VERY solid build, portable, and a joy to use
With the COVID-19 pandemic happening all around the World, our family has been under stay-at-home orders/suggestion for some time while working from home. Naturally, like many other families, we started getting a bit sick of staying at home all the time. My 4-year-old son and I were looking forward to the Memorial Day camping trip to Sequoia National Park that I had to cancel... So, I wanted to do something different to bring some sort of normalcy into his life: Backyard camping.I had set up a tent, chairs, a small fire burning in a steel pot with handle, roasting marshmallows, and watching a Pixar movie from a projector. He LOVED it. Literally, we slept outside for 2 nights, and it actually felt very refreshing and almost like a vacation. I decided to get a real fire pit for our next outing. The Snow Peak Takibi had been in my cart for a while. It really intrigued me with its design, but the cost was so high, I could not justify getting something so expensive. I literally forgot about it until I decided to go ahead and buy it anyway -- anything to make your child(ren) happy, right? As it turns out, it was on sale for $240 -- $80 less than usual. NO-BRAINER! Purchased!PROS- Folds up easily- VERY strong, quality material- Japanese company (didn't know that until I received the product and saw Japanese/English instructions all over the place)--- Japanese are known for their attention to detail and perfection. This product shows it- Very well-packaged- Modular design. Add/use what you need and leave the rest stored in the included bag- Solid bag- Lifetime guaranteeCONS- Some parts are heavy- Bag has 2 velcro straps. One of them is too short- Fire pit itself may tip over if someone isn't careful (ie. kids)TIPS/NOTES- I had purchased the optional grate to help evenly spread coal around for more even cooking. That piece is very heavy (it's stainless steel but the weight feels like cast iron)Overall, I am VERY happy with this firepit. It works well with wood and coal, gives off nice, even heating, and the grill is really heavy-duty for cooking. Now we can BBQ/have fire wherever we legally are allowed to.

3.0 out of 5 stars It does not come with the coal bed
Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2021
The fire pit itself is wonderful. It's way heavier than I imagined though. And it feels kinda wobbly until you set it in the black base. Not sure if it's worth $300.

One thing though. Looking at the sample picture and thought this item contains everything needed for barbecue. Guess not. I should have checked the list of item contained in this package so it's partially my fault too. But they shouldn't have had the picture with coal bed. If you want to buy the coal bed from snow peak? Another 50 dollars plus shipping(for some reason the shipping cost is about 20 dollars.. really?)
