    I think this design is genius, Bostich! I have carpal tunnel in both hands, rheumatoid arthritis, and this is a life saver! So easy to use, and doesn't chew up wood, nice sharp point, too! Even on notoriously hard to sharpen colored pencils! I just wish the shavings area was bigger. You need to empty it pretty often, and I hope the plastic hinge holds up. Thankfully, they are pretty reasonably priced, so replacing one won't cost too much. I have not tried these on pastel pencils or extremely soft core colored pencils yet, but it works beautifully on my prismacolors and cretacolor mega pencils. What is also nice about the design is that your pencil goes in pretty far before it sharpens, so it won't fall out if you let go of it, and the pencils fit snugly in the receptacle so they aren't wobbly. All in all, fantastic for price, ease, and performance. Win win with this one😁

    I know. I know. It's crazy to get excited by a manual pencil sharpener. I need to get out more!
    The sharpener is so easy to hold and manipulate (the ratchet feature makes it effortless); the shavings are contained (no mess!) in a compartment that's easy to open when you want to dispose of them; and the resulting point is perfect with no uneven or shaggy shaving around the lead.
    My husband doesn't understand my preference for plain old pencils, being a mechanical pencil kind of guy. But having to advance the lead or having the lead break doesn't make it fun for me There's just something comforting about using a real pencil. Sigh.
    Oh, and one reason I bought it in the first place was the ability to sharpen jumbo pencils, like my Mammoth 3/8" fat barrel pencils, which fit perfectly.
    Bostich has been a part of my work life since 1968. And this simple, well-thought-out, inexpensive, cute, fun little appliance doesn't disappoint. My only regret: not buying the 3-pack!

    I work in a day care with 3 -9 year olds who love to color. Colored pencils have softer leads than regular pencils, so the regular method of sharpening only resulted in constant broken leads, breaking even when in the process of sharpening. This sharpener came to the rescue! It is easier on softer lead pencils, and reduced the broken leads dramatically!
    It is a dual sharpener, so you can use on both regular sized pencils and thicker pencils. The shavings go into the enclosed container, which actually stays closed! The sharpeners themselves, swivel inside the enclosure and makes it easier on your wrist to use.
    I love this sharpener and highly recommend to anyone who uses colored pencils.

    For anybody that uses color pencils you know the aggravation breaking your lead when you sharpen your pencil. And most of us attribute it to poor quality pencil for rough handling during shipping but since I've got this sharpener I'm convinced that it's all calls because of the sharpening process from low quality sharpeners. Cuz I have went through a 72 count pack of colored pencils to where I'm about to buy more and I've only sharpened them with this sharpener cuz I got it at the same time I got the pencils and I'm not had one broken lead! I would have never thought that was possible at all no matter what reason I may have thoughts was breaking all my leads in the past! And I'm totally convinced it's because of this sharpener it works wonderful it's so easy to use you can't imagine being able to never break the lead in your pencil it just never happens but you buy this sharpener and I'm going to say you're probably not going to worry about doing that anymore. Seriously I'm amazed that how I am not had any of my pencil leads break I even went back and grab some of my older colored pencils that were about used up that I hadn't been willing to throw away yet but didn't use cuz of their small size just to see if it worked on them man I never had an issue with the pencil leads breaking on them either this thing is amazing I will never buy another brand or style or this will be my only pencil sharpener I buy from now on

    Only one sharpener, misleading picture and description - True if you go into the very bottom of the description will find that it’s “one random colored sharpener” yet they should make that very clear upfront since most of the reviews have it marked with one star because of that otherwise the sharpener feels good in the hand. So I have no problems with the sharpener itself. Just a misleading product description with a group of three pictured. I actually wanted to get a single sharpener to begin with and didn’t know what I would do with the other two, but my review was about the miss leading impression they give, and the very last part of the description telling you how many will actually receive.

    I’m disappointed. The concept is good, however, the sharpener doesn’t sharpen the way it should in order to be more helpful at school.

    Very misleading. Its only 1 great job tricking busy parents to think its a pack of 3. I'm doing my sons back to school shopping from super store. Never from Amazon again
