Same thing with this unit & it takes even less of the total combined ingredients than the total weight of two scoops of ground coffee! SO AWESOME!
So, I just make three batches to ALMOST completely fill the carafe & then I set it in the fridge to chill overnight while I am also anxiously waiting for the next morning to come so I can finally have a bowl of cereal without all the after effects of cows milk. Yes, I am lactose intolerant to a high degree but as I already stated, it's like having a coffee maker but it doesn't make coffee, it makes several kinds of plant based milk & it works so easily with so few ingredients.
For a 20 once batch, all need is a tablespoon of the prime ingredient & a teaspoon of rice, a few shakes of the salt shaker & half a table spoon of sugar to get rid of any bitter taste. Close the lid - set the machine for whatever plant based milk that you want & once you start it, just walk away for about 16 minutes & its done.
3 batches later & the carafe that I bought to complement my soy milk maker is full enough to my satisfaction for me to chill it in the fridge. Having a second independent timer to remind you when its done, is also helpful although, at one point in the cycle, unless you have your TV on high volume, its almost impossible to not hear it making a loud whirring sound when it gets close to finishing.
And that sound is brief but it isn't unbearably loud. The frequency of the vibrations is hard not to notice if I'm in another part of my home. The rest of the time, it is whisper quiet & it only takes 16 minutes for a 20 ounce batch so after about a little more than a hour, I I have enough milk made to last me close to 3 days if I am only pouring it on my cereal & maybe only a day if I were to drink it directly without my usual morning bowl.
Any way you view it, it takes me back to the old days when milk was delivered to your door in those old glass bottles & kept chilled until it was time to set it out for use at the table.
The best tip of all, even if I was hooked up to the city water, which I'm not (I have a well-water source electrically pumped into my house) I would still use my Zero water filtration reservoir because while I don't like iron water in my coffee maker or ice maker, I definitely don't want chlorinated soy milk on my cereal or even if I just drink it straight from a glass.
So, regardless of if you have city water or not, invest in a Zero water filtration pitcher at the very least when you buy this machine because it will last longer & the plant based milk made from it, will definitely taste better.
Forgive me for such a long winded review but this new machine kicks the plant based lifestyle up to a new level!
My last soy milk maker was primitive compared to this machine. It took longer & I had to strain the resulting milk through cheese cloth which made the whole process very time consuming. Not to mention that it didn't yield as much milk as my new machine which TOTALLY ROCKS!
ONE HOUR & my designated soy milk Carafe is filled!
The hardest part is the waiting for it to chill. Other than that, it definitely deserves five stars & there are many people on YouTube that offered their own positive review on this unit. Not to mention that those same reviewers have come up with several interesting variations not listed in the recipe booklet. Yes, I said "booklet", NOT a reasonably sized book. So, that could be the only negative but the more enthusiastic reviewers online certainly make up for it by offering their own plant based variants of recipes.
So, now, all I have to do, is look for them & I am more than confident that I will be happy for as long as this machine keeps working. Did I say that it was like a coffee maker? DUH...! LOL
And I also said that by the total combined volume, it also takes so much less than the total weight of ground coffee. So much milk for so few ingredients, probably less than an ounce altogether. AND!!! With the high costs of all plant based milks in the retail stores, it cost only pennies to use this machine at home VS spending five bucks or more for just a mere half-gallon of whatever plant based milk of your choice.
SOOOOO.... Its a no-brainer!!! Hands down, this is the unit to buy & NO...! No one is paying me to endorse this product but after waiting so many years for technology to catch up, its certainly worth every penny to buy this machine.
Nuff said...?
Did I say that it was like a coffee maker??? LOL!
So simple to use! Easy Peesy Lemon Squeezy!
This >>> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CCCSSTGK?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 <<< is the carafe that I bought to complement my machine. Totally worth it as a reusable glass milk jug!
11-5 -2001 UPDATE:
DO NOT follow the recipe booklet instructions exactly. If you do, you will end up with watery milk with almost no taste at all to it.
(Please note that the following recipe is for 20 ounces, NOT 10 ounces.)
When making soy milk, try this. >>Two tablespoons of soy beans - one tablespoon of rice - one & a half tablespoons of sugar...(I prefer sugar in the raw since it's less processed) and just a few shakes of salt from your salt shaker.
(I don't know why but the salt definitely helps the taste so it's not just intolerably sweet & a few people on you tube claimed that it helps along with the rice to act as a stabilizer.
Still a good machine so no complaints other than the lack of proper recipe guidelines. The makers need to consider adding a more in-depth recipe book, NOT a booklet which leaves much to be desired.
Although, there are plenty of loyal users of the (Milk Made) willing to share their experiences on both YouTube & Facebook, which really should be renamed "Milk Maid" as a proper pun & selling gimmick, LOL!
I may also offer further insights later if I feel the need.
First and foremost, the ChefWave Milkmade is incredibly easy to use. The intuitive design and user-friendly interface make it a breeze to create a wide variety of non-dairy milks. Whether I'm in the mood for almond milk, oat milk, or any other nut or seed milk, this machine can handle it all with ease.
The Milkmade also saves me a significant amount of money in the long run. Store-bought non-dairy milks can be quite expensive, especially if you opt for organic or specialty varieties. With this machine, I can make my own fresh and delicious milk at a fraction of the cost, and I know exactly what goes into it—no added preservatives or artificial ingredients. I simply purchase organic raw almonds, soy beans and etc...
Cleaning the Milkmade is a breeze as well, because it's self cleaning!!!
In addition to its practicality and convenience, the ChefWave Milkmade has a sleek and modern design that looks great in my kitchen. It doesn't take up much counter space. I call the company and ordered extra glass pitchers.
Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase of the ChefWave Milkmade Non-Dairy Milk Maker. It has become an essential appliance in my kitchen, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enjoy fresh, homemade non-dairy milk with ease and convenience.
I chose this one because it seemed very efficient in time and use of materials, and because of its self-cleaning cycle. Other nut milk makers still suggest straining the milk or long soaks. While skeptical of any one review, there are a lot of people in love with this machine, so I went ahead and surprised my wife with it.
She is beyond happy.
The machine is press the buttons and forget. It couldn’t be easier. It takes about a tablespoon of nuts to make 2 cups of nut milk. It doesn’t need long soaking because it heats the water and blends together. Load the water container in the back, make sure the wastewater container and receptacle pitcher are in place, select which program (almond, oat, soy, cashew, coconut, macadamia) you want and select 10 or 20 oz., press the button, wait about 10 minutes and your nut milk is ready. Let the machine continue its cycle and it self-cleans and dumps the wastewater into a separate container.
The milk comes out hot - great for some purposes, not great for others. That’s why there are containers and refrigerators! The milk will separate over time - there’s a very simple solution to that - shake it! While my wife is very happy with the consistency, which usually is very smooth and creamy, sometimes there has been a little bit of “grit” depending on the ingredients. She is never unhappy with the amount, and it is very minimal but maybe some people might want to strain some recipes. I think the different programs will also have an effect on that, which we have yet to explore.
One of the best parts is customizing your milk. My wife has settled on a cashew coconut blend with half a date for sweetness as her favorite, but does other blends as her whims take her. I don’t know the differences between the programs, so there will be some experimentation, but the recipe book has lots of suggestions.
Homemade nut milks are different from commercial in one important aspect - most commercial products have nutrition supplements added - maybe extra protein or calcium or vitamin D, etc. If you are depending on your nut milk for these, just buy some supplement powders that meet your needs and add them.
According to my wife: “This is the best milk I’ve ever had, and it is so quick and easy to use and clean.”
‘Nuff said :)
Top reviews from other countries
A very great item and worth purchasing.
Note: I don’t make soy milk, for me that is a more labor intense thing that this machine may not do a great job, don’t know, so can’t rate it on that.
