Comfortable but narrow
- Familiarity:
- I returned this product before using it
- Size Bought:
- 8.5
I have fairly wide feet and I thought these would be a great option. I sized a 1/2 size up, but they were still too narrow. I wore them around the house to try to break in but no dice. Slick lookin shoe, but I went with a different brand.

So comfortable!
I am so happy with these boots. They were comfortable from the minute I put them on. They are less stiff and structured than I expected, but this has made them extremely comfortable for city walking as well as day hikes. No chafing, no blisters! I haven’t had them out in pouring rain yet. The sole has been a little less “grippy” on wer trail footing than other boots but it’s not been an issue at all yet. I am curious to see how they do in extremely wet weather.

Very comfortable
I love the shoes, but it seems that the right shoe is not Seated correctly. The right shoe makes some noise with each step

Very comfortable, light weight but sturdy boots!
Use these off trails with a heavy pack in mountainous areas of Montana and loved them. They are very comfortable and still sturdy enough. They aren’t super waterproof but that makes them breathable. Great summer to fall, responsive hikers!

I love the fit and color scheme and shoelaces.
I really like the fit of these shoes because I have a high arch, wide foot and narrow ankle.

Purchased 2 pairs and we wish we hadn't
definitely comfortable, horrible grip & mostly waterproof. There is one part on the shoe that feels it is not very waterproof & a little moisture came through the shoe but the grip is the biggest concern. These shoes are not sustainable for true hiking on rugged terrain. They have to soft of a grip, the treads are too giving & as a result they did not provide safe footing on many of the trails we were on this summer. Unfortunately these shoes are not what we expected and a replacement shoe had to be purchased for our own safety on the trails just 3 weeks after purchasing these .

Disappointing at best…
Off the bat — pluses for these boots are that they are stylish and comfortable. If you need a good pair of sneakers that look like hiking boots, these will be perfect. But don’t expect much from them beyond that. I’ve been a huge Salomon fan for years, and have owned and happily worn through many of your hiking boots. As a low-impact, daily hiker living in the Northeast, this pair of boots is regrettably the worst I’ve ever owned. The boots hold mud and grass/leaf debris for days, and it needs to manually be picked/washed off (never a problem in the past). I bought these boots in August, and I’ve worn them daily for a 3-4 mile hike through mostly farmland/dewy grass and woods. Water never breached over the top of the boots, but the inside already smells terrible, and in the past week a 3-mile grassy/dewy hike is leaving me with wet socks b/c water is permeating the Gore-Tex. Overall, I’m really disappointed, as Salomon is a brand I’ve come to trust for sturdiness and longevity.

I go farther and harder than I thought I could!
These shoes make me nearly invincible and I'm completely devoted. I've had them for a year, replacing a heavier boot from another brand when I moved to the Rocky Mountains. They fit true to size and have a great toe box for all the ups and downs I tackle. The tread is amazing for mixed terrain, the GTX has never let me down through countless mountain streams, and they are so lightweight that my stamina and distance surprises me. I had plantar fasciitis over the winter, and the sole of these was as comfortable as the upgraded insoles I put in my sneakers. While I bought these for day hikes, they're so effortless and stable that I even wear them on multi-day backpacking trips. The light colors show dust easily, but that has so far just encouraged me to clean and maintain my boots better. Lightweight vs. durable will always be a balancing act, but the OUTpulse Mid meets my needs well. Salomon customer service is stellar too and the boots have a 2 year warranty, so I don't understand the negative reviews, but I suppose all feet are different. I'll be putting my feet in THESE as long as I can!

Terrible quality
The boot started to fall apart after only 5 hikes, and 60km. Ridiculous. Attached photos; the plastic is tearing off near the toe-- goodbye waterproofing. This happened on a hike with a light scramble, but the tear wasn't there until the last 3km of the hike which was on a flat gravel surface. Beyond this, the tread looks like it's literally crumbling off in the high use zones (the area near the toes for me). There's no way these could last a season...in my case they barely made it a month.

Great light weight hiker!
I bought these for a trip to Europe and packing my heavy hiking boots wasn’t an option. I wore them for the first time hiking the Calanques in France. They were exactly what I needed, super comfortable, good traction and provided me with enough ankle stability.
