The description of this socks says they are for US shoe size from 6 to 12. The size of my shoes is 10, so I think this will fit me. However, it is actually slightly large. I think it may fit those who with the size from 10-15. The quality is good, but it just not really fits me.

    WEATHER

    They are excellent for Spring and Autumn weather only. With only 17% Wool, they keep the chill off one's feet, but will not keep that 'cold-to-the-bone' at bay. For that, you need to get the Carhartt 'Arctic' socks, (37% Wool)*** (See 'EDIT' below).

    LENGTH & DURABILITY

    They are 'Boot Length', (which means 'just-over-the-calf'), Wear well, and Wash well. No pilling. And, being just-over-the-calf, they stay up... which is good news for boot wearers.

    SIZING

    The Sizing was a bit of a problem. My husband wears a 10 1/2 boot, so, you would think he'd take the large-size sock that supposedly fits a 10-12 shoe. Wrong. We found that the socks were too tight both in the feet and in the calf, and sent them back in exchange for the Extra-Large, (fitting shoe size 12-15), and those fit him perfectly. No tightness whatsoever... just a very nice fit that gives good support as well.

    THE 'FEEL'

    They have no Toe-seams, are totally Re-inforced, and are so Soft & Cushy in the Toe and Heel. He says he even feels support in his Arch... a good thing for a man who is setting out cars and walking those tracks at all hours of the day and night.

    SUMMARY

    My husband is very pleased with these socks, and so am I. It seemed to take forever to find the right kind of sock for him-- Weather-wise, Fit-wise, and Quality-wise; but after many trials and errors, we finally found his 'holy grail' of Spring/Autumn-weather work socks.

    Go get 'em... you'll be glad you did.

    ***EDIT: DECEMBER 8-2011: I just found these other Carhartt socks, 'Carhartt Men's Artic Wool Heavy Boot Socks'. With 87% Wool, my husband says these are the bomb for Winter Weather, far exceeding the 37% Wool of the 'Carhartt Extremes Wool Arctic Boot Sock' I mentioned above. Take as look...     This was the first year with our cold and wet Boston winters that I finally decided to buy suitable socks to wear with my boots. Every year I have suffered with cold feet plus with having them get a little damp. These cushioned, moisture-wicking crew socks featuring ribbed cuff and reinforced sole are absolutely amazing. I did much research and chose these socks and am very happy I did. They are so well made - thick and durable. When I put them on I was struck by how thick they were and how it honestly felt like I was walking on clouds due to their softness. They ride far up beyond my ankles but manage to not be too hot. So the softness and thickness was great but how would they actually work. We have had 3 major snow storms here in Boston so far this winter and these socks have been put to the test with my winter boots. With these Carhartt socks my feet remain warm and comfortable no matter how cold the temperature plus no matter how much snow I may walk in. And my feet never feel like they are getting wet and if any moisture is getting in the boots the moisture wicking detail of these socks is doing its job. I love that these socks are high rise on me for they keep me warm but not hot and prevent the cold from also not getting to my legs. I don't sweat in these socks due to the wool blend but instead remain warm and fully protected from the elements. For me they are great. Finally I can do whatever I want in our storms or out in the snow and not be concerned about the cold or wet. And let me end by saying again - these socks are so well made and soft! Highly recommend.

    This is possibly the best pair of socks I've ever owned. My feet are not kind to socks. I wear a size US 12.5 (or 13, depending on brand) shoe/boot. This puts me at the upper range of what size feet most "large" socks claim to fit. Throw in the fact that my big toes have toenails that point slightly up even when trimmed short, and I usually end up with holes through the toe end of my socks in short order. The heels won't line up right and/or the sock will be stretched so tight my tienails wear through the toe end quickly.

    These Carhartts come in size 11-15, which puts my feet right in the middle of their size range. The heels of the socks line up with my heels, and my toes aren't constantly trying to punch through the toe end of the sock. The calves of the socks also stay on my calves! This may seem like basic stuff but I have found very few other boot socks that actually fit well.

    These socks are also very warm. I literally wore them for 48 hours straight on a cold camping trip and my feet were comfy the whole time. Days were about 40 degrees F and evenings were about 30 degrees F, and all I had on my feet were these socks and some non-insulated hiking boots. It got down to 19 degrees the first night and despite only having a 40 degree rating on my sleeping bag, my feet stayed warm all night long.

    I can't say exactly how long these socks will hold up, but they are showing less wear than any other socks I've owned at this point. I am ordering another pair or two for sure!
