VERY nice upgrade from Roku 3
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have been using Roku 3 for many years now, and the "3" still had the ability to upgrade to new programming and hold extra apps due to it's memory card, but the NEW Roku Ultra really seems snappy! I did install the microSD card from the former Roku3, and it reformatted fine, but from what I understand, one should not NEED to use a memory card in these newer models. If you do, put it in first, the HDMI plug fully covers the tiny SD card slot in back. Snappy? What do I mean? Definite and fast channel changing between apps, Remote has a GREAT feel to it, not too heavy but well-made...and, although it could be in my perception only, since I installed these on two 4k capable sets, the color saturation seems better, I guess you could say the color seems "deeper." I used to use the internal apps in my Sharp TV for best color, but now the Roku does the job equally well if not better. Running one wired and one on wifi, no issues after 3 weeks of daily use. Did not try the headphones as i don't use this feature...but this Roku model should be at home with me for many years!

Love, love, love it!!!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love not having multiple remotes on my coffee table. This one remote seems to turn on and off all my electronics, including my TV and my surround sound system. No need to have anything else on the table. And I love just asking for what I want to watch instead of always having to go through all the apps to get to everything. Really cuts down on the search time. And it has so many apps, it's really wonderful.

Roku has it down to make it easy to stream!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Roku Ultra 4k box and remote make streaming very easy toset up and for your family to work seamlessly. Helps make the cutting the cord solution easy too! This combined with YouTube TV and say good by cable company!

Hands down the best streaming device ever!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have used Roku virtually since they first came out and have always loved them. Fast forward to the Ultra, we got one several years back for our Master a Bedroom and loved the channel selection, ease of connection and above all the superior streaming quality. The voice command and headphone jack is great too (the included JBL earbuds are also great sounding and comfortable) as well as universal control of our old Samsung TV. Fast forward to today, we bought a second one for our 48” Insignia TV and have zero regrets. And...Disney+ is now supported. Win-win all around!

Bought it cause it has ethernet.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. No way to turn radio off so if you want to limit exposure to radio waves you will have to wrap it like I did. Remote also uses radio waves and it will work through wrap. You have to use tinfoil first then aluminum screen to get rid of most of the waves coming from it. It does not overheat.

The Best Streaming Solution
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are plenty of gadgets for streaming Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, etc... but this is the best. Especially if you connect this through an ethernet cable to your cable modem. Sure you can use this and plenty of other streaming gadgets through Wi-Fi but don't! A direct ethernet connection will give you the best possible performance and also keep your Wi-Fi open for your laptop, tablet and phones.

Roku - Ultra 4K Streaming Media Player with JBL He
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a really nice unit. One of the best things about it is the use of headphones that come with it. You just plug it in and it mutes the TV sound! No more disturbing anyone in the room.

Q: QuestionWill the roku work on a non smart TV?
Asked by Tracy.
- A:Answer Our one Samsung non smart tv has no round connection to plug in Roku box. But it does have a HDMI port. So what to do? All our other tvs are smart tvs.

Q: Questionwhat channels does roku give need turner classic lifetime all news tbs fox etc
Asked by lucky.
- A:Answer We went with YouTube TV. It has TCM, TBS, all your local stations, plus TNT, FX, HGTV, ESPN, etc. $50/month for everything. I highly suggest it. We got a free 5 day trial and never looked back. You can add it on Roku by going to Streaming Channels, then search on YouTube TV.

Q: QuestionIs there a difference between the Roku Premiere and Ultra? I don't need the headphones, so I'm wondering about picture quality etc. I want to cut Spectrum cord, as they hold the monopoly in my CA area and too many $$$. Thanks!
Asked by CS.
- A:Answer Personally, I would go with the Ultra. It's more than just the headphone feature. I purchased an Ultra about 18 mos ago for our Samsung tv. I had tried a fire stick and wasn't impressed. Last month, I purchased the newest Roku Ultra -- not that there was any wrong with the first one -- but the newest model had the one feature I missed -- a MUTE button! Why they don't advertise this more -- I don't know! It also has 2 short cut keys, micro sD, USB ports. You can add more memory via the micro sD card (I haven't yet) and the USB port I used to add my own photos to the screensaver. There is an Ethernet port but I have had no wI-fi issues! I too, wanted to escape Spectrum and haven't looked back! Excellent picture quality. The former one I just put in my kitchen. I haven't had a TV there since dropping Spectrum. btw it tucks neatly under the upper cabinet out of sight -- I did purchase a short HDMI cable from amazon as BB ='s shortest was 6 feet. Both Roku Ultra's are functioning great.! Lots of free channels and I subscribe to ATT Now as I get a discount -- more channels I actually watch than ever on Spectrum. Also, no problem streaming Prime, Showtime, Netflix, etc. Check out the Roku website https://www.roku.com/products/players . If it's for a kids or guest room or not often used then go with a lower cost option. My advice -- go with the new Ultra 4670 even if you wait for a sale!

Q: QuestionWill this model connect up with my bluetooth headphones to watch tv without the wired earphones?
Asked by Jo.
- A:Answer Just use the Roku app on your phone, then listen via the Bluetooth device paired with your phone. Bonus: Using the app is better than using the Roku remote.

Q: QuestionWhat if my TV is not 4K?
Asked by Midiman.
- A:Answer Hi Midiman, If your tv is not 4k you would only get 1080p or whatever resolution the tv has in which you are plugging the Roku into. So if it is a 720p tv, you get 720p. A 1080p tv is 1080p, etc. Hope this helps. You can still buy the 4K box incase you upgrade your tv one day though. It will still work because the Roku automatically senses what your tv‘s display is capable of producing and adjusts accordingly. That is a pro perk to the newer Roku lineup.

Q: QuestionI'm reading that this unit has storage capabilities - SD and USB. Just what is the storage for? Can I store programs off the Roku, or is it for viewing my own photos/videos via the Roku?
Asked by TacomaDad.
- A:Answer The ROKU USB port will allow access to thumb drive storage. We have many family photos scanned to jpegs and old home movies converted to MP4 format. This allows us to view and watch them on the TV via the Roku. Also, if you put all your MP3 music on a thumb drive you can play music too. The Roku has a media app you do this all through. I've never used the SD slot - just the USB with thumb drives.

Q: QuestionIf I use the headphone (which plugs into the remote) does that cancel out any sound that would normally come from the TV speakers? Can it be connected so volume from headphones and TV are separate?
Asked by PianoMan1048.
- A:Answer All sound is transferred through the remote once you make the connection to headphones. This includes app sounds and tv sounds. No noise goes through your tv speakers at this point.
