best portable fire pit evah! Used it camping - on composite deck - in driveway - IT WILL GET USED! :)
I saw this awhile ago on kickstarter and recently bought it when my existing cheap firepit rusted (i never used it). The bonfire is the best fire pit I've ever owned or imagine is even available. Here's what I like/love; a) It's portable and with the carrying bag that comes with it I've already thrown it in my car for a quick overnight camping trip. (pic) b) Whatever you put it it burns down to a small amount of ash that is easily shaken out by just turning it over and doing a quick shake. c) It's so so easy to keep the fire going... once you've got it burning it you don't need to mess with it other than adding wood. Wood placement doesn't matter since anything that goes in burns regardless of where it goes. You also don't need to "tend" the fire or move things around.. set it and forget it :) d) it's not that hot underneath and i've put it on my composite deck with just a thin fireproof mat. Amazing amount of heat without damaging things nearby. e) looks amazing What I don't like: (it's a short list) a) The bag that it came seems pretty well made including a strong drawstring.. but a seam ripped and I'll need to repair it since I really like to use the carry case. c) It stains easy.. my son got some marshmallow on it and while i haven't tried to get it off it did discolor. d) people have mentioned it rusts quickly so I got paranoid when i had to leave it out in the rain camping... it dried out with a morning fire but i'm hopeful it doesn't rust. Will update my review if it does. It's worth the money. Hopefully it lasts forever because I don't see every wanting another firepit.

VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE. Friends are jealous.
Bought this as a quick setup/pickup fire pit for my apartment’s small backyard patio. I DO use the extra ventilation ring to prevent heat damage to the patio.
So far have only used it in 30-40 degree weather here in northern Japan using store-bought split wood—which is some kind of conifer (it’s harder than pine, but not as long lasting as oak). Usually I light it as an upside-down fire (big pieces on bottom, getting smaller up to the kindling and tinder at the top with 2-3 vaseline dipped q-tips) for ease of lighting. This setup requires only a couple small pieces to be added as the fire builds and moves further down into the pit.
The VENTILATION on this fire pit is excellent! Have not had a single fire go out once lit without completely burning all the fuel.
That said, on a couple occasions the wood has been a little wet still & with the cold temps it has struggled to get the temperature up high enough to burn efficiently (where all the wood is burning at once). I trick I stubbled upon is to concentrate the heat (once the bottom most logs were burning) by partially covering the fire with a bunch of leaves. It will choke the fire for a couple minute (will be smokey), trapping the heat until the fire burns through the leaves. After that the fire is hot enough to burn all the wood at once, with nearly zero smoke & a nice volume of flames. Probably not an issue at warmer temps.
I store mine inside next to the wood after it has burned down & completely cooled off. Very easy to pick up and move. Just remember to wear shoes in case you lose grip & drop it.
    Cheers!

So, update now that temps are out of the sub-30’s...holy s#%t, this thing lights right up & gets HOT! Have figured out a few low budget tricks to get it there quickly (pine cones (10-20) around the base wood stack & a TP tube with bacon grease soaked paper towels [I was going to through it out anyways]) in the center. Easy light with kindling and once burning efficiently there is no stopping this this fire pit...did not even have to add leaves to concentrate the heat. It will burn it all down to ash. Super easy to clean & set up for the next event. Could not be happier with this purchase. Once going strong will even burn through the rain.

I have had an inground fire pit for years in our home in the Florida Keys for a long time. However, hurricane Irma decided she wanted it more than me. I was looking for a solution that would allow me to not have the monument in ground fire pit to always have to work around and this became the perfect solution. It is the best burning fire pit I have ever seen. Easy to light, the wood burns clean with no smoke, and it’s a breeze to clean up after the fire. Only thing left is a powdery Ash. I love the flexibility of being able to put this in the garage when I’m not using it and carry it out by the ocean when we’re ready to light it up. It is the perfect solution for me. I’ve used it probably six times and it still looks great. The inside as you would expect turns brown from the hot fire but the outside stainless still looks the way it did before it’s first use. Because the venting system, the quality of the fire is unparalleled with any other fire pit I have ever seen or used. Very well-designed and it works as advertised.

We bought this for a party and everyone was so impressed. Box came with well packaged tight foam frame for top and bottom of the bowl. Instruction is simple enough, put wood in the bowl and light it; how simpler can you get? As soon as the first log catches on fire, you really don't need to do anything, you don't have to keep turning them, blow air in as you would on traditional firepit; just keep adding when needed.

You don't need to keep moving the logs as it is not necessary and it is awesome to see how fast the new one will catch on fire. The air in-take from the bottom of the bowl and out let (the holes on top and more on the bottom) really works well. It is clearly mesmerizing to see it burn. The side wall gets really hot so be careful, you will be burned. The bowl isn't that heavy where moving it around is not difficult. At the end, I was surprised to see how well all the logs were burned and how little it created ashes. For the first time use, I put a cardboard on the bottom to protect the brick pave but I don't think it is needed. Overall, it looks and feels very well constructed, modern stainless steel looking, and I was impressed with the quality and how easy it is to enjoy. If you are thinking to buy one, this is a winner.

Lights quickly and easily, with only a little smoke for the first minute or two. Plenty of heat from up top, but quite cool near the sides, with almost no smoke and certainly no smoke smell on clothes and hair after. Even damp or somewhat green wood burns cleanly, and very minimal ash remains. Recommend the base accessory for use on sensitive surfaces.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lagerfeuer der nächsten Generation - trotz hohem Anschaffungspreis jeden Cent wert!
Reviewed in Germany on November 17, 2018

5.0 out of 5 stars The best fire pit I've ever owned

Over the years I've bought more than my fair share of fire pits. I've even made a couple of outdoor stoves from old propane bottles to try to satisfy the pyromaniac itch inside of me.

A couple of weeks ago I bought the Forge from wirefires.com and although it's pretty epic, it doesn't fair as well as I'd hoped when it's windy as the smoke comes through the sides. It also goes through a lot of wood.

The Solo Stove Bonfire was ridiculously easy to light thanks to the excellent airflow and once it gets going the secondary burn jets kick in and it's a truly beautiful thing to behold.

It doesn't throw as much heat out horizontally as a traditional fire pit due to the insulating effect of the double wall, however the fact that most of the heat goes straight up helps combust most of the smoke generated so there's definitely a lot less smoke and a cleaner, hotter burn. It also fairs extremely well when there's a bit of a breeze and is still remarkably smoke free.

It's a bit too big for us to take with us camping so the Solo Stove Ranger might be a better bet if you want something a bit more portable. I'm super happy with this purchase and I'm sure it will help my family enjoy more evenings out in the garden now that summer is on it's way.

5.0 out of 5 stars
