Get the levoit Core 300s instead.
I couldn't decide between 300s or the blueair 411 auto, so I bought both. I ended up keeping the 300s. Looks: blueair Albeit personal preference, the blueair wins this area pretty handily for me. I like the taller skinnier design of the blueair given where I was going to place it *(.7 inches skinnier). Plus the fabric filter covers on the 411 allow it to blend in more with my decor. The levoit, is a giant piece of plastic, and it looks like it. The display on top is slick, but I leave that off most of the time Filter: Tie, with maybe slight edge to the 411. The filter on the levoit is about twice as thick, but has about half as much exterior surface area as the 411. Additionally I think the fabric pre-filter on the 411 will probably do a better job of keeping the actual filter from having to filter large particles. I suspect the 411's filter will probably last longer due to all of this. However given the added thickness of the levoit, I bet it's filtering smaller particles better. Filter costs: Tie 3rd party replacement filters for both are about the same. Although I suspect the 411 will need them slightly less frequently due to the increased exterior surface area of the filter. Exterior Build: Levoit The 411 doesn't really have any type of skeleton protecting the outside of the filter. While handling the 411, I was constantly concerned I'd crush the filter or otherwise deform it *(and I did). The other problem with this is blueair didn't really give you any safe place to grab the 411. The levoit on the other hand is a giant solid feeling piece of plastic. Although I won't be moving this around very often there is a good chance my dog will brush into it or poke it (she sleeps next to it), so this did matter a little. Fan: Levoit The Levoit's fan is a solid impeller type fan. When you shake the unit you don't hear any kind of play from the bearings or mechanisms. There are 4 fans speeds plus auto, (sleep, low, med, high) and auto will switch between those 4. An interesting quirk is that whenever you change fan speeds it seems the Levoit overshoots the speed slightly, and then slows the fan down from there. That doesn't really bother me though as I don't expect to be changing speeds often. The 411 however is a standard 5 bladed 6.5-ish inch fan (I didn't measure). When I shook the 411 I could hear play in the fan's mechanism. There are 3 fan speeds (low, med, high) and auto switches between them auto here In terms of air volume coming out of the top of the units the Levoit sleep, low and medium are equivalent to the low, medium, high speeds on the 411. That means the levoit's high is a whole extra gear higher of air movement when compared to the 411. The specs of the unit corroborate this fact. Noise: Levoit- This is by far the most important section to me. The 411 is audible even on the lowest setting (or auto), and to make it worse it has a baseball cards in bicycle spokes type noise (check out the video in my review of the 411). The Levoit is inaudible on sleep, and I often use low as white noise if I take a nap during the day. On Medium and High have the levoit does have a slight high pitched whistle, but I don't need to use those settings much. Power Use: Tie I used a belkin wemo insight to measure both devices at varying fan speeds, and waited for the power draw to stabilize. The insight can not measure less than 2W and instead displays <2W. Also the 300s was connected to wifi when I performed this test. Levoit: Auto <2 W, Sleep <2W, low = 5W, Medium, 9W, high= 22W 411: Auto <2W, Low <2W, Medium 2W, high 9W. As I'll be leaving this on Auto most of the time, that's what matters most to me. As both are less than 2W, my suspected running cost for both is less than $2/yr at $.11/kwh. Basically don't worry about power draw. App: Levoit In spite of myself being a smarthome enthusiast *(I have at least 70+ smart devices, and about 25+ apps to control them all), I did not care about having another app. That being said I find myself actually using this one. It was easy to get up and running on android *(I'm a nerd, but it really just worked). The big benefit is that I scheduled the purifier to run on Medium when I'm not in the room (which happens to be my office), and then turn back to Auto before I return. When I get back to my office the air smells and feels noticeably better than the rest of the house. Plus being able to tell alexa to turn up the purifier just seems cool. It will be more useful when I stick a second one of these in my daughters room and I can turn it to low for white noise without having to enter the room. So yeah I returned the 411 Auto.

Having an AQI sensor with an auto mode is pretty rare for purifiers at this price range. BlueAir is really cool for creating something inexpensive to be a set it and forget. I’ve tested and tried many different air purifiers and while I have a favorite already, this one really deserves its praises. For starters, I want to say this is definitely a bedroom-centric purifier and isn’t meant for larger open concept spaces (Opt for the 311 Auto for bigger area). The 411 auto is virtually silent on level 1. Level 2 is also pretty quiet but has a very gentle breeze sound (personally my fav for sleeping bc the white noise is calming). Level 3 definitely is a jump in sound but is good for brief quick air cleaning. Auto mode is pretty accurate with detection rate. I put out a candle that was relatively close proximity to the purifier and the sensor light turned red and gradually revved up to sift out the smoke. In another test, I blew out a candle that was further away from the purifier across the room. The sensor did take longer to begin revving up the fan (about 5 mins give or take) but nonetheless still managed to detect. I find dissipation of odors and smoke to be pretty decent. Today I was indecisive about outfits and tried on many diff things while looking in the mirror and I guess all the dust and lint kicked up and got the little guy revving up. All this to say, the AQI sensor and Auto Mode is great!

    Other positives:
-low power consumption. It’s gonna be so inexpensive on your electricity bill. Only 10watts of power max!
-stylish! The prefilters are very attractive I’m in a very modern minimalist space with black and whites and grays. The default pre filter it ships with fits perfectly! Diff decor? They have many different colors for you.

I have to say, I doubted this thing for a bit because of its seemingly lacking power. It reminded me a lot of the Levoit Vista 200. However that model is awfully weak and not worth the money. I believe the reason why the Blue Pure 411 Auto works so efficiently well, is because it is 90% filter. There’s no plastic unibody or restrictive intake grills. Just fabric and filter. Because of this, less fan power is needed to pull in air through several layers of plastic holes and super dense materials. Pretty innovative and a true example of “less is more”. Highly recommend for those who want a stylish, efficient minimalist air purifier for a small space.

I never thought I’d need one of these, but my son has been getting stuffy at night for these past few months and it disrupts his sleep. This air purifier started working pretty much immediately. Even I didn’t realize how bad my allergies were til we started using this, and I breathe so much easier now. It has a “night mode” which just means the fan is lower and quieter, but we sleep with a fan anyway and like the noise. So we turn it all the way up for max effect during the night and just leave it running on the low setting during the day. We got the mini as our rooms are on the smaller side and it works exactly as I’d hoped it would. It’s also a nicely sized and cute machine. There are different color fabrics you can put over the outside which I plan on getting later on. It’s extremely simple to use and so lightweight I was actually worried about the quality, but it works so well and is totally worth the price point. Zero complaints about this machine. Will buy this one again if the need ever arises.

So far I’ve purchased two mini max units and they seem to be working fine. One in the bedroom and one in the living area. I’ll check the filter that came in the unit, but product description says it comes with one temporary filter in unit and one extra filter, and there was no extra filter in either box, only the filters that came in the unit. I contacted the supplier via chat message and they say that the filters that came in the unit should last about 6 months. So i went ahead and ordered four extra filters which run about $9 each.
I do like the size of the units and they are quiet. Also the price is good as compared to many others.
Otherwise, my cat isn’t sneezing like she used to. And I feel they are working as expected.

The Blueair Blue Pure 511 air purifier has been a fantastic addition to my home. It’s compact, sleek, and fits perfectly in a bedroom, nursery, or small living area. The design is modern yet simple, making it easy to blend into any space. Setup was straightforward—plug it in, and it’s ready to go.

This purifier’s standout feature is its HEPASilent Technology, which combines electrostatic and mechanical filtration for top-notch performance. It captures dust, allergens, and even pet dander without making a sound. I noticed a difference in air quality within hours—my room feels fresher, and my allergies have significantly improved.

Another big plus is how whisper-quiet it is, even on higher settings. It’s perfect for nurseries or bedrooms where noise can be an issue. The energy efficiency is impressive too, so you can leave it running without worrying about your electricity bill. Maintenance is simple, with a quick filter change every few months.

If I had to nitpick, I’d say it would be nice to have a built-in air quality sensor, but for the price and performance, this purifier is excellent. Whether you need relief from allergies or just want cleaner air, the Blue Pure 511 is a must-have!

The item arrived quickly and worked as intended, shipped directly from the US by Amazon. It seems to be high quality and looks good. My understanding is that the benefits of this unit are: 1. looks good, 2. uses washable fabric prefilter to take some of the work away from the hepa filter, 3. contains an air quality sensor, 4. has a night mode which is quiet and where the light is dimmed, and 5. probably more importantly, uses the high quality hepa filters from Blueair. My wife trusts the Blueair filters and this is probably the most important differentiator for this product. In other respects, it is similar to other filters which are available. If you like Blueair, I'm happy to recommend this.

Ensure you close your bedroom door and try to put it in a central spot. Low and med setting are very quiet. High setting a little too loud. I use med and it works great.
Filters are a good price as well, something you need to consider when buying a purifier. This company has 3 different purpose filters you can get. Machine comes with the standard filter.
Also watch for the micron filtering rating. This one goes down to 0.1 micron. Forget the ones that only go to 0.3 microns as that is to big of an air particle for good clean air.

I researched numerous similar products and I was led to this air purifier. I am very pleased with the quality and look of this one. It is very quiet. We keep it in our bedroom as our dogs sleep in the room with us. The air quality is noticeably better

March 22, 2023, I am so happy I bought this BLUE Pure 411 Auto air purifier, just wish I had years ago! Full disclosure, I have severe indoor and outdoor allergies year round, post nasal drip and I have asthma. Needless to say I usually spend a lot of money on tissues, allergy medication, sinus rinse supplies and have to remove dust from my home daily and launder bedding every 3 days.

Already I can breathe better, no coughing/wheezing, wake up with clear sinuses and haven't even needed my allergy meds! It really clears out airborne odours (food/farts/sweat) and dust. It makes a huge difference for air quality especially when I am sleeping, no more snoring from plugged sinuses. I like the sound of a fan as it buffers noise from outside traffic or loud music/voices. So, I don't find this loud at all, even on it's highest setting and it's always on high 24/7.
I will update this review in 6 months and add further information based on my experience but so far it simply amazing and affordable!

****UPDATE!***July 20, 2024 It's been a year and three months! This little machine is a beast! I keep this one at my bedside. I have had it running on its highest air purifying function 24/7 since the day it arrived! It is only off while changing filters. I absolutely love it and when it is in stock I highly recommend buying it! I will be buying more of them for other rooms.

I change my "inner round accordion " filters every 3 to 6 months. I do recommend having extra filters both inner and outer just make sure they are for your specific machine. I have found that the non blue air versions of the cloth filters often do not fit well and some are made of materials that blocked the air purify function/suction. I did recently purchase a two pack of "inner" filters that are not "blue air" brand and they do fit but I will update in 3 to 6 months and let you know if they are good quality or not and provide the brand of the ones I bought. I do not think they are as good as the Blueair brand so far....I can see through the inner black part of the filter and that is not a good sign as large particles of dust and everything else smaller will be going through it instead of collected so don't believe they are real hepa filters.

I do find that the "red" light feature that indicates the filters need to be changed is not reliable so I simply make note on my chore calendar to change the filter. I have also noticed that the outer cloth filters need to be cleaned much more often. You can easily do this by vacuuming them with a hand vac or a shop vac. I have a lot of allergies to dust and asthma so I do clean mine every day or two with a quick vac of the hand vac and I either hand wash it or machine was it every two weeks by slipping it into a mesh lingerie bag and just toss it in with a load of washcloths and towels.

I will be curious to know how well this machine works as we enter into Summer "forest fire season". I will continue to provide updates with my experiences with this BLUE Pure 411 Auto air purifier! Take care and happy shopping!
