Beautiful watch but too thick for my liking.

I have a small wrist so the watch was too thick for my preference. The crystal top is quite large and is raised above the body of the watch.

It is well designed and elegant. The clear back allowing you to see the mechanism in motion is a very cool feature.

So if you have a medium to large wrist the watch will likely work well for you.

I would be interested if the watch was thinner.

Clean and classic vintage vibes

I've been trying to get my hands on the first Liquor Store watch but to my dismay it doesn't seem like there will be any more in production. So I was particularly excited when the After Dark version arrived. During my first week of wear, more than one person asked if this was an "old watch," given its classic vintage look. They were pleasantly surprised and impressed when I told them that this was a Timex. Most people aren't used to this level of quality and such attractive design. The fabric strap also gives it a nice touch, providing a textural balance to the metallic body. This is truly a piece that can be dressed up (with a strap catch to alligator leather to be worn with a suit and tie) or down (as is with a t-shirt and jeans), or anywhere in between. I really enjoy this watch.

Almost met expectations

On the whole this is a nice watch and a fair value for the price, but I was disappointed with the movement.

The watch feels modern, mid-century modern, and classic all at the same time, which is hard to do.

The dial is well proportioned, highly legible, text is minimal but balances the whole. The gold handset and numerals really pop against the glossy black dial and the minute track helps scratch my need to know exactly what time it is.

The case is a tad on the chunky side, but I like the way it sits on my 6.5" wrist and I like my watch to stay outside my sleeve so I can read it. I'm not bothered by its height and enjoy its substantial feel.

The strap looks right on this watch in terms of width and texture. So far it seems like it would hold up fairly well. I wish it were a quick-change so I could quickly dress it up with a sleeker strap, but that is a minor thing.

Where I was disappointed was the Miyota 8215 movement and exhibition caseback. From the product photos, it looked like the movement had gotten a polished finish and the rotor a sunburst-like finish. Overall - it just looked like extra care had been put into this part and made it worth the impulse buy. If this matters to you, know that it just comes with what I assume is a standard rough finish on the movement and the rotor does not match the one in the photo at all. It's all standard issue stuff, nothing unique or much worth looking at, which made me sad.

I'm keeping it because it's a lovely watch and I'll…
