Performance

sounds great has nice bass and it also works perfect with Vizio tv i would recommend it if you want more than just a sound bar.  it's easy to set up unlike a Receiver where you have to run wire and mount speakers.

Overall Impressions:
If you're looking for a top of the line sound bar with cutting edge technology, the Vizio Elevate has you covered. With incredible sound quality, so many great features, and ease of use, there's no reason to choose anything else! Very highly recommended. Read on for more detailed information on my experience, and technical aspects of the Elevate sound bar.

Sound:
The sound that comes from the Vizio Elevate is incredible with every type of content I've played, whether it's Dolby Atmos, 5.1, or stereo. Dolby Atmos really shines with this soundbar, and you'll agree when you can literally hear sound coming from everywhere, including above! It really is an incredible experience. The Elevate takes gaming to a whole new level, too! I can't say enough about the exceptional sound quality this bar puts out. There are EQ presets to adjust the sound to your liking, and further customization is possible via the included remote or SmartCast app. I have owned many sound bars, and this one outshines them all. Incredible!

Style/Build:
The Elevate comes with a sound bar, wireless sub, and 2 wired surround speakers that connect to the subwoofer. The Elevate speakers are stylish and well built. Construction looks and feels durable and solid. It looks great sitting in front of my Vizio P75 (see photo)!

Inputs & Connections:
The Vizio Elevate features three HDMI connections: two inputs and one output. The HDMI output also shares the ARC port and supports the cutting edge feature eARC. The two HDMI inputs allow you to use the sound bar as a hub for other devices, which frees up HDMI ports on your television. This is a huge plus! The HDMI inputs can passthrough video signals up to 4k @ 60 Hz including 10-bit and 4:4:4, and are also capable of HDR10 passthrough. Not many sound bars on the market are capable of doing this. An optical audio input is added if you prefer to use that. There are also two 3.5mm auxiliary inputs, and a USB port for audio files.

Wireless Playback:
The Vizio Elevate has several wireless playback options. You can use a phone or tablet to stream via bluetooth, wireless, or chromecast. 

Controls:
The Elevate comes with a remote control that features a small display screen and easy to use interface. You can also control the sound bar through the Vizio SmartCast app, which allows you to change the settings, check for updates, view system information, or run speaker tests. When connected to a television or display the sound bar can be seamlessly integrated into the media system. In this case, the television controls the sound bar without having to use separate remotes. This is my preferred setup, and I don't need to use the included remote at all.

Setup:
I was able to set up the Elevate sound bar quickly and without any issues. The sub connects to the sound bar wirelessly, and the satellite speakers are wired to the subwoofer. There is enough wire that you shouldn't have any issues setting up the satellite speakers wherever you prefer. I had the Elevate connected and up and running in about 10 minutes. This is one of the best soundbars I have ever heard! I have owned a few but this is the best I have ever heard!

Incredible Dolby atmos soundbar

While this system is commonly on sale, it performs much better than even the full price tag. In fact, after having a full Sonos system (Sonos Arc, Gen 2 sub and Play:1 surrounds) I've switched over without hesitation to Vizio!

Overall sound quality is MUCH better than the Sonos Arc despite all the raving and gushing reviews over Sonos.  It took a little longer to setup because Sonos has "True Play" auto tuning where the Vizio requires you to manually tune everything. 
 After I got it dialed in, I was blown away by the overall sound quality, including the clarity in the dialog. Everything just sounds so much clearer, so much so, my partner and children even raved about it unprompted.

It's not all sunshine and rainbows though.  I continually have issue with the "SmartCast" iOS app.  It refuses to connect to the soundbar saying it can't connect, which then forces me to use the Vizio remote. Since the soundbar is connected to my TV through the HDMI Arc port, the volume is controlled by the TV already.  However, I often get into weird situation where the input changes on the Vizio soundbar even though I'm only using HDMI1 on it (there's something weird going on with the auto-detection of the inputs causing the vizio soundbar to change).  Since I can't switch the inputs on the soundbar with the iOS app, I have to either go press the physical button on the side of it or use the vizio remote.  Either is annoying given it should always just stay on HDMI1.  I have even disabled "auto detection" of inputs.

One unique feature of this soundbar is that it has an stereo mini input for a voice assistant (Amazon Echo, Google Home).  What it's supposed to do is be able to switch to that input so you can hear voice output from your home assistant.  It works well enough with my echo dot, but sometimes doesn't switch fast enough so I miss the first part of the voice prompt.. super annoying if you're asking Alexa for the time or the weather!  It's even worse with Bluetooth.  Not sure if this is fixable by Vizio through a firmware update, but here's to hoping they can!

A big miss on this soundbar is the lack of Apple Airplay support (Airplay2 let alone Airplay1).  It does support Chromecast, but since we are an Apple household, this is a huge miss.  Sonos Arc did support Airplay2 so that feature is sorrowly missed.  Fortunately, Spotify supports Chromecast and Airplay, so I can at least cast Spotify.  But other audio from my iphone isn't supported for the most part due to lack of Airplay.  This is definitely not something I'm expecting them to ever add and admittedly did cause me to pause on whether I should keep this setup or stick with Sonos.  Ultimately the price difference won out, but I do get reminded of this limitation of Airplay literally every day as it's so common to cast music in our house through iOS.

Overall this is a great soundbar and delivers on audio quality which is what it's primarily for.  It loses points on weird bugs with the input detection and terrible iOS app, but I'm hoping they can fix these with firmware and app updates. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Performance and quality outshines Sonos!

This 18-speaker Vizio P514a-H6 soundbar system is truly breathtaking and is by far the best Dolby Atmos soundbar system on the market. The four upward firing speakers are impressive and paired with the correct usage of Atmos in a film, will easily immerse anyone into the atmospheric surround sound. I would not trade this system for any other on the market currently.

Absolutely Astonishing Surround Sound Quality

Synergy

The Elevate Home Theater Sound Bar system is, in short, PURE JOY.  Vizio's Elevate was a joy to unpack, a joy to setup, and a BLAST to use.  

Right from the start, unpacking this system was so EASY.  Vizio has taken great care in the packing design of this product.  I found the extra attention to detail in the way the subwoofer was packaged (see picture) with a handle bag extremely helpful as the sub was heavy when removing it from the box.  Then there were all the cables and the remote, carefully organized into one box.  No digging around a big box for a “hidden” cable that may be floating around behind a piece of foam packaging. It's all there for you – in ONE box.  Any cable you could think of possibly needing for this system is INCLUDED with the system.

The sub and the surround sound (rear) speakers come pre-programmed from the factory for easy wireless connection.  No fumbling with “selecting channels” for proper connection.  You just plug them in – and they connect to the sound bar automatically.

Following the instructions, I was able to connect Vizio's Elevate system to my television in just minutes.  Pure bliss!  My ONLY issue came when I tried to scan the QR code on the outside of the box, which was supposed to take me to Vizio's website for easy installation instructions.  Instead, I was taken to Vizio's home page.  Not a big deal, as I just used the instructions included in the box.  I am hopeful that, once Vizio realizes the link error, they will update the QR code link to take the buyer directly to the correct page. 

The sound bar itself: It's MASSIVE.  Containing 18 speakers, this baby REALLY packs a punch!  My favorite part of the sound bar are the auto-rotating end speakers.  When a Dolby Atmos movie is selected for viewing, the end speakers SILENTLY rotate upward to allow sounds to bounce off your ceiling and into your ears, giving you a true 3D sound experience (Sounds like helicopters/jets/starships/etc flying overhead).  You will know that you're watching a Dolby Atmos movie, too, because the logos on the end speakers will display, once they have rotated assuring that you are getting the best sound possible.  The rear wireless speakers have the additional Atmos speakers built in as well, making the sound of a fleet of spaceships flying overhead throughly entertaining.

I found the remote simple and easy to use as well.  I appreciated the digital display at the top of the remote as it confirmed each setting I selected.  The display was also helpful during the initial  setup process.  Should you decide to use the soundbar for just music, you're in luck.  Chromecast comes built in to The Elevate Sound Bar, so streaming music wirelessly from your phone is a breeze.

Finally, The Vizio Elevate Sound Bar is just – pretty.  It is so well designed that, should you decide to pair this sound bar with a Vizio OLED television, the hardware is included with the soundbar to “float” it beneath a Vizio OLED TV when mounting your entire system to a wall.

I guess I should correct myself in saying that this system is not just “nice to look at” - The Elevate Sound Bar system is, well, “Vizio-ly Stunning.” [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Best Sound Bar Sound Experience EVER!

Easy setup and surprisingly very good sound. The vocals are crystal clear and the e-arc sounds amazing. Half the price of my two Sonos setups it just as good or maybe even better, the jury isn't out on that yet.
