Display: The OLED touch screen is a nice feature, it is fairly accurate with the exception of sometimes not reacting to quick swipes. The brightness is perfect but can be hard to see in direct sunlight. This Mi Band has the lift wrist to view option, however it doesn't always work and you can end up having to touch the screen to wake it.
App: The compatible app is very functionalable, but not structured in a very organized way, there is a lot of changing tabs to view the top most wanted things to see. Also the graphs and displays could be improved to show your weekly and monthly progress.
Step counter: when I first started wearing this I was getting so many more steps then I thought should be accurate. So I put on a different brand and compared them, also I would count my steps and compair what the band read vs what I was actually doing. I came to find out that this band was more accurate then some other ones, and that it never over counted my steps, but would slightly under count them. So for every 100 steps I took about 10 steps would not be counted making it 90% accurate. Now that figure was for walking around the house. When doing a straight walk on the street it would be a lot more accurate at picking up every step.
Call/Text/App reminder: I never miss a message with this band. Calls come in perfect. Text message are easy to read and you can see the entire message, plus go back and read them later. Only 5 messages will be stored before the oldest falls off as new ones come in. The app reminder are great, their is all the big ones like Facebook but I loved seeing that it did the less common ones as well, like YouTube and Snapchat.
Heart Rate: Heart rate is really accurate. I notice its at it's best for accuracy when you have it just do it reading throughout the day. When you manually do it sometimes it will display the failed sign.
Sleep monitor: The sleep monitor does not have any flaws. It is 100% accurate on when I go to sleep, when I wake up and Everytime I get up in the night. It's taught me a lot about my deep sleep. My husband has been borrowing it at night because he's been curious about his sleep.
Weather: weather is accurate to local predictors, and its awesome having the next and following day predictors.
Battery Life: I have constant text message vibrating this band, and every function at its highest setting (more battery drainage) and it still holds a charge for about a week. Can't complain about that.
*Does not have a lot of extra bells and whistles like swimming and jogging, also does not have a blood pressure or oxygen monitor. However keeping those kind of things off has made it so they can really prefect the fetures that it does have, and keep it at it's price point.
While the Mi Band 3 is not a direct Pebble replacement, and it is more a fitness tracker than a smartwatch, it offers the key features that **I'm** looking for: Time & date, weather, phone notifications, long battery life, affordable price. I like that it has a heart monitor, and it isn't without its quirks, but so far, I really like it.
PROS: Slim, lightweight, long battery life, heart monitor, waterproof, changeable bands, inexpensive
CONS: Screen size, screen type (prefer e-ink), no weather on watchface.
OBSERVATIONS: The screen is a bit too small for my tastes, and while I'd love it if the Mi Band 3 had an e-ink screen like the Pebble Time, it is still readable and functional. Just know that in bright sunlight, the Mi Band's screen is not very readable.
There are 3 watchfaces included, and no more. They are simple and easy to read, however I wish weather was displayed on them as well. I know screen real estate is at a premium, but I'd love to see a weather icon and the current temperature. Instead, you have to swipe to the Weather screen.
The black silicone band is very comfortable. I also purchased a silver Milanese replacement band, so it looks nicer with more formal clothes.
For the price, this can't be beat. The Mi Band 3 not a pure Pebble replacement, but it provides everything that I need, and it's very affordable. So affordable, that I'm not worries if it breaks, since I can just buy another one cheap, and when I sync it to the Mi-Fit app, it restores everything back to where things should be.
Pros:
-Inexpensive. At time of purchase this band was going for around $30 when fitness bands are often pushing $200+ dollars these days. I just can't justify spending that much on smart watches because I don't think the usage is there yet. A "budget" watch with the right features is the way to go.
-Sport clasp. It absolutely infuriates me that so many watches use a traditional watch clasp. I spend all day typing on a work-provided Macbook. Having a steel watch clasp scrape on my aluminum laptop is awful. This watch has a small metal center piece to its clasp, but it scrapes far less than a traditional clasp.
-Silicone sport strap. Comfy all day. Cleans easily. You can buy replacements online. It also survives in the pool or shower.
-50m waterproof. I find that being able to wear my band in the shower is the only way I'll wear it all day, so this is a massive bonus.
-Battery life. This band can easily go for several days to a week, even with heart rate monitoring every 30 minutes. You will only get a few hours if you turn on continuous pulse for a workout, but that's plenty for a run. I forgot my charger on a vacation and lowered all the settings, and the band can easily function as a watch for 2 weeks straight. Few competitors are anywhere near that.
-Heart rate monitor. At this price range, this feature means the Mi Band 3 instantly wins its class. You can take a pulse reading anytime, or enable periodic checks, or just enable a sleep tracking mode that will only take your pulse in order to help check your sleep quality.
-Stopwatch, workout timing, step counter, distance estimator, and calories burned. Even if they're not super accurate, they're still great for comparison from day to day and I'm fine with that.
-Still getting regular updates to the app and firmware, so hopefully it will continue to improve.
Cons:
-Proprietary charging station. You need a silly little strap that's only a few inches long to connect the band to USB charge.
-The notifications and weather features are basically useless. 9 times out of 10 when I look at my band the notifications and weather just tell me I have to sync to the device to update data. Desperately needs an overhaul.
-The interface is not great. The watch is pretty random about how it interprets your swipes, so trying to accurately run the stopwatch or switch between workout timing and pulse tracking will get frustrating. Sometimes it doesn't want to wake up exactly when you tap it, and it will take a few extra taps for seemingly no reason. The automatic lift to see display feature often goes off in a dark bedroom and annoys my partner. To be fair, it is getting a bit better with every update, but this watch is way better when left in a passive mode where you just use the app to check what step and pulse info you've gotten.
-Heart rate tracking is still in its infancy, for all smart watches. Aside from a very expensive watch that you have to really cinch down on your arm tightly to get accurate readings, the heart rate monitoring is ballpark at best. I think it's fine for day-to-day comparison using the regular update features, but don't expect one single reading to be right on the number during a workout.
Overall:
I think the smartwatch / fitness band market as a whole is more hype than reality. I've never owned a smartwatch that really added much to my life, other than ones that got notification popups so I could see if an important message came in during a meeting without having to check my phone. The Mi Band 3 doesn't do push notifications, but it does do almost everything else. With that in mind, I think the Mi Band 3 is an amazing deal for its price.
The Mi Band 3 works best if what you really need is a step counter and sleep monitor. Turn off the lift arm to see display feature so it won't bug you at night. Just tap it when you want to see the time. The notification feature is basically useless, as is the weather, so disable those screens. In this mode the band lives for several days to a week between charges, which is wonderful. I find the sport silicone strap to be wearable at all hours, so as long as I keep it clean it stays on my wrist permanently except for charging. This is exactly what I wanted from a fitness tracker, so I'm massively happy about what it DOES do. The only problems are with the things it tried to do and doesn't, so I subtract one star.

Absolute Kaufempfehlung!
