Description

This product may have minor visual imperfections, though this will not affect the product's performance.

The 5-quart Tall Cocotte is a taller version of the classic 4-quart cocotte, making it the ideal tool for cooking larger quantities, without taking up valuable stovetop space. The additional height is especially useful in cooking bone-in meat cuts like crown roasts as well as layered dishes like tians, or dishes that rise, such as soufflés. Plus, the added height reduces the risk of liquids boiling over and reduces splatter when deep-frying or searing.

Like all STAUB cocottes, the Tall Cocotte is unsurpassed for slow-cooking meats and vegetables to tender perfection, and for simmering hearty stews and soups. Cast iron possesses exceptional heat-retaining qualities, so the pot heats evenly throughout. With a heavy weight, tight-fitting lid that retains moisture and tiny spikes on the lid interior that create a rain-forest effect evenly returning juices back onto food, you can expect moist, perfectly cooked food every time you use this pan.

Rooted in French culinary heritage, STAUB cookware is beloved by professional and home chefs for its exquisite craftsmanship, exceptional performance, and timeless beauty. Each STAUB cocotte effortlessly and elegantly transitions from the oven to the table - you can cook and serve in the same dish. These heirloom pieces can be lovingly passed from generation to generation.

  • 5-quart cocotte for soups, stews, and braises and deep-frying without messy stove splatters
  • Ideal for cooking tall bone-in cuts, layered dishes, and desserts that rise
  • Large capacity and slim profile that doesn’t take up valuable stovetop space and stores efficiently
  • Textured black matte enamel interior requires no seasoning and ensures exceptional browning, and heat retention and distribution
  • Smooth enamel bottom works on all stovetops, including induction
  • Heavy weight, tight-fitting lid retains moisture, spikes on the lid create a rain-forest effect evenly returning juices back onto food
  • Oven safe up to 500°F
  • Dishwasher safe, hand wash recommended
  • Made in France

Staub Cast Iron 5-qt Tall Cocotte - Graphite - Visual Imperfections is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love this for the price! Can’t beat the value and functionality of this French oven! The lid seals tightly, so there’s no drippy mess on my stovetop, and it retains heat very well. I made a pot of potato and corn chowder in it, on medium-low heat (electric stovetop), and nothing stuck to the bottom. That’s a first! Creamed soups are notorious for burning on the bottom, and it takes near constant stirring to keep that from happening. Not with this oven! As for the visible imperfections, there were three, one on the lid (and mottled glaze patch) and the other two on the pot (a pinhole in the glaze and a 2-inch strip of mottled glaze). The first two imperfections are barely noticeable, but the third is obvious. The rim and possibly sidewall thickness is Inconsistent, as well, but I don’t *think* that will cause an issue. I still love the piece, and I’m glad I bought it. But be aware that the warranty doesn’t cover these B-grade items.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Looking Cocotte Actually a great looking cocotte. I bought because of the product's look and Staub reputation. I had to look hard to find the imperfection: a tiny chip on the rim of the base that exposed the base metal. Hope it will not start to rust, because it has a "B" sticker, and the Care and Use Mini Book that was enclosed stated ''The STAUB warranty does not apply to "B-goods." '' (this should have been spelled out in the on-line product description, although I doubt it will ever be an issue.) I haven't actually used it yet, but sure looking forward to it. I love the results of slow cooking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great addition I am in love with this deep version of the coquette. Perfect size for cooking pasta or for a larger ham bone for a pot of beans. I didn’t think I would need the deeper pot as I have always loved my regular 5 qt but I have used this more times than I can count since purchasing. Great addition to my Staub collection. It was listed as imperfections and does have some small bubbling in the enamel on the inside bottom but not enough to really notice or mess with cooking. I can’t wait to try a boule of sourdough in this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Size Not only is this a perfect size for frequent use, but it is a handsome pot! I added the snail knob and it is a stunner. So pretty that it lives on the stovetop. I found no issues that impacted the performance of the pot. Very pleased with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Baking bread in my cocotte Looks great. Had to really look for the “imperfection!” Just baked my first boule and it came out nice and crusty.
