Decent starter set; plan to add/upgrade a few items
With a new driver in a 10-year-old car, it was time to beef up the in-car equipment!After pricing out a few car kits vs. build-my-own options, I decided to purchase this version & add/upgrade some items. I was frustrated by the Product Page's incomplete list of included items, so here is my gift to you:The bag: 14" x 8", serviceable. Holds everything in the kit with room for a few extra items, but not better jumper cables. I picked up a 13” soft-sided tool bag from Sears for $5 – it holds this bag + cables. As a bonus, the Sears bag has a few outside pockets, which I filled with a few items like tire gauge, flashlight, multi-tool, etc.NECESSITIES & USEFUL ITEMS:Battery jumper cables, 8-gauge - too lightweight, with really flimsy rubber handles. Strongly suggest replacing with 20' 4-gauge cables, which won't fit in this bag - sorry.Reflective triangle3-ton towing rope/strap - FYI, a Ford Expedition or Chevy Suburban weighs about 3 tonsEmergency window breaker & seatbelt cutter - decent weight, seems sturdy. DO NOT STORE IN EMERGENCY BAG - keep it where you can reach while TRAPPED IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT.Basic tire pressure gauge - definitely replace with a good digital gauge ($8-10 on Amazon)Multi-tool in carry case + 8" adjustable wrench, both serviceable10" zip ties x 15 - unexpected bonus item, handy to haveElectrical tape, ~16' - suggest adding a roll of DUCT TAPEBungee cords, 3', 2' & 1'Glow lights x 2LESS-ESSENTIAL ITEMS & SPACE-FILLERS:Gloves, very cheap & thin, not what's shown in product image - replace with a better setReflective vest - cheap & cheesy; you're unlikely to use thisMylar emergency blanket - potentially useful, I guess?Hand-crank flashlight - replace this toy with a Real FlashlightPlastic poncho & whistle with compass - mehSmall assortment of band-aids - get a real First Aid Kit

Overall I'm happy with the emergency kit. I was looking forward to the seat belt cutter/window breaker & it looks & feels very sturdy! I was also wanting a mylar blanket. I didn't open the packaging for it but it looks as advertised. I also thought that a wind up flashlight is a plus and although it looks a little flimsy, it works right out of the box. The gloves are sticking but lo9k like the will do the job in a fix. I also was surprised how much the 1st aid kit had in it. The triangle 8s a little flimsy but flips into shape untracts, as long as you don't manhandle it, it should be fine. The pliers looks to be good quality, mind you that I'm not a professional tool user. Overall I think that it's a great emergency kit for the money & would recommend 👌
