, etc.
CONSTRUCTION QUALITY: Mostly plastic and some metal in the headband, but it’s not the chintzy dollar store plastic that creaks in your hands - solid-feeling molded plastic that maintains integrity without the weight. Headphone cables are hilariously overbuilt and mean these are probably completely bomb-proof. Loses points for no detachable cable.
NOISE CANCELLATION/BLOCKING: Haha, no.
WHAT THESE ARE: Good headphones for home or (quiet) office use, for those who appreciate high-quality sound at a very impressive price. Did I mention they’re made in the USA?
WHAT THESE AREN’T: Workout headphones or going-around-town headphones. These stay plugged into an amp or computer and only get moved when it’s time to leave for the day. Buy some AirPods Pro to cover the rest of your bases.
VALUE: Some of the best damn bang for your buck you can get.
One drawback, though, is that their open design will diminish some of the enjoyment you get when out on a hike. Even in the park. Sound leaks in and raises the noise floor. However, it is not advisable to compensate with higher volume. For the health of your hearing.
I therefore wish that the wizards at Grado would use their expertise to try and implement the same sound into closed cans with active noise cancellation. Preferably on-ears. Also, make sure that headphone-volume measuring apps gives a correct reading of the Grados specifically(not only Beats or earpods).
Oh, and I use the Yaxi pads for Porta Pro on my Grados.

These headphones sound extremely well. I enjoy them as much, or even more than my Denon-ahd5200(599,- euro), my PSB M4U(399,- euro) or my HiFiMan HE400SE(139,- euro).
They are mabybe not the most neutral or technical but boy oh boy are these cans fun to listen to!
When lying in bed I can just listen to them hour after hour.
I also tested his big brother (SR325X 399,- euro) but the SR60X almost sound the same and are just as fun to listen to. My first Grado and I am hooked to the “Grado sound”.
This is a no brainer.
In for a headphone and you have the budget? Buy the SR60X!!!
