      I've avoided tablets for awhile, just never saw a reason to obtain one while I hard laptop for work and used my phone for recreation. The price points of the other Ipad models also dissuaded from giving the series a try. However, I'm really happy I picked this up during Cyber Monday. The screen, while not Ipad Pro level, is pretty nice considering the price point, and the battery life on this thing is pretty insane: heavy use and it still lasts a day-and-a-half. Obviously the specifications will never compare to the Pro series or, older, Air models, but for those interested in what a Ipad may offer (or the apple ecosystem on a tablet as a whole), I think this is a great introduction.

      My old iPad 4th gen from 2012 was getting quite slow, and they are no longer supporting updates. That still worked for me as I was only looking at email and using the Optimum app to listen to TV in the kitchen while cooking. But, since I toned down my tv service and can't watch local TV in my bedroom anymore, only a firestick tv in there now, the wifi kept cutting out on me in there and the screen would freeze constantly... made me crazy. I kept thinking it was because the router was on the other side of the house that I wasn't able to get the wifi in there. Then I started thinking well, my echo works in there, so thinking it might be the old iPad wifi "chip" in there I treated myself to the newest barebone iPad I could get, which I found for $249. And it was a success! TV on the iPad no longer freezing, YAY! Screen much nicer and a little bigger, volume better, and I can purchase things using the iPad now since the security is up to date. Very happy with it.

      I’ve been using an iPad or many years, going back to the first version. I generally buy the most recent model every couple of years, and sell the one I’ve been using. This has worked out quite well, but I have noticed a few aspects of the newer iPad’s that are not as good as earlier models. For example, I used to get about a week without recharging my first couple of iPads. I’m getting at most two days before needing to recharge the battery of my new model...and that’s using it no more than the early versions. Also, for the first time, ever, I’ve noticed that my current iPad keeps crashing Every so often when using its browser, and also under Chrome. I have never had that problem, ever, with any of my previous iPad iterations. The crashing necessitates a powering off of the iPad, which appears to be the only solution.

      Nevertheless, I use the iPad for 90% of my computing, and will continue to do so. Even with its new shortcomings, it’s still the best solution for my needs.
