Positioning in ear is tricky for best audio experience.

Positioning in ear is tricky for best audio experience.
The bad first. At least one person told me I repeatedly sound like I'm in an echo chamber, like my voice has reverb.Biggest pet peave, only able to adjust sound level via the phone, not via the buds.If buds aren't perfectly placed in ears, the audio sound level for phone calls is weak. Oddly, listening to other media like YouTube, the audio sound level is very adequate, even to loud at it's highest volume setting, and I have major tinnitus. The sides facing away from the ear are touch sensitive, so I end up inadvertently starting a YouTube video while adjusting my earbuds when on a phone call. To turn off the buds, you have to press both buds at the same time for 10 seconds, this I feel is way too long. You can also turn them off by placing them back in the charging case. The charging case cord to recharge the case is ridiculously short, and does not come with an outlet plug-in. The buds can only be charged via the case. The purchase was suppose to include two sets of silicone/rubber bud tips, the 2nd set was not included. I did receive 2 additional sets of the bud wings that compress in the curvature of the ear. They were not supposed to be included. They are very thin, so I could see having to replace them often. I can't seem to get the other touch commands to work, such as touch both buds to turn them on. When pulling them out of the case, it automatically turns them on. Funny, the automated announcement that they are now on finishes on the last word as you place the first bud in your ear. After turning them off, I have had to place them in the case then pull right back out to get them to turn on and pair with my phone. If you unpair via your phone while they are on, good luck reconnecting without turning them off and back on again. Initial pairing was a PITA, but once the initial occurred, no issues pairing when pulling from charging case. Charging case lid likes to close itself, not much range for opening case, so lid tends to shut itself if you don't keep a thumb on it. No place to store the small charging cord, bud tips, or wings in the case. Good luck remembering where you stored them.Good or bad: Connection distance befoe disconnection from the phone is approximately 25-30' at maximum, walls do affect the distance. It searches and reconnects with your phone once back in said range. The good: Very comfortable, I often forget they are in my ears. Phone calls could be louder, otherwise sound levels and quality are very good. Charging is easy, save the short cord. I have done quite a few bud charges after 1-2 hour video listening, and still haven't had to charge the case yet. Once place, they stay there, through walks and casual bike riding. I can't speak on performance while jogging. For the price, it's not bad. I'm still on the fence regarding mic quality. I need a larger sampling of people.

I don't leave reviews for basically anything, but I felt I had to leave a review for these. These earbuds are probably the best bang for your buck on the whole site.

I just purchased a new pair to replace the pair I bought 4 years ago. I used them for several hours per day every day and I finally replaced them after the battery life in one earbud fell to "only" 1.5 hours.

For the price, these earbuds are absolutely phenomenal. They're comfortable, the battery life is great, the charging case only needs to be charged once every few weeks, the sound quality and bass are amazing (for death metal and deathcore, at least), they come with differently sized tips to fit any ear size, and the one time I had a problem with them, customer service responded to my email promptly with steps to correct the issue.

10/10 value for the price. I expected them to maybe last a year when I first bought them because they were so cheap, but I probably could've gotten another year or two out of them if I didn't mind the diminished battery life.

I am posting (2) reviews... a Flybud 3 review and a Flybud NC review.

FLYBUD 3 - I own a bunch of under $50 TWBs and these are by far the best I have. I own the Sony WF1000's and they are sorta the bench mark so I will try and have a balanced approach when review the Flybud 3.

Sound 4 - Great mid range sound. As much bass as I would every want and overall really good. I have others that I prefer for audio books (but hat is because they are "Bright" and easy to hear voices) but like these for all general use listening. My Sony's have a lot more detail and a broader sound stage, but without a side by side you would be hard pressed to tell the different when moving around. I really only notice the Sony's awesomeness while sitting and concentrating on the music. Moving around and living life in motion... I find myself grabbing the Flybuds when I am going to go work out for otherswise.

Fit - These stick in you ear like an great set of earplugs. The noise ISSOLATION is the best I have by far. So good that in some case are quieter than my NC version of headphones where NC can actually amplifiy noise more so than cancel it... for example wind noise. The ear wings and the ear tips are great and the most secure TWB I own by far.

Battery - I have yet to every run our of battery in the case and cant recall every running out of batter in the TWBs... so batter life is great. The ability to charge and external devise has saved me a few times. The case is a little heavy but slick (good/bad) and slides into pockets easily. I find it a little heavy for when I am wear light shorts or dress clothes, but would be the pair I took if I was to go on a road trip.

Gripes - None really... except for the limited MultiFunction aspects of the MFB. I would have liked to see volume added and skip back/forth be implemented in the MFB... but I have learn to live without it.

      FLYBUD NC
First... I would give them a (3) start when using the stock ear-tips. The noise isolation (vs the noise cancellation) with the stock ear-tips was terrible so I put a different set of ear-tips and that made a HUGE difference... HUGE.

Fortunately Tribit acknowledges such a possibility and as a result just sent me a notice to get (3) new designed ear-tips sent my way. I am anxious to try them to see how they do. In the end this is not an uncommon issue and I find that keeping old ear-tips around so as to swap them to those that work best is a good practice and something I have done with pretty much all the TWB's I own.

Packaging 5: nice as with all the Tribit products I have bought... Its nice and clean and simple

Case (4) : Nice and small, but doesn't let you use some of the bigger ear-tips from other TWB's as the charging pins to make contact. The case has 4 little lights on the front as the battery indicator and they seems to drop fast. I often find it at 50% and I am thinking "didn't i just charge that case?"... only to reflect back with the understanding that I had been using them constantly for the past couple of days... so I suspect the hours claimed are correct.... I just got use to the Flybud 3' monster 2600mah battery case and seeing those battery lights rarely fall below 75%. lol.

Earbud Battery (5) - They say 8 to 10 hrs for the earbud... that is awesome and I have no reason not to believe it. I have yet to wear them out, but the longest I wore them was likely 3hrs to 4hrs... so your experience my vary, but for the record I have gotten "low battery" warnings on all my other earbuds BUT the Flybud NC's. kudo on the battery life.

Earbud Sound (4) - Great for the price. They are not as detailed as my Sony 1000's (they are very nice and detailed, but cost $200), but are nice in the mids with bass where you need it. I listen to the a lot of podcast and I find the sound of the FB-NC's to be well balanced and I don't get fatigued listening over an extended period of time. If I didn't have the Sony's to compare them I would give them a 5. Great sound for the price.

Earbud Noise Cancellation (4) - as noted WITH the different ear-tips installed the NC is really good for white noise and general background noise. I would say it cuts down that "sort of noise" by 60 to 70% and works great. Again the Sony's do it better, but without a side by side comparison you would likely not be able to tell the difference between the Tribits and the Sonys. NC works great in office/inside environments... Very nice for car rides and plane rides and such, but not so good for outside when there is wind blowing (an issue with the Sony's as well). The wind disrupts the "NC" aspects of the earbuds and can cause more noise... the good thing is you can turn it off and use them like normal TWB. The pass-thru aspect is very nice to have and I find I use it more than I expected. Nice feature.

      Some grips:
      - They stay in good with different ear-tips, but not very well with the stock ear-tips.
      - They don't have volume control and some of the other aspects of other TWB's multi-touch button, but I have learned to live with it.

      I find that:
      - I carry these FB-NC's now when I leave the house.
      - I carry the Flybud 3 now whenever I am going to go do anything active, especially outside where Noise Cancellation is less effective and Noise Isolation is most important... something (noise isolation) the Flybud 3's do better than any other TWB i have tried
      - I use my sony's when I really want to get lost in the music and isolate myself. They are very impressive and create a detailed sound stage that none of the other TWB's I have tried can do... but again they cost 5 times as much.

      Hope this helps.

Update 1: Well I have used these for a bit and I really am trying to NOT LET my prior experience (all positive) with Tribit effect my judgement. I still have the "the wingtips hurt sometimes in the high humidity/hot temps after about an hour or so walk" issue but like i said at that point that they start to hurt I am almost done and A) "taking the wingtip off for the rest of the walk" or B) just taking the bud out for a few ... say 30 seconds or so and rubbing my ear" and putting the bud with the wingtip still on back in .. solves that "issue" in both cases. A few times in more "comfortable conditions" (not a tripe digit heat index) ... i went out almost a little longer and i never had that "wingtip hurts after long usage" problem. One last thing on this ... i'd say "it feels a little sore" ... not like a bad pain or anything to go overboard.

Sound is another issue .... I cant recall the setting but on my first pair (forshadowing) I had "Tribit signature sound" or something like that set apparently ... i couldn't tell (I go into details below of what happened and what i tried) if the Lows (bass) were too high or the mids and highs (righter most side of an EQ) were "too low" ... it almost to a point sounded more "muffled" then expected. TL/DR here i lowered a few of the bass sliders and raised a few of the high-mids/high sliders and BOY does it sound better. I hate to sound like i dont like some of the other buds I have like the TOZO NC2's which sound great too ...l but along with my Lavabean earbuds (I dont think they are sold anymore) ... these Flybud 3's maybe my favorites ... they dont sound as wide as the Lavabeans but that is not a bad thing. Everything is right where i like it and ... these have become one of my favorites.

One thing I will say is I had the case slip out of my hands one day and it bounced a time or two down my driveway/sidewalk ... it now has some dings on it but after using these for a bit since then .... nothing fell apart and everything still works.

As far as that forshadowing ... I admit the regular price of these are pretty good but I have gotten "used -very good" type condition Flybud3s from Tribit's parent company here on Amazon... sometimes at say 60% of the price (like i see a sale on these new at $32 ... "used like new" is $24) .... I now have three pair of Flybud 3s ... two of which I took a chance on and got used for (both pair each ... ) for the rough total of say $17.50 for either pair.... a STEAL at that price. Sometimes at sub $20 you "get what you pay for" OR get a good product (say some earfun or TOZO lower end offering) but you sacrifice on say battery life or other features.

I still HAVEN'T tested the charging on these though ... say "charging up my phone in a pinch just to make a phone call" in an emergency type thing

I get why these are a "recommended" product ... I really do now

      ------------------------------------------------------------------
TLDR, I totally recommend these, even if they are not “perfect” … and there are not many “cons” .. some just more “here is where I’d like to see a change or improvement” rather than a so-called “negative”.

I have far more bluetooth devices, than I ever thought I’d have and it’s gotten to the point if I listed them in reviews, like I used to it’d just take up too much room and too much time for people to read, but know while I have a few brands I trust … Tribit, TOZO and Earfun are my top three. I have not always had issues with Tribit products, but the off chance I do, they have always gone above and beyond to take care of things.

      --------------------------------
My initial thoughts (note: things have changed … for the better)

I liked them (and I ADMIT I got these used-very good, if I recall) but with what I think was a “default” (not a typical V-shaped EQ, looking at the app) … well I couldn’t put my finger on it but it was either A) The .. I want to say midbass (the boomy bass you “can feel” in some devices) was either too high or B) the high mids and highs were too low… they didn’t sound terrible but they sort of sounded like a worse (what I just said sound profile wise) version of the Tribit XSound Gos I have … they sound good just like these Flybud 3s but .. .a tad on the “boomy” side. I could live with that but, like I said .. things have changed.

(typing this a few weeks after my initial thoughts) I THINK I was wishing is that the case was a little more sturdy in the hinge but really this hasn’t been an issue, and I have had far worse (even if they don’t break, a pair of Tagry earbud’s case and my only SoundPeats case seems like they‘d break even if it was a light fall onto say carpet)
      -----------------------------------------
      Change in the sound:

I did some testing in my Sansa MP3 player using Rockbox (note: with ALL earbuds I review, I generally have a “V-shaped EQ” on top of whatever the earbuds sound like .. just to be clear/fair) and pulling the bass back a tad and upping the high mids and highs, they sounded better .. STILL the same profile of a little too boomy but ALOT better than what it was. I then tweaked the EQ on the player back to where I had it before, and then went into Tribit’s app and on the Flybuds themselves sort of did the same thing with pulling a few of the bass sliders down from that “default” (I think) EQ and bumping UP the high end. These sound SO MUCH better now.

With that default sound I heard there seemed to be a lack of clarity in the mids and highs with that extra bass … now it sound a lot more in the range I like and the more I use these sound “profile” wise, the more I like them.

Everyone likes different things, sound wise but I will say if these don’t sound exactly like you want, go into the GREAT APP (one of the best in my view really) and play with the EQ with more bands than I expected really and dial them into where you like the sound to be.
      --------------------------------------------------------------------
      Pro:
      - The Sound: without going over the same things I already said the sound is a plus .. sure some audiophiles may not like the sound of earbuds in this price range but when dialed in .. these can sound balanced, and still have boomy bass and decent mids and highs. I have heard speakers, headphones or earbuds that sometime can sound “lopsided” EQ wise but these are pretty darn good and “EQ’able”

      - The wingtips: Other than a VERY specific use case and only during some times and ironically in certain conditions with my right ear ONLY after … an hour or more of use (that is a heck of a sentence, eh?) .. .The wingtips are a pro and unlike other earbuds like my Tagry’s that just feel so much better without wingtips on either bud, The Flybuds 3 wingtips and just how they feel with the buds themselves IS a pro to me. I don’t run .. I don’t .. but I could totally see people running or doing exercises with these and unlike some earbuds if doing intense stuff.. these just feel like they WOULDN’T fall out in those cases .. .very snug and comfortable unless maybe wearing for a LONG period of time. IF wearing for a few hours, I have to admit I may get ear fatigue with ANY earbud.

      - Build Quality – While I thought (and maybe I still do I am not 100% sure) the hinge on the case COULD BE “a little beefier” … “a little more sturdy” … even with initial impressions, as always with Tribit products, they seem well made and not on the “cheap” (quality) side no matter the fact that some are on the cheapER (price) side compared to some more expensive earbuds. This is just one overall reason Tribit has won me over, and the quality like I said is no different in these Flybud 3s versus other Tribit products. Well done, Tribit.

      - Battery life – Oh boy … I do admit I have only had to charge these once with constant use and I HAVE NOT tried the “power bank” feature, but unlike the “100+ hour” Tagrys and ones I LOVE ..I forgot the exact model (not sold anymore to my knowledge) .. my “100+ hour” Lavabeans, these seem to actually last that long or at least more in that range.

The Tagry’s I have go from 50% on the case to zero in no time (almost instantly) ONCE the case charge number hits about 50% … it’s normal UNTIL that level but it’s far from what it was advertised at … I got those for $20 so I can forgive that issue and to be fair to Tagry … they last a long time from 100% to 50% on the case.

My Lavabeans have a similar issue desptie being one of my favorite brand/models that I own. These do the same thing when the case charge number hits ABOUT 30% or so. Not Idea, but with the way the Lavabeans sound … I am FAR more forgiven than even the Tagry’s

This is a hard thing to judge for now, since like I said I only had to charge these once since I got them, and at times I thought the case charge at “3 out of 4” dots was a bug since it seemed “stuck” there (it was just the battery ACTUALLY lasting that long and being totally fine) … but wow I am impressed with the battery life.

      The App:
      - I have to say there MAYBE equal apps in terms of quality and what it gives you control over and how it functions… I DO recall it asking me for my location (what others have complained about) but without giving it access and opening and closing the app a time or two I think it opened and functioned normal, anyway, and I do have a firewall on my phone blocking anything I don’t totally allow. I am not a fan of this but …to be fair I do not remember of say Oontz’s, Soundcore’s, or .. Earfun (they have an app?)’ s apps ask for the same permissions … I really can’t

Overall I feel this is a well done app and better then some others I have seen. I don’t want to go into all the details but after wishing Tribit had an app for awhile, I have to say well done, to the programmers of this app. My only “issue” is that I wish my Tribit Xfree Go’s from years back had app support so I could dial in the sound (same general INITIAL impressions of the Flybuds .. just a pinch too on the boomy side)

      ------------------------------------------------------
Cons/Things that are no big deal or very specific to a certain use-case:

      - The wingtips: This is a pro and a con and really … I have to just explain my specific use-case when the “issue” happens.

It’s somehow USUALLY only in my right ear but I have had it happen in my left ear too. Before I go on, I want to say that for some reason I don’t like Tagry’s (another brand with a model that has wingtips) wingtips on those earbuds.. I don’t want to say they “hurt” but they just feel a lot better without them. The wingtips on these give me ear fatigue (I don’t want to say they “hurt” really but just … say a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10, and just taking that one out for a moment or so and rubbing my ear, solves that issue and I can wear them again. The thing is it’s been VERY humid and hot since early May (it’s late June now) and only on humid days and specific MAINLY to my right ear AFTER AN HOUR of wearing them for a walk in the hot sun, does the issue happen and really when it starts … I am mostly done with the walk anyway so it’s a sort of “issue/non-issue” anymore. There has been 2 or 3 day of hot temps but lower humidity and even during the same distance walks … the issue even in my right ear doesn’t happen … maybe TMI there but its a very specific use case and again a “2” on a scale of 1 to 10 and really a few moments of taking them out, solves the issue. The OTHER OBVIOUS question is “well … do you take the wingtip off even if just on the right earbuds when this happens?” … no I do not since I am almost done anyway… TAKING THE WINGTIP OFF would be the other obvious solution, for the ear fatigue.

TO BE CLEAR, The issue is not in the eartip in my ear canal, but right where the wingtip is sitting … it sort of “gets a little sore” when the issue happens. The eartips that were “default” when I opened the package feel great and are a-ok even when the wingtip in my right ear starts “causing the issue”.

      ------------------------------------------------
I am not say these are perfect, though unlike some products in various categories that have me questions “why do these have so many really high reviews?.. this is ‘ok’ at best” or “why is this an Amazon best-seller?”… after using these for a bit and despite the bassier sound I sort of like them in the first place, but liked them even more after more use… I can say I get why these are rated so high.

Excellent service, swift delivery. Great ear plugs that are comfortable to wear in bed . I found them easy to set up and connect to my Bluetooth. Once connected they automatically connect when taken out of their box. Sound quality is excellent. I love that they come with their own usb cable.
Postal packaging could be better. The parcel was open ended, it's a wonder the box didn't fall out during transit.

I love these earbuds. I previously owned the mpow M30 which you cannot buy anymore, and these are basically the same earbuds under another brand. There are at least 3 brands I’m aware of that sell this earbud with minor differences. Unlike the mpow, which let you control volume, track forward/back, play/pause, and voice assistant, these really only let you control track forward and play/pause and voice assistant. The lack of volume and track back is a bit of a bummer…. However, because every function is double tap, triple tap, or extended hold, they do not activate accidentally anywhere near as easily. This actually makes them work very well in the shower which is problematic for lots of touch control earbuds, so you can really make use of that IPX8 rating. So now I’m actually grateful that single tap and short holds do nothing, because I could not use my M30s in the shower but these I can. I always have my phone in my pocket so lack of volume control or skip back is not a big deal.

Also, at least for my ears, I find these to be simultaneously the most comfortable earbuds I’ve tried, while also being incredibly secure in your ears. I usually find it’s one or the other, not both. I really hope I can always buy a pairs with this exact form factor because it works so well for me.

However, at only 5 hours battery, which is going to go down after months of use, I do always like to have a second pair for extended use when I need it. But that’s not a big deal because these are cheap, and the smaller battery is part of what makes them comfortable, because they are not bulky.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just WOW! Pretty much perfect BT buds at an amazing price
Reviewed in Canada on December 9, 2020

I've had these earbuds for a week now and all I can say is WOW!! They are amazing in all the important ways: 1) ease of putting into ear: absolutely no issues, no wrestling them into my ear canals, and the winglets are awesome at keeping them in there during jogging, without being painful or uncomfortable. Make sure to play with the rubber grommet and winglet options to get a good fit. 2) Sound quality: they are as good or better than the highly-praised (and no longer available it seems) QCY T1 Pro earbuds, which I also own. The entire audible frequency range is represented as it should, with no over or under representation anywhere. 3) Touch control: superior to all of the BT earbuds I own. There is virtually no delay, so you don't get stuck in this loop of "did I pause the music or not?" only to be touching the earbud again while it's still processing your first touch. Annoying, and no longer an issue with the Tribits. 4) Comfort after wearing them for a while: really good! With some of my other earbuds, I just want to take them out after 30 minutes to give my ear canals a break. The Tribits are so far setting a new standard in in-ear comfort duration. 5) Price: these buds are superior to anything that Samsung or Apple has to offer, at 1/4 of the price. The Flybuds 3 are my 4th earbuds and are now my go-to buds, by a longshot. 6) Battery life and charging: these things last for so long, and the in-case battery is well above average in size. Going on a long trip or camping with no power? You're good to go with these. 7) One-step pairing: I didn't even know this was possible! This feature is so convenient that it's worth getting these just for that!!

No, I didn't get these from free from Tribit, and am not affiliated in any way with this company. I'm just so, so pleasantly surprised by these buds, especially when there are so many to choose from out there.

UPDATE 1 YEAR LATER: Still awesome. The touch delay issue I described above does in fact exist somewhat, but the thing is that the earbuds sense my touch much better than my other BT earbuds, so even with the delay, it's mostly a non-issue because I don't find myself thinking "did i touch them to pause the music?". Secondly, the earbuds aren't as loud as my T1 Pros, but you know, in the long run I should be thanking the folks at Tribit for keeping my hearing loss at a minimum. After 1 year, the two biggest highlights are: one-step pairing (love this feature and they connect every time!) and 10-minute charging for another 90 minutes of music. Still really loving these and at around $50 CDN, just an amazing deal.
