Product Description
JLab Audio is an award-winning designer of personal audio including Bluetooth earbuds, headphones and speakers. Founded in 2005, our mission is to enhance how you GO through life with incredible sound, inspired design, and innovative technology without the rockstar bill.
True to our roots, #TeamJLab embodies the So Cal life: Laidback, upbeat energy and an active lifestyle. No matter your passion, we keep you GOing with high-quality gear, inspired designs, and world class, hassle free customer support.
It doesn’t matter how you GO, just GO.
The Epic Sport2 are the second generation to one of our most famous (pre-true wireless) earbuds. We kept the same great over-ear memory wire that was perfect for runners but added more battery life at 20 hours of playtime, and an even better sweat resistance on the inside and out. With a unique nano coating material built in to both the inside of the USB charging port to protect against sweat damage and on the outside, these earbuds are more reliable than ever. It’s time to get out there and GO.

The sounds quality is excellent - although someone that prefers a lot of bass may, disagree. I prefer mid and high notes so these are a great choice. If you must have a lot of bass, these may not be for you.
Battery life is excellent. I have gone 8+ hours and have not reached the dreaded "low battery" warning. I also like the foam ear inserts because they reshape to fit my ear canal, but there are several other size ear insert pieces to choose from. I also really like that I can reshape the ear hooks to tightly fit around my ear - that keeps them in place better than most non-shape-able earphones.
I had the earlier Epic Sport, but the longer battery life is a huge plus. If I lost them, or they died tomorrow, I would buy another pair.
If you're shopping for any bluetooth headset: One star. Not recommended.
The battery life on these genuinely is incredible, but I am BEGGING for them to be integrated into a better physical design (and not a fully wireless one -- I am not a Cyberman).
The GOOD:
- battery life is still around 15 hours of continuous use after months of heavy daily usage
The BAD:
- the sound quality is mediocre -- like there's a haze of static in the background
- if you're using them as an adjunct to your phone, you're likely to miss notifications
The UGLY:
- they're painful -- like, walking home after a night out in heels painful -- by the end of the day
The SPECIFICS:
I wear headphones nearly all day, every day, as I roam around getting work done. (I have ADD, and otherwise, I'd just be roaming around, perpetually forgetting what I have to do.) I'd gotten to the point that I had two pairs -- one I started the day with, then switched out to charge, then switched back into while the other charged. I've also used bluetooth headphones for falling asleep, and there is nothing quite like waking up at 4am hearing, "Be-duh, be-duh, be-duh, buh-bum-bum. Low battery."
While I wouldn't say they last a full 20 hours, they do last around 15 (and that's after a couple of months of daily heavy use). Most people will never come up against this scenario, so it hardly matters, but it is a little irksome that there is *no* warning before the headset dies (though it is still preferred to the little 'low battery' jingle every minute for five minutes).
One of the ways it seems they save battery and last so long, however, is by going "dormant" when there's not active audio. So if I pause to do something else on my computer and then take a screencapture, I'll hear the hum of the audio coming back, but *not* the 'screencapture' sound. Same for phone notifications -- the notification sound doesn't last long enough for the audio to reengage and the sound to be heard, so be aware if you use them for that purpose.
The sound quality is pretty poor -- below standard for other headphones of this brand. It's tinny, and always seems to have a bit of a static-y hum in the background. For me, the battery life was worth the trade-off, since I'm usually listening to people talking in one form or another, not music or ASMR.
A small thing that hasn't happened yet, but surely will: the dust cover for the charging port is poorly designed. It either needs to rise up to rotate away, be designed to bend, or be retooled entirely, because I give it one more month before it breaks off (it's already showing the signs of wear suggesting that's what's coming).
Finally, on the comfort issue: Why, oh why, do they have to be this way? I genuinely have a difficult time pinpointing exactly what it is that makes them *so* painful, but I think it's the size of the molded plastic part directly attached to the ear bud. After wearing them long enough, sometimes it isn't so bad; but then I have to take them off again, and I always have to be *extremely* ginger because my ears are so sore. The best comparison I've got is an uncomfortable, though somehow manageable, pair of dress shoes. If I didn't need to wear headphones without recharging twice a day so badly, I'd *never* wear these.
(I also have one nitpick on quality control, because I suspect this doesn't apply to all pairs of these headphones: it's an absolute *miracle* if I can get them to pause using the button on the headset. This is especially irksome considering how uncomfortable these things are, because I'd rather not have to pull them out of my ears to hear someone just because the pause button isn't working.)
The volume is awful
The silicone covers that goes over the bud are awful, even the extras. They are all too big and frustrating. They make the inside of your ears feel strange, as if your ears are under pressure. You know that feeling after an airplane flight and your ears are stuffy? That’s similar to what these earbuds does to your ears. The over ear thingy that goes around your ear to keep them from falling, are extremely painful too. Especially behind the ears.
People have a hard time hearing me due to the placement of the mic on these earbuds.
I am sending these back before I can’t and I have 4 days left. Don’t purchase these
