I have never bought anything but Alpha when it comes to flight jackets. But with the price that they want for an alpha flight jacket has gone up considerably in the last few years. So I caved in and bought one of these. I saw that they sold these on a sight just for pilots also so I thought I'd give them a chance. Well this jacket is bomb it Fits well looks good and it's nice and warm very well insulated. Looks almost exactly the same as an alpha for 3 times less the price! Also made in the U.S.A. so I would highly suggest if you want a good flight jacket made in the U.S.A. and you are a traditional anti racist skinhead and proud of it buy this flight you won't be sorry and anybody else out there that love the look they are excellent jackets and light but toasty.

Rothco does make a "lightweight "version but not ad much filling inside and meant more as a Spring type jacket. Keep in mind that this is a bomber jacket and it is considered short compared to a regular jacket. The bottom just reaches the top of my jeans. Arms are the right lenght and not too short .I ordered a "large", I'm 5'08" 185lbs.,

This is a cool, looks like the expensive ones, for far less. The jacket is warm. I've ridding my scooter in the rain and on cold days and felt great. The fabric is thinner than the military ones. One of my pocket buttons doesn't snap properly and comes open on its own. My biggest complaint is the placement of the left arm pocket. I feel that it is not sewn in the correct spot. When I wear this jacket the pocket and zipper are practically up against my left chest, because the pocket is directly above my bicep. I've owned military surplus flight jackets before and the arm pocket was clear out on the outside of my arm where the shoulder, triceps and biceps meet. I'm going to resew this pocket myself.

There's a number of manufacturer these days of these military-style flight jackets. It seems this style of jacket is making a comeback as a fashion statement. Most are very good and sport a wide variety of colors. I've tried several but the colors never seemed to match what was on their Amazon page. So I opted for this Rothco MA1 jacket because I owned one 30 years ago. This one felt and looked identical to the one I owned from the Army. In addition, it was only $5 more than the imitation ones. The blue on this jacket is gorgeous and the warmth is amazingly comfortable. I highly recommend this Rothco MA1 jacket.

I bought this to replace an MA-1 I bought from Galls(?) some 16 years ago. The pockets didn't like all the use and washing.
I figured, "Hey! This Rothco was a contract builder for these in the 60's. It's gotta be good!" No. Absolutely not.

Here's my issues in numbered order:
1. The outer shell was OK. No better or worse than the ages old jacket I can't let go. Cuffs seemed good as well. Arm length was OK.
2. The pockets were some thin synthetic gray material, and they were very shallow. You'd have trouble fitting an average smart phone into it. My hands were fighting for space inside them.
3. The lining of the jacket was so thin you could see through it. Flip it inside out and snag something, and you'd lose all your stuffing.
4. The zipper sucks. I had to fight with it for three minutes to get it to zip up all the way because it catches. Do they make bear traps?
5. The Chinese Factory that produces these don't seem to understand American sizes properly.
5.a.The sleeves were great for length.
5.b. Across the shoulders it was too tight.
5.c. Across the torso it was too tight.
5.d. This jacket is entirely too short. It was so busy hugging my shoulders that it couldn't drop down to my belt line.
6. Inclusion of extra snaps tells me that the snaps you put on it were junk, and it's not a great confidence booster.

I'm 5'11" and broad shouldered. So much so that I require 2XL just so it hangs correctly across my shoulders. It also lets me throw a hoodie underneath for an extra layer when needed. This failed every aspect of my requirements. I could have gone 3XL to get shoulder fit, but the bad zipper, see through lining, and shallow pockets make this a non starter. I'm returning it. And am avoiding all Rothco products from here on out.

Long story short, If you want something durable, and well built, this is not it.

First - I want to say this product appears to be incredibly well made, it seems like it would be very warm and - if it fit - comfy.

I'm a very obese man (working on that), and I have found it extremely difficult to find jackets that fit me that are not hundreds of dollars. This one looked amazing, but when I tried to put it on, although the shoulders are perfect, the sleeves are the exact length, and it's about the right size around the chest... the size does not make allowance for big people who have a larger belly than their chest.

If you're not morbidly obese this jacket is great. If you need a large size because you are a very large muscular person, then the big and tall sizes of this jacket will probably fit you great. But it is not designed for fat folks like me. It makes me very sad to have to return it.
