- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2023Style: Roomba 692Verified PurchaseOur floors are much cleaner now that we run this machine every few days. Because we have it, we are mindful of cords, cat toys and other items on the floor that could tangle it up, so its presence also kind of enforces a level of tidiness.
This machine does not learn quickly, it is not using satellites and cameras to map the shifting topography of our home, and I am happy with that. What it does is wander from room to room in an apparently random fashion, and it always finds dirt. It eventually seems to go over the entire floor. We have two cats who find it loud and unpleasant, but also fascinating. They stalk it from covert locations, calculating the balance of the predator/prey relationship. Someday, they may attack it, but if that happens, I think the Roomba will survive.
Cons:
Somewhat loud - It is as loud as a normal vacuum cleaner
Needs supervision - It can't be left running home alone, because it gets stuck under furniture from time to time. It sometimes makes mistakes that could endanger its life. I block it from entering areas where it could fall off of a cliff, because in spite of the cliff detection feature, I think it might very well fall off a cliff if given the chance.
Only one phone allowed - The phone app seems to allow for only one phone per user, so only one member of the household can command the vacuum from the phone app; not a big deal for me because I just push the button on the top of the Roomba and it takes off.
Pros: It vacuums the house frequently. I am never going to do that.
It has the work quality of maybe a ten year old who was asked to vacuum the house--but unlike a ten year old, it is persistent.
The suction is good, it gets diirt out of deep rugs and it does well in the corners.
It is able to get over thresholds and it is fine around our cat dishes- pushes them a little bit but then backs away.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 24, 2025Style: Roomba Y0140Verified PurchaseI never wanted a Roomba when I saw the price on Amazon I couldn't resist. I love it! - Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2024Style: Roomba 692Verified PurchaseI purchaed this vaccuum during Prime Days because I wanted to get a robot vaccuum for a decent price. I live in an 800 sq. ft. apartment which I would vaccuum about once a month because I don't track in much dirt. It was easy to setup and connected to my Android phone app just fine. I let it charge and started it up. It is louder than I thought it would be, but still much quieter than a traditional vaccuum. After reading the instructions, I realized that there was no way to "train" it or block off certain rooms or areas. That was my fault in my assumption that all robot vaccuums had that feature. It does run into objects a lot and doesn't have a good algorithm to change direction. It seems to go the same way and repeatedly bump into objects and then goes the same way. It gets stuck very easily as well. I have a thin rug in my kitchen and one of the edges is kind of bent up and it gets caught on that every time so I have to pick up the rug. It does clean well and I run it once a week and am amazed about how much dust and dirt accumulates in that time period. Also, even though I have it scheduled in the app, sometimes it starts early which is weird. Overall for $160 it is a decent product that saves me having to vaccuum by hand.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2025Style: Roomba Y0140Verified PurchaseChanged my review from 3 stars to one after running this thing for a week or so I’ve basically had to robot proof my home. This thing gets stuck constantly. When it does it gets lost. After vacuuming my less than 200 sq foot upstairs, it shows over 4600 square ft off vacuuming because it constantly has to retrace its steps. I’d should send it back.
You get what you pay for. It vacuums well but with a few caveats. 1) This is a "bump and go" style machine. It tracks its location by counting revolutions of the front wheel's optical sensors, and physically bumping into things. 2) Because it uses optical sensors, It requires light to work well. Without lights on it got lost and drove all over to get its bearings again. It say my 200 sq ft room required 4600 sq ft of vacuuming. it ran for 1 hour and 43 minutes in a 350 or less square foot space. It will do the same thing if it gets stuck. It will run until it bounces off enough familiar objects for it to find itself. 3) This unit hopped a lot on my medium pile carpet. It actually only ended its job because it hit the low battery warning. It worked wonders in my kitchen where the floor was smooth and it was well lit.
Pros: Drives well on smooth surfaces or low pile carpet. Vacuums well on those type surfaces as well. Cleaned under my kitchen table around the chairs and under my love seat.
Cons: tries to wedge itself into places it is slightly taller than. The nose will dip down and it will keep trying until it errors out. Needs lights on to work decent. When I did my upstairs with the lights on it mapped nicely and took about 20 minutes to actually complete the job. Doesn't have features like smart mapping or LIDAR type avoidance technology. Not self emptying. Because of its "bump and go" nature, it has got stuck under the tv stand and under a table in my bedroom that had heights that were the same height as the robot. It got its nose under and wedged itself until it couldn't back out. Uses infrared to detect Home. The base has to be in an open enough area for the robot to cross the infrared beam. It will then turn itself and slowly dock on the base. It fit can't find the infrared beam, it will move a bit then turn in circles. Move a bit, turn in circles until it 'sees' the infrared beam from the base station.
The first image (Squares;Rectangles) is a run in my bedroom map with all the lights on. It completed successfully and only got stuck once on a cord I thought I had tucked away (my fault).
The Second Image straight line type map is a run with minimal lighting. As you can see, it go 'lost'. ended up sending it Home. It did find Home eventually.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2025Style: Roomba Y011 Amazon ExclusiveVerified PurchaseHas it about 6 months now and we mostly use it for our main floor of travertine stone tile and a rug and it does both, no problem. You have to prep the room so it doesn’t run over shoelaces or get trapped in tight places. The first time, there was a learning curve and took time to get it ready, like putting kitchen table chairs upside down on table, but now it takes me like 2-3 min to prep the room. I’m actually surprised how well it works. Hope it lasts a long time.
