Caffè Amaro is a one-of-a-kind take on coffee liqueurs. Amaro (the Italian word for ‘bitter’) is a category of liqueur characterized by its bitter, herbal, and slightly sweet flavor which stems from the use of botanicals, herbs, and cane syrup. Caffè Amaro is a collaborative spirit with Kansas City-based coffee roasters, Thou Mayest who selects a single-origin coffee roast that we utilize to contribute to the flavors the botanicals generate.Caffé Amaro spends a brief amount of time in a whiskey barrel resulting in a rich, bittersweet flavor that works great in cocktails or can be enjoyed by itself after a meal.

      J. Rieger Co., Other U.S.

      J. Rieger & Co. was established in Kansas City in 1887. After growing into the largest mail-order whiskey house in the country, it was shut down by federal Prohibition in 1919. Fast forward to 2014, when the historic distillery was revived by Andy Rieger – the great-great-great-grandson of Jacob Rieger and Ryan Maybee – a beloved Kansas City bartender.

Deeply rooted in its Kansas City legacy, J. Rieger & Co. has grown into a robust brand with distribution in 25 states (and soon international distribution), sales in the top 8% of U.S. distilleries, and multiple spirit categories including vodka, gin, whiskeys, and Amaro.

The company remains family-owned, family-run, and a pillar of Kansas City. It’s headquartered in its original historic building, now with 90,000 square feet between 2 neighboring facilities. It hosts over 100,000 visitors each year and has a historical museum, distillery tours, educational tastings, 3 unique bar and dining concepts, a 40-foot slide, a gift shop, and event space. It is there where the spirits are created and aged and bottled. From 1887 to today, the J. Rieger & Co. family continues to bring its love of spirits to the world.

First prepared by 13th century Italian monks as herbal medicines and elixirs, Liqueurs are distilled spirits that have been combined with flavoring agents. A range of herbs, spices, nuts, fruits and flowers can be used, and a sweetener such as sugar or corn syrup is often added. While typically rather sweet, some examples are herbaceous or tart and pair exceptionally well with desserts or act as a delightful addition to cocktails.
