Cooking from scratch is made easier with a stand mixer, and made all the more literal with this grain mill attachment. Use it to make flour out of wheat, corn, rye, oats, rice, buckwheat, barley, and millet--any low-moisture, non-oily grain (peanuts and coffee are a no-no with this tool). Make up to 10 cups at a time. The mill is sturdy, heavy, and easy to assemble and attach to the mixer's hub. Adjust the knob to the desired grind, fill the unit with grains, and crank it up to 10. When you're through, brush it clean with the small brush included in the kit. If you need to, wash it by hand, but don't put it in the dishwasher. --Betsy Danheim

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price.
Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2023
All metal, which I love. Easy to take apart for cleaning. Includes a little brush for brushing the flour out during cleaning. Per instructions: Grind speed must be at 10. You can only grind 9 cups at a time and then you need to rest your machine for 45 minutes. I'm sure ambient/room temperature impacts this. I'm using it to grind my own sprouted wheat. The results are not uniform. You need to send it through multiple times to get a consistent grind. When you try to send the finest ground flour through a second time to make the flour a consistent texture, the flour will bunch up and it won't feed through unless I move it around to keep it loose. It's a little bit of a hassle, but loads better than manual grinding it with our Country Living Grain Mill.

Photos: 1. Coarse grind, you still get whole berries coming through. 2. Fine, but not the finest and still inconsistent. 3. That's the setting I was using for the previous photos and I'd sent it through once. 4. Finest grind, flour sent through twice so it's uniform. 5. First loaf of sprouted bread I made. Love the results, so it's worth the hassle given our limited budget.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2023
Tldr: save yourself the money on your poor, expensive mixer and get a different mill.

I gave it a shot despite the consistency in the negative reviews. I shouldn't have. This mill makes my mixer run very hot very quickly and the documentation says to let it cool down for 45 minutes after 5 minutes of work! Very slow work with not much floir produced, I might add. That's too long for too little for me when you bake and cook a lot.

Documentation says to not grind anything oily or with moisture. What I attempted to grind had no oil or moisture. Other reviews/questions say chickpeas should be fine. They apparently are not. No, I did not use whole chickpeas. I used the tiny, dried leftovers my food processor couldn't blast to flour. I bought this mill to save my food processor. Shouldn't have bothered.

Did it grind the chickpea bits into flour? Kind of. Static electricity from the grinding friction caked up in the mill and I had to take it apart to get anything out of it. That's when I discovered the burrs had apparently been grinding on themselves. See the photo. The hopper wasn't empty and I sat there babysitting it making sure the screw was constantly being fed. So the burrs shouldn't have been grinding on themselves that hard. They're steel, by the way, so that's even more disappointingly impressive.

I bought the protection plan but they say to contact Amazon. Amazon says to contact KitchenAid (the number they give is disconnected). KitchenAid was no help either. So I'm just returning it.
