I never knew that bar shampoo and conditioner would give me such great hair!
About my hair: Shoulder-blade length, bordering medium/fine, type 2b wavy (but I straighten), normal to slightly dry, and naturally gray
I have been using the Hibar shampoos for about five months, and I can't rave enough about them. I started with the Soothe (recommended once a week), and then I got the travel pack to try the three other formulas to see what would work best on my hair for my second wash of the week. The Maintain formula actually ended up being my favorite of the other three.
I can say that between the Soothe and Maintain formulas, my hair and scalp have never been cleaner, and they don't ever make my hair feel stripped, dried out, or weighed down. My scalp tightness and itch are also gone. I blow out my hair with a round brush, and the first thing I noticed after using the shampoos was the way my brush just glides through my damp hair. I don't get any painful catches or snags, and my hair dries faster with a nice sheen. I also lost a lot of hair due typical age-related hormonal changes, and my hairdresser has been commenting about how much healthier my hair looks and how much new growth is coming back in.
I also got smart and got some mesh bags specifically made for bar soap and hair products. At first it was so I could hang my shampoo bar and let it dry, but I also found that the bags make the bars easier to hold and lather. I just rub the bag-covered bar between my hands to create lather, then put the bar down and work the lather through my hair with my hands. It works well, and I don't have to worry about the bars slipping out of my hands.
I didn't get the conditioner right away because I had a hair mask container to finish. Once that was done, I got the Maintain shampoo/conditioner set. I also use a mesh bag with the conditioner, and that also helps work the product onto your hands so you can better apply it to your hair. After shampooing and rinsing, I work up enough condition to apply to my hair and let it set for a few minutes then rinse.
Upon the first use, the feel of my hair was amazing. It was so smooth just under the running water, and I could tell there was no residual or heavy product build-up that was going to weigh my hair down. My jaw was dropping as I dried my hair afterwards because my hair was so soft, smooth, shiny, bouncy, and laid so nicely. Gray hair has a rougher texture and can look drier and frizzier than colored hair, but the shampoo and conditioner combo gave me hair that I just wanted to walk around flipping all day because it was so smooth and voluminous.
What's even more impressive is that I may be able to extend the time between shampoos because my hair doesn't need it. I am on day four after my prior cleanse and condition, and my hair still looks day one fresh. I love the length of my hair but hate the ordeal of drying it, even just a couple times a week. If my hair stays clean enough to extend the time between those efforts, that's a bonus.
