I live in a large home and prefer 2 vacuums (1 up and 1 down). I bought the Shark (having only been a Hoover owner) on the right (mauve colored) when they were just taking off. I remember putting it and a dyson to the test at BestBuy and the Shark won, hands down. Over the years that thing has taken a beating. It was time to replace the Hoover I was using downstairs and kept running into duds. I started shopping. The first Shark I ordered was not a true 'lift' design. When you shop, check the photos and go for a 'powered lift away', like this one.Anyway, I sent the first back and found this one. Bingo! It's just like the one I have and I'm sure it's only been improved. I had just run the Hoover downstairs and decided to put this one (on the right, maroon colored) to the test. As you can see, it picked up a LOT more. This was just one rug runner.It's self-propelled and easy to maneuver.I love the fact you can take these all apart to clean everything. Just remember, it's not a huge bin, but it is so worth the tradeoff! I have old school natural hardwood (with area rugs and runners) and it works fabulous on that, as well.Shark does not disappoint and if you want a true lift away, don't hesitate. BUY IT :) Please do not stop making this design and whatever you do, don't put those 'fins' on it instead of brushes. I see nightmare reviews about the new ones with digital control and fin design rollers. Keep this as it is!!

    I already have an earlier model (or, at least, very similar) of this vacuum that I've been using the past few years and love, but needed to get another vacuum so I had one upstairs and one downstairs so I didn't have to lug them up and down stairs. This one ALMOST makes my older one seem wimpy in comparison. I swear, when you put it into carpet mode, it takes off without you if you aren't holding on tight enough. Terrific suction, and gets up pet hair with ease. One of the features I like with this model is not having to change the hose attachment to a different port whenever you want to use one of the attachments - ie. vacuuming off the couch, clearing cobwebs from ceiling, etc. I also love being able to attach the wand to the base portion so you can vacuum under beds and cabinets easily. The controls on the handle are well placed and easy to use quickly so you can switch between hardwood floor mode to carpet without breaking your stride. The canister is easy to remove and empty. The vaccum is solidly built but not terribly heavy, yet not so light that it tips easily. Best of all it was reasonably priced.

    Purchased a little over a year ago, so pretty sure I can review w accuracy. I have 5 dogs, 3 cats & family that work outdoors, so the vacuum is used every day, sometimes twice. I’m a Sr. & have owned every vacuum
    from a stick dirt devil to a Kirby. So my review is credible.
    PROS: excellent suction, good height, can vacuum under chairs, cabinets, tables & partially under the beds without having to move them. Attachments work well ( vacuum the couch using the tools weekly & it’s much quicker & easier than any of my prior vacuums). Love that I can wash filters instead of purchasing. I can even throw them in the dryer. Very little if any spit back, including cat litter. Only vacuums moving forward. House is all LVP flooring w a few throw rugs & door mats. So the floor/rug setting is great. When I come to a rug & I can switch to carpet & almost always go directly from floor to rug without lifting. The lever to control suction is probably my favorite as I can lower the suction when I’m on the rugs & they don’t get sucked up in the roll bat. Canister dumps easily & so do all the different handles & hose to use w attachments. Seems to be built well considering I haven’t broke it yet ( which is in the cons)
    CONS: Weight, it’s heavy. Cord, does not stay in the the notch & even when it is in the notch u still have to hold the cord in your hand to keep it out of the way. Cord is on the short side too. When using the attachments vacuum falls over, not from pulling hose too hard it’s just too bottom heavy & it’s a miracle I haven’t cracked the canister yet. The scent disc is useless. Never noticed any scent when vacuuming & I asked a friend who has the same vacuum & owns a cleaning business & she agreed.

    This is my second Shark and I love it. My older Shark is about 25 years old and it got used 3 to 4 times a week. It's been through dog and cat hair. Still works, but is getting moved to the basement. I don't want to carry it up and down the stairs anymore. This new Shark is awesome. I just vacuumed with the old Shark the day before my new one arrived and the amount of pet hair that it picked up is incredible. I have two cats now. I love the light on it. It's so easily to use and the suction is fantastic. I only wish it had a longer cord, which isn't really a big deal since it does a great job.

    I waited until I used the vacuum for a couple of months before posting a review to see how the shark would hold up.

    I had a Dyson for 10 years and it finally broke - did my research to find an affordable strong vacuum that I could replace it with. I thought the Dyson was the best out there but WOW I was wrong, I wish I had this Shark to begin with!

    Super easy to assemble, it's not heavy and the cannister empties from both sides, the top half will catch large objects like Lego etc. which makes it so easy to clean out and recover accidentally sucked-up large items from!

    The self-powered head caught me off guard and it came right out to of my hand & went zoom lol!
    The vacuum itself is lightweight and easy to handle, especially if you're using the lift away feature

    Very impressed with the suction power - simply and thoughtfully engineered I love everything about it.

    Picks up pet hair you didn't know was even there (if this vacuum can handle husky floof it can handle anything lol) and it picks up my very long human hair easily too.

    The head is easy to take apart and clean (I have to do it every 4-5th time I vacuum which is gross but it shows how good this is picking hair up)

    My carpets look so good now and I am really happy with my purchase, I'm still shocked how much dust bunnies and dirt get into the carpet, especially after thinking my Dyson was getting it all

    The wand and main head have lights which is awesome I can see what I'm doing vacuuming in corners and see the dirt and crumbs and dust bunnies on my hardwood :)

    Only cons: I have many stairs in my house and it can be a little awkward managing the cannister + hose + cord but I'm getting used to it, wishing the cord was another 3-4 feet longer. My carpets are about 20 years old so the brush head bounces around in some high traffic areas where the carpet is matted down - I just slow vacuum and try not to go against the carpet 'grain' too much... Not the Shark's fault I should probably get my carpets cleaned or replaced ;)

    I just returned a Dyson D66 - due to being too awkward and heavy with a big ball, that gets in the way and too many plasticky parts. It also felt like it would break when snapping it back to uproght position, of which it was/felt top heavy.

    I LOVE LOVE the SHARK TruPet Vacuum. The fact it has a metal wand, detachable canister, great attachments, lights, smaller rotating power head, easily slips under a couch, to name a few. I am so pleased I chose this, and believe me it is 2+ lbs lighter than the Dyson D66 upright canister. The construction of this vacuum, feels like hardware that will last.

    I had a canister hoover for 15 years and I can easily live with this upright, space saver, great suction (equal if not better then DYSON). Our home with pet hair, hardwood floors, ceramic tile floors, high piled carpet, regular pile carpets and low pile rugs, dust/ cobwebs etc, plus cars to clean, will make great use of this lift away vacuum.

    I looked a long time for a new vacuum. Everyone talks about the Dyson brand, but I read mixed reports of them; some models are better than others, and all are pretty pricey. I ended up buying this Shark because of all the reviews I found on-line, and yet this unit is much cheaper. I read reviews from many sources because I don't trust just reading a few... they can be faked.
    This machine has powerful vacuum suction, it gets all the cat hair. It's very versatile with lots of attachments and configurations. It's easy to empty and I don't need bags anymore! I can say that the wand is a little heavy and my hand tires after a while. In fact, the unit itself, is a little heavy. When I have it in upright mode, it wants to run by itself and is a little hard to control. However, I found that it's easier to carry the canister in one hand and direct the wand and beater with the other.
    I've had it only a coupla months... we'll see if it lasts.
