- Reviewed in the United States on February 1, 2022I am one who spends way too much time looking at reviews before buying something online. That being said, I have purchased several different ear buds from different sources that all looked good on paper, but I kept being disappointed.
I like to wear earbuds outside when working in the yard and walking with my two dogs. Somehow, there always seemed to be one or two major deal breakers that lead me to try different models again and again. Why is it so hard to find an earbud that is a good fit and does what I want an earbud to do?
Finally, I think I found a winner with the Powerbeats wireless ear buds.
First, let me explain the issues I had with other buds I used. They may be similar to your experience.
The biggest deal breaker is when the adjustable ear cups just jump off, never to be seen again. Sometimes I just look at them and they pop off like popcorn. That is SO annoying! You might as well forget about that ear cup, it is now a wanted fugitive! With only a couple replacement sizes, I would have had to order more if I wanted to keep using that model.
Second, its not much easier to find the earbud itself, in the grass, especially when it is small and matt black.
Also, most ear hooks are just soft rubber silicone. They are comfortable, but are not adjustable in any way. The only adjustable thing about the earbud is the inner ear cup size.
Right away, I need to say the Powerbeats High Performance Wireless ear buds look as good as they sound.
PRO's
First, the replaceable ear cups are well made and it takes a good pull to get one off for cleaning or to change sizes. When removing the ear cup, they actually make a popping noise, like a cork. When installing one, I can feel it snap on. I will tug on it to make sure it is on and that it will not come off "by accident." I have not lost one yet!
Second, having a wire connecting the two earbuds means that I will not lose an earbud outside somewhere. I have had them come fall out when changing coats. They were either hung up inside my coat somewhere or down at my feet and so easy to find.
Third, the adjustable ear hook has a bendable wire inside, which actually allows it to be adjusted to my size. That is very nice, customizable option.
Fourth, there is a volume control button on one earbud and a power button on the other. That is an unexpected surprise and really nice. Most buds I have used in the past were all of a very simple design, without these two options. The phone calls all sound good on my end and no one I talk to say that I sound different.
I am also an iPhone user and the buds come with a very short 8 inch Lightning charger. I do have to say I have never seen a charge cord that short before. They also come in a real nice box, well packaged and protected. Everything about this product looks and feels better than what I have had before. I'm sold!
CON's
The only thing I find to be a problem is when the wire connecting them gets between my skin and shirt collar. This always tends to pull the wire to one side or the other, which will put tension on one ear bud.
I have to adjust the wire position frequently when actively working. Even if I do not have a collared shirt, they will eventually pull to one side just from turning my neck. I think I will try wrapping that wire with something to reduce the friction or actually clip it to my shirt. I'm still working on that one.
Overall, I really like them. I have not lost one ear cup yet and I have used them dozens of times. They also sound really good, with plenty of bass!
I would definitely buy these again and recommend that you try these yourself.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2021I've been using this earphone for about a week and I've been pretty impressed with it so far. I am coming from a Plantronics Backbeat, which was a frustrating product because it would random drop its Bluetooth connection.
Pros
-----
- Decent battery life
- Easy to get set up and use
- Big soundstage (definitely bigger than I would have thought)
- Detail retrieval and frequency response is good (at the current price of $80, it's outstanding). Sound signature emphasizes bass, but it's not so bloated that it interferes with the rest of the frequency response. I personally like it (I'd drop the bass down just a tad if I could, though). A comparable pair of headphones I own to this are the Bose QC25, and the Beats have substantially better detail retrieval.
- Uses noise-isolating silicone tips, so background noise is very low.
Cons
------
- Because it's a noise-isolating earphone with silicone tips, you may have to spend some time finding a set of tips that fit comfortably (additional ones are included). If you don't do you this, you will likely find the default tips installed on them to be uncomfortable, making them usable for no more than a couple hours before it starts to hurt.
- On an Android phone, the battery level can only be retrieved from the Beats app. It doesn't get communicated to the Bluetooth "app" itself, so you can't see the level just by swiping from the top and looking at the Bluetooth icon.
- The wire connecting the two earphones together is grippy to the point where I can't have it sitting on my neck; when I do that and I turn my head, the friction between my neck and the wire is strong enough to move the wire around. That tends to pile the wire up on one side of your neck and pulls at one of the earphones. It's annoying enough that I have to put the wire in front of my head (so it looks like a chinstrap). Looks a little stupid, but whatever.
- Short charging cable that uses Lightning connector, so of course that renders all of my micro-USB cables useless. I refuse to buy an extra Lightning cable on principle, so I am stuck with this one.
- Wire is a bit microphonic.
- Doesn't make a sound when you turn it on (only light comes on). So, if you are already wearing it and go to turn it on, you can't easily tell that you've successfully turned it on.
PSA: Your hearing is one of the most important features of your body. Hearing loss and tinnitus are real and will eventually catch up to you one day if you play your music too loud for long periods of time. Play your music at a safe volume, please!

5.0 out of 5 stars Never fall off my ears
My ears don't accommodate the wireless earbuds well (AirPods) so I tried these ones. I chose them because of the ear clip and the cable because I thought it would make it harder for them to fall off, or just one of them falling off. I was right. I can do whatever and they stay in place, no matter what. The ear clip attracts sweat, but other than that they are very good for working out. The cable length is just right, not too long or short, so it doesn't get in the way like the extra long cable from the Beats Flex. Battery life is excellent, and s is sound quality and sound isolation for conference calls and video conferences. I charge them every third day, so I think they will last long. The only downside is Apple discontinued them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bom equipamento

4.0 out of 5 stars Great headset, with a few buts
I bought this in Feb 2021. It is still going strong.
Pros
1) Amazing sound quality
2) amazing mic quality ( only one mic on the right side)
3) standard iphone lighting charger ( one cable for both handy when traveling)
Cons:
1) As seen in the picture there is a weak point in the wire which in few years starts to wear out and will expose the wires inside. I had to cover it well so it lasts a little longer
2) the bluetooth connection is little funny sometimes it doesn’t connect especially when my phone is connected to the car or with facebook messenger calls. In both those situations I always have to turn it off and then turn it on again to connect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliable and cost effective headset for running
The Powerbeats High-performance is very good for running! This is the only design that will not fall off when running and keep the music going without losing connection to my phone. It’s also great sound quality when compared to other famous brand. Its price is also reasonable! Got Apple Care to go with it in case of issues reported by other users.
