- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2015UPDATE: Everything below still goes, but I ended up sending back the 9 and getting an 8.5. They're perfect now. The 9s were just too big. I'm looking to find the best conditioner/waterproof because the color on these is fantastic. Wearing them today to break them in and they're comfortable out of the box. Beautiful shoes and absolutely no faults I can find. I'm wearing two pairs of socks as well just in case, but so far, so good. High quality and looking forward to years of wearing these. There is some wear already and creasing in the leather after a little bit or wearing. My guess is that the leather is a little dried out, but I plan on conditioning them anyway, some stuff on the way. The other reviews I've seen show that these shoes (and any leather shoes) MUST BE CONDITIONED and WATERPROOFED. That's how the boots really last. The stitching and construction is great, but any leather no matter how expensive, will weather.
My sizing advice: If you normally have some room in your shoes at the end (about a pinky length if the shoes are too skinny) then go down a whole size from your most common shoe size. As stated below, my shoe size is all over the place, but 9.5 fits the best in most and the 8.5 here is perfect.
As everyone has said, these run large. Almost too large. I wear a 10.5 in Adidas, 10 in Nike, 9.5 in Puma, 9 in boots and dress shoes so I went with a 9. I maybe could even get away with an 8.5, but it would be a problem in width wise I think. The boots look huge compared to my foot, but an extra pair of socks and they fit nicely. The leather and cordovan/burgundy color is gorgeous. The finish is nice and as some others have pointed out, there are some concerns with the stitching, although it doesn't appear that anything is actually "wrong." Boots feel sturdy and are heavy. I have not worn them yet as it's supposed to be 90 degrees this week, but looking forward to fall. I have 4 other pairs of boots, and none of them were this expensive. Comparing them, these seems to be much more substantial and have a cleaner finish and look. (I have Timberlands, Aldo, Clarks, and Bullboxer). They look great with jeans and cords and the burgundy color is the new neutral so I'll get lots of good wear out of these. I'll need to add protectant as I bought these in hopes of not having to replace them for a few years like I did with my Docs - those lasted 6 years!

- Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2015I spend around 3 months researching American made boots. I looked at Red Wings, Thorogood, Danner and Wolverine. All of these brands are fairly close in price and are known for superior quality and wearability. I got to actually try on this boots (which I already knew ran 1/2 large for me) and some Red Wings. The Red Wings felt much more stiff, while the Chippewa's felt much more supple out of the box. I finally decided to hit the green light and figured as long as i wore inside for a few days, I could still return them if I didn't like them.
It has been over a month and the boots are my daily wear shoes. They are incredible comfortable. I have never had arch support issues, so there is no issue with these boots concerning arch support. I normally wear 12/13, so I went with a 11.5 and they fit great. The leather has broken in nicely and the boot wears very well, both casually and more dressy. I am extremely pleased with my purchase and feel confident that I got what I paid for; quality and longevity.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 27, 2014First pair of Chippewa boots. These service boots look great and feel great right out of the box. I got the Crazy Horse and they're a shade lighter in color than the pics on Amazon. Still look great but mine are more of a greyish brown if that makes sense. No major flaws in construction and seem to be built to last.
Anyways i'd say they fit true to size. My actual foot ,with socks on, measures about 11" or so from tip of longest toe to back of heel. I ordered an 11D and they fit like a glove even with a Dr Scholls Tri-Comfort insole added. No heel slip. I replaced the waxed flat laces with square leather ones just for looks though.
Chippewa boots are impressive. With these quality service boots at a nice price, I wouldn't hesitate to collect them all!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2016I just received the Cordovan Original Chippewa boots in a half size down (9) from my normal size, 9.5. Typically, I wear a 9.5 in all shoes. Occasionally a 10 but hardly ever a 9. These in a 9 fit well with just a little room in the toe. An 8.5 may have fit a bit snugly so I think either an 8.5 or a 9 would work for me. The 9 just having that bit of room in the toe area. I read a few reviews here on Amazon that said the purchaser received slightly worn or otherwise "used" boots or boots that appeared to get past quality control. Upon initial, but thorough inspection, my pair appears abosolutely new and never worn and I have not found any obvious signs of poor quality. I'm going to buy some comfort insoles to drop into these then wear them for the first time this weekend. I will update this review after a couple weeks worth of wears.
***QUICK UPDATE - 10/28/16***
Wore for first time for about two and a half hours. Bought Dr. Scholl's comfort gel insoles and put them in before first wear. I have not worn them without those insoles so, this quick update is based on my first wear with them in. Comfortable and, got my first compliment on the boots. Still no issues with quality or craftsmanship evident. Will update further upon more wears.
***UPDATE 11/28/16*** I recently did a ton of city walking in these boots with the Dr. Scholl's gel "comfort" inserts. Walked many hours in comfort and with no issues. Very nice.
I liked these enough that I ordered a pair in the 'Tan Renegade' color (Black Friday deal too! Saved over $120) and received them today. Somewhat disappointingly they're darker than I thought they would be. Almost as dark (though obviously different in color) as the original pair I purchased. They certainly don't look bad but I thought they'd be a shade or two lighter tan than they are. Side by side photos are included. Great boot overall with the gel inserts. Glad I bought them.
***UPDATE 12/18/16*** These boots still look great, are comfortable and fit well in a half size down from my normal size. The left boot has a slight squeak when i walk. Possibly from the heel but I can’t be sure. The pair I now have in Tan Renegade color does not squeak as these do. Both great boot nonetheless and I have gotten a few complements on both pairs.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not at all worth the money
Really can't recommend these boots. Considering the price, there's far too many quality control issues. Weird stitching mistakes, the parts not aligning properly, etc
Also, I sized down and they were still too big. I'll be returning them

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice looking boots
Nice looking boots. Exactly what I was looking for. Treated them with mink oil and they showed a very minimal color change. Leather is quite firm at first but as any brand of boots, they all need break-in. All in all, I'm very satisfied as they stand so far. Will see how they age and weather over the next year. Hopefully well.
