Collects a lot of dirt and dust

Collects a lot of dirt and dust
It does a great job at cleaning the floor for sure. But the AI is still kinda dumb, especially when it comes to corners and stuff. I think they should program it to go for open spaces more and to avoid furniture, walls, and spaces. They should also put sensors on all models so it avoids objects and tight spaces like underneath my couch. It gets stuck underneath my furniture a lot. All of my furniture’s bottom legs are conveniently the exact same height of this bot: 3 inches. That goes for the living room and bedroom. They need to keep that in mind when designing these products because it’s like the perfect height for this thing to get stuck underneath everything for me. Maybe add the option to adjust the height or something like that because if it was an inch taller, then this wouldn’t be a problem. They do have attachments that can make the bumper taller, but I think they should improve this product instead. They should also emphasize the height of the bot when they sell them, I might have checked the height of all my furniture. It would be neat actually if they made more models that are much shorter, like only 1.5-2.5 inches tall that could fit under coaches like mine. or if they made them taller. or if they made the height adjustable that would be perfect. They probably should do that so I don’t have to glue attachments to my product.I don’t think there are sensors for this model, that option wasn’t available for my model, so I’m assuming this is the cheaper model that lacks sufficient features. I think things like sensors should be available on all of these bots. That way they don’t burry themselves under furniture.Overall, my floor actually does look cleaner. It does collect a ton of dust and dirt. My hard floor looks shiny, the mop also really works and they use cloths that you can put through the wash. It gets a lot of stuff out of the carpet and it vacuums under spaces like under the bed.I wasn’t expecting much from this product. I was always skeptical that the technology was too early, so I went for a cheaper model while it was 45% on sale. But now that I tried it, I’m tempted to give it away and buy an even better brand that may know to avoid furniture. I’m not sure if I want a roomba though, seeing how this is what you get for $270 when it’s not on sale. But I do hope that they improve the technology to make these things smarter and to steer clear of furniture, then this would be a revolutionary product because my floor is so clean! Hopefully the bumpers that make the bot taller that I ordered will redeem this product.Update: the bumpers that I bought did redeem this product, I no longer need to drag it out from underneath the couch. I don’t have to worry about it getting stuck in vertically tight spaces. However, it still gets stuck in horizontally tight spaces such as corners or 2 furniture legs, and there are no mods or attachments that can fix that. Also, it often gets stuck in spots like on a loose-laid carpet that is right next to a wall/couch. It has a lot of trouble navigating around objects that are not rectangular. It’s almost impossible for it to find home by itself, I have to pick it up and carry it. So it’s safe to say that the artificial intelligence is not very smart yet. Sometimes it keeps pushing itself into corners and walls and it makes a really loud noise. So for these reasons, this product will remain at 3 stars because I still have had to fish it out from being stuck and it’s kind of annoying but in a likable way because it cleans my floor. It’s basically a blind and deaf robot that sweeps and mops your home. Sometimes it crawls underneath my couch or my bed and gets stuck and then it calls me to tell me to help it get unstuck. It’s definitely not hands free, there is a lot of maintenance. These products still feel awkward. The AI’s only sense is touch. The AI has a lot of room for improvements, and I think the AI needs other senses, besides touch, such as sight or hearing. They should add settings like sensitivity to objects so that it knows to avoid them and to not worry about vacuuming everything. Just the stuff it can reach.I hope they can eventually develop these bots with more sophisticated AI, cameras, and sensors so that it knows to seek dirty and grimy spots automatically, and it knows not to get stuck. I think some of the sleeker/higher end models/brands may have some of this tech, but not this one. The technology for this model is unimpressive. I suggest to only buy this if it’s on sale and you want to try this kind of product for the first time.

Our floors are much cleaner now that we run this machine every few days. Because we have it, we are mindful of cords, cat toys and other items on the floor that could tangle it up, so its presence also kind of enforces a level of tidiness.

This machine does not learn quickly, it is not using satellites and cameras to map the shifting topography of our home, and I am happy with that. What it does is wander from room to room in an apparently random fashion, and it always finds dirt. It eventually seems to go over the entire floor. We have two cats who find it loud and unpleasant, but also fascinating. They stalk it from covert locations, calculating the balance of the predator/prey relationship. Someday, they may attack it, but if that happens, I think the Roomba will survive.

    Cons:
Somewhat loud - It is as loud as a normal vacuum cleaner
Needs supervision - It can't be left running home alone, because it gets stuck under furniture from time to time. It sometimes makes mistakes that could endanger its life. I block it from entering areas where it could fall off of a cliff, because in spite of the cliff detection feature, I think it might very well fall off a cliff if given the chance.
Only one phone allowed - The phone app seems to allow for only one phone per user, so only one member of the household can command the vacuum from the phone app; not a big deal for me because I just push the button on the top of the Roomba and it takes off.
Pros: It vacuums the house frequently. I am never going to do that.
It has the work quality of maybe a ten year old who was asked to vacuum the house--but unlike a ten year old, it is persistent.
The suction is good, it gets diirt out of deep rugs and it does well in the corners.
It is able to get over thresholds and it is fine around our cat dishes- pushes them a little bit but then backs away.

I purchaed this vaccuum during Prime Days because I wanted to get a robot vaccuum for a decent price. I live in an 800 sq. ft. apartment which I would vaccuum about once a month because I don't track in much dirt. It was easy to setup and connected to my Android phone app just fine. I let it charge and started it up. It is louder than I thought it would be, but still much quieter than a traditional vaccuum. After reading the instructions, I realized that there was no way to "train" it or block off certain rooms or areas. That was my fault in my assumption that all robot vaccuums had that feature. It does run into objects a lot and doesn't have a good algorithm to change direction. It seems to go the same way and repeatedly bump into objects and then goes the same way. It gets stuck very easily as well. I have a thin rug in my kitchen and one of the edges is kind of bent up and it gets caught on that every time so I have to pick up the rug. It does clean well and I run it once a week and am amazed about how much dust and dirt accumulates in that time period. Also, even though I have it scheduled in the app, sometimes it starts early which is weird. Overall for $160 it is a decent product that saves me having to vaccuum by hand.

Changed my review from 3 stars to one after running this thing for a week or so I’ve basically had to robot proof my home. This thing gets stuck constantly. When it does it gets lost. After vacuuming my less than 200 sq foot upstairs, it shows over 4600 square ft off vacuuming because it constantly has to retrace its steps. I’d should send it back.

You get what you pay for. It vacuums well but with a few caveats. 1) This is a "bump and go" style machine. It tracks its location by counting revolutions of the front wheel's optical sensors, and physically bumping into things. 2) Because it uses optical sensors, It requires light to work well. Without lights on it got lost and drove all over to get its bearings again. It say my 200 sq ft room required 4600 sq ft of vacuuming. it ran for 1 hour and 43 minutes in a 350 or less square foot space. It will do the same thing if it gets stuck. It will run until it bounces off enough familiar objects for it to find itself. 3) This unit hopped a lot on my medium pile carpet. It actually only ended its job because it hit the low battery warning. It worked wonders in my kitchen where the floor was smooth and it was well lit.

Pros: Drives well on smooth surfaces or low pile carpet. Vacuums well on those type surfaces as well. Cleaned under my kitchen table around the chairs and under my love seat.

Cons: tries to wedge itself into places it is slightly taller than. The nose will dip down and it will keep trying until it errors out. Needs lights on to work decent. When I did my upstairs with the lights on it mapped nicely and took about 20 minutes to actually complete the job. Doesn't have features like smart mapping or LIDAR type avoidance technology. Not self emptying. Because of its "bump and go" nature, it has got stuck under the tv stand and under a table in my bedroom that had heights that were the same height as the robot. It got its nose under and wedged itself until it couldn't back out. Uses infrared to detect Home. The base has to be in an open enough area for the robot to cross the infrared beam. It will then turn itself and slowly dock on the base. It fit can't find the infrared beam, it will move a bit then turn in circles. Move a bit, turn in circles until it 'sees' the infrared beam from the base station.

The first image (Squares;Rectangles) is a run in my bedroom map with all the lights on. It completed successfully and only got stuck once on a cord I thought I had tucked away (my fault).

The Second Image straight line type map is a run with minimal lighting. As you can see, it go 'lost'. ended up sending it Home. It did find Home eventually.

You have to robot proof your home.

Has it about 6 months now and we mostly use it for our main floor of travertine stone tile and a rug and it does both, no problem. You have to prep the room so it doesn’t run over shoelaces or get trapped in tight places. The first time, there was a learning curve and took time to get it ready, like putting kitchen table chairs upside down on table, but now it takes me like 2-3 min to prep the room. I’m actually surprised how well it works. Hope it lasts a long time.
