Love my Home Entertainment Center

Would recommend Best Buy! They had PS5’s available within an hour pickup time, when I couldn’t find them at any other store this year. I got this Sony Sound Bar and got the matching Sony Bravia TV w it, couldn’t be happier!

Good sound, not so good with voices.

I dug through the menus which is more than a bit tedious since there’s no TV menu and tweaked a setting or two that slightly helped with voices, but it’s still hard to hear them.

Good system to spend around 300

I did get a deep discount when i bought however i would have returned this this if bought at the rather high suggested retail price. Sound is clear though and haven't heard any distortion from the sub. If your one to lose remotes a lot this system is not for you. Under 300 I'd recommend it

The Bad then the good

The items were scratched and the wood on the sub was broken in pieces, i purchased excellent condition. I contacted customer support and they said they could replace it. I sent the broken item back and received the 2nd item in athe original box in excellent condition. They should have done that in the first place but they did fix it so thank you.

Lacking sound, not as integral as expected with TV

I thought that at this price level my new XR-77A80J OLED would be a terrific marriage. The integration is not as seamless as I had expected. The sound bar takes a while to get started even as the TV has been on for a few seconds. The same is true when the DVD player initially transmits sound, there is always a noticeable delay. Sometimes the sound and image seem to be a few microseconds off which can be dismissible, this delay maybe noticeable because I’m dealing with two separate systems. My point of reference for sound immersion is my old SONY Grand Wega, KDF-60XS955 which had 3 vertical speakers on each side of the screen and the subwoofer was integrated in the body of the TV. Given the bar only has 3 speaker on a horizontal plane, you don’t get the same level of sound elevation or immersion, even as SONY touts its vertical surround engine. I’ll probably extract some juice out of this one for a few months and go to the next level with the SONY HT-A9 which leverages the screen as a center speaker. Reviews on this one also seem to be lacking, so may be other brands need to be considered. It would be nice if SONY offered a subwoofer that could be paired directly with the screen of the XR OLED TV, as a the screen seems to offer reasonable sound and clarity, but lacks bass to add fullness to the sound.

- A:Answer As long as the Sound Bar is plugged into the ARC HDMI on your TV you can plug all your devices into your TV and they will still use the sound bar. I have PS4, XBOX, Apple TV, and Nintendo all plugged into TV and my sound bar plugged into the HDMI that say ARC and all devices play through sound bar. Hope this helps

Q: QuestionHow does the HTG700 not properly support 4k passthrough? If I turn on Dolby Vision on my 2019 Shield TV, I can't play any DV titles from Netflix or Disney+ Using the cables supplied with the soundbar and have the HDMI port set to Enhanced.

- A:Answer I actually got it resolved. It turns out even the HDMI cables supplied with the bar are not adequate. I purchased some 48 gbps HDMI 2.1 cables from Amazon, and, after I hooked up the bar using those, everything has been working fine now. No more audio drops, DV titles on Netflix and D+ all play perfectly. Not sure why this made a difference, as the cables work on my other 5.1.2 system with my Yamaha RX-A1080. Those same cables do not work with the soundbar however. My guess is it's something to do with the HDCP handshake on your G700. Either way, it's working now.

- A:Answer Hi there, Thank you for your inquiry! Unfortunately, no. For the Dolby Atmos feature, you will need to connect the HT-G700 using eARC. The eARC allows transfer of the signals of the object audio content, such as Dolby Atmos - Dolby TrueHD and DTS:X, or multichannel LPCM content using an HDMI cable by connecting the system and a TV compatible with eARC. For best results, please make sure to enable eARC of the TV and the Soundbar. I hope this helps! -Carl

- A:Answer It could but would hang over about 4 1/2 inches on either side. If that’s all I had I’d get a cheap wall mount and do that. It would look better to me.

- A:Answer Hi Ck2, thank you for your question. Yes, you can hook up the soundbar's HDMI EARC to HDMI ARC which will give sound. However, the bandwidth restrictions of ARC will mean you won't be able to experience the high bitrate audio that eARC can provide. EARC can be switched on/off for this unit. ~Earl
