Review of the Logitech G Pro along with 4 other mice

Review of the Logitech G Pro along with 4 other mice
My DeathAdder 3G had been acting up on me for the past couple years and despite my attempts as resuscitating it (tried using compressed air on click switches as well as doing a 'scotch tape trick' on scroll wheel), the unit finally stopped working. My problems with this mouse at the end of its life were that 1) a click would sometimes register an additional click - making me accidentally open files when I wanted to just select them. This made dragging files around really frustating. 2) The scroll wheel would also randomly insert an upward scroll movement in the middle of a down scroll - which would make viewing webpages and documents a chore. My requirements for a new replacement were that 1) I wanted a mouse with good switches (preferably Omron) to avoid the double click problem. 2) A scroll wheel that would smoothly scroll and was of solid construction to not end up w/ the same scroll problem. 3) A mouse that could entirely turn off its LED lights as I have my desktop in my bedroom and prefer to have no external lights. I ended up trying several off of YT Rocket Ninja's Top 10 Mouse list. Although I do not game very much anymore, I figured a mouse that could survive the rigors of heavy gaming would be of higher quality than other office mice and would thus last longer and provide better feedback. Here are my thoughts on various mice that I tried and the Logitech G Pro which I finally ended up getting. (I tried each mouse for about a month to give me time to form a proper opinion.) Redragon M801 Mammoth - This mouse was the first candidate that I tried based off of Amazon's recommendation list. It had a really nicely textured mouse surface and the clicks were really crisp (Omron switches). The mouse was of a comfortable size for my hand and the cord was a nice braided one. It really was a quality piece and the price was by far the cheapest out of any of these other mice ($28). The software was also really light compared to the Razer Synapse software which seemed to want to update every 2 days. My main problem with this mouse was that you could only turn off the LED lighting to the wheel and dpi switches, and not the giant slash and side trim pieces. I did however find a YouTube tutorial that showed how you could unscrew the assembly through the weight compartment to pull the internal connector to disable the lights but did not want to go with the hassle). For people that don't care about the LED lights and/or on a budget, I would actually give this a 4* recommendation. Logitech G403 Prodigy - The next mouse I tried was the G403 after discovering Rocket Ninja's YouTube page. This was his #1 selected mouse so it was a good next choice. I learned that having the distinctly separate mouse buttons from the chassis aided in the longevity of the click buttons (The DeathAdder 3G had the buttons integrated in the overall shell of the body). Unfortunately, I found the mouse wheel to be much looser than my original DeathAdder as well as the Red Dragon and decided to return this mouse and look for alternatives. (3.5*) Razer DeathAdder Elite - I went with the DeathAdder Elite after my experience with the G403. Being a more expensive version of the original DeathAdder and also scoring high on the Rocket Ninja list, I thought that being done with this process and getting the updated version might be my final answer. The mouse was almost identical to the DeathAdder I had before with better mouse texture and lighter clicks. Unfortunately, it just felt like the old DeathAdder I had in nicer packaging. I strongly believe that in a few years, I would have ended up with the same problems as much current DeathAdder mouse. I also felt that it did not warrant the more expensive price point of $67. For a $40 mouse, it would be okay. For a $67 mouse, it felt cheap. And with mixed reviews and Razer's reputation of having products which do not last, I also ended up returning this. (3*) Nixeus Revel - Next was the fairly inexpensive Nixeus Revel. It was the first software-less gaming mouse that I tried and it had several really high points and one serious low point. I found the product to be fairly sturdy, the buttons and mouse wheel were really good. This mouse was the first one thus far to not have an LED built into the wheel assembly itself and I felt this added to the build quality of the assembly (solid block of plastic vs hollowed out wheel w/ a light). The downsides: If you left the mouse alone and let the screensaver turn on, the mouse would also "fall asleep". Clicks would not be responsive, and the scrolling would automatically switch to the lowest DPI setting. I found that if I switched DPIs, all these symptoms would be alleviated - but again, it was a really weird problem to have. Other reviewers noticed the same. Also, LED lights could not be turned off. (3*) Logitech G Pro - Lastly, I arrived at this mouse. It had good build quality with the Omron switches and even came with a braided cord. It also had the separate buttons from main mouse body and a non lit mouse wheel. LEDs were also programmable to be completely turned off. I feel that this mouse really met all my mousing requirements and should definitely be on your short list as well. (5*)

Razer DeathAdder Elite - I went with the DeathAdder Elite after my experience with the G403. (3*)

Nixeus Revel - Next was the fairly inexpensive Nixeus Revel. (3*)

Logitech G Pro - Lastly, I arrived at this mouse. It had good build quality with the Omron switches and even came with a braided cord. It also had the separate buttons from main mouse body and a non lit mouse wheel. LEDs were also programmable to be completely turned off. I feel that this mouse really met all my mousing requirements and should definitely be on your short list as well. (5*)

Review of the Logitech G Pro along with 4 other mice

Reviewed in the United States on March 18, 2017

(I tried each mouse for about a month to give me time to form a proper opinion.)

Redragon M801 Mammoth - This mouse was the first candidate that I tried based off of Amazon's recommendation list. This is easily one of the best gaming mice i've owned. It has amazing response time and is reliable. I have yet to experience any type of latency with it, and and very pleased.

The software: The software was easy to figure out, but not the easiest to locate (the download link), but after 5 minutes or so of digging through logitech's software library i found it. It has so many customizable features which can be linked to different profiles for different games. This is a huge help when say, you're playing an FPS and need to cool off because you have that one guy in comp that is playing an offensive sniper and wont switch or join your teams chat, you can change your game and the mouse / software will automatically choose what profile you have assigned for that game. So you're quick melee is now your rejuvenation in MMORPG, or something of the sort. The mouse software also allows you to calibrate any sort of surface or mousepad with it, so it stays shark and reliably responsive with the amount of sensitivity you want.

The mouse is very attractive and impressive. The lighting is well done and can be customized in the software, like most others relative to this one. The color can be set to different sleep times therefore making it able to rest instead of constantly cycling through a rainbow color pattern. Of course i don't use this setting, if something has the capability to change colors endlessly ill have it changing colors endlessly.

The mouse doesn't heat up besides the obvious body heat you'll release while using it. Its extremely comfortable, and fits almost perfectly in my hand. It has a nice weight, not to lite and not too heavy, i would call it a "controlled weight. " but that may not be the right terminology for it. Theres a button in the middle just above the mouse wheel that controls profiles / saved dpi setting, but like i said before, you can change this and customize it to anything you would like.

I can't honestly compare it to any of its competitors because i've not used them, but this mouse sure does kick my retired $20.00 Razer mouse's ass without a doubt. For a casual gamer who wants the a quality response time thats reliable, and to be able to customize nearly anything about the product this is a good fit, im sure. The price of this mouse is fair, and spending anything more than this wont necessarily get you that much other than cosmetics and the option of wireless. Remember, even though wireless is very advanced compared to a few years ago, it still has more latency when compared to a wire mouse. So if you're looking for quick response that you can count on, stay wired.

This is now my everyday mouse and i expect it to be for a good chunk of my future. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs to upgrade out of the department store $20.00 mice.

I have been playing FPS(First Person Shooters) for over 20 years, mice are my specialty. I have a huge bucket of past mice and broken mice that have failed on me during the years. Mid 2000s my favorite mice manufacture was Razer, but there was a time of about 6-9 years where I could not find a proper mouse or even a manufacture that I liked.

Back in 2014 Logitech released their new lineup of mice and I decided to take a chance. I started with the G302 and it was amazing but it did not have the incredible PMW3366 Sensor so the mouse would loose its bearing in low sensitivity/high movement situations. They released the G303 later that year with RGB Support and the PMW3366 Sensor. I currently own 4x G303 and recently purchased this PRO.

The pro is a redesigned G303. Same sensor, the back of the mouse was redesigned to be more smooth. The mouse is responsive, never fails and looks great. It did not say anywhere about RGB Support, but it does come with RGB Support. You don't need to keep the Logitech Software installed once the mouse is configured, it just saves everything onto the mouse.

      Pros:
      Good Mouse cable braid
Good Shape, ambidextrous but the buttons are only on the left side.
PMW3366 Sensor, one of the best tracking Sensors on the market.
      Very Nice packaging.
Software is responsive and just works!

      Cons:
While the material quality is good its not the best, it could be better
Price is probably high because of the RGB Support because the G303 used to be like 59$ (USD) / 79$ (CAD)

I want to write this review for people who are like me and are very particular with their mice. My hands are very small, so honestly I was basically stuck with the G203, the pro, or the pro hero. Originally I had got the hero, but after going through about 4 of them, all of them had issues with the USB being extremely loose and not staying connected. Frustrated, I purchased a 203 for around 35$ on sale and I was happy with it, but the cable felt super cheap compared to the rubber on the hero, and the finish on the 203 is very gritty and rough, not terrible -- but not ideal for me. Then today, I saw the Pro was on sale for 49$, and the only thing that had been holding me back from ordering it before besides the price was the rumoured awfully thick and stiff braided cable. Well, today upon receiving it after the incredible sale prompted me to give it a chance, I wanted to let others know the cable is not that bad. Honestly, it is a little thick but I don't feel too much drag; but it is important to note I am a MOBA player and use around 1200 DPI, so perhaps for FPS games which require ultra low DPI it could potentially be slightly bothersome
But honestly I feel even in that situation it would still be fine and would be even more certainly fine if paired with a mouse bungee (I don't think it's necessary though). All in all, I am happiest with this one as it has no QC issues that the FOUR copies of the Hero all had, and it performs great for my needs. The paint finish feels nicer on this one too, and all the buttons are crisp and sound great. Trust me, I am extremely picky with my mice. Grab this thing on sale if you can, I would abosolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a mouse of this size.
