Countertop cache.

Set one of these covered stoneware jars on the countertop, and you just might think you’ve been whisked away to a rustic French kitchen. Each antique vessel makes a picture-perfect home for flour, sugar, coffee, tea, you name it, and can handle all your pickling tasks too (that’s what they were originally used for, after all). Now, about how these gems got here: Every salt-glazed piece was hand-shaped in the Loire Valley in France from grey clay—shoutout to the ridged lid and handles on the sides—then salt-glazed to create a classic sheen. We’ll take one of each size, please.

Wait till you hear the story behind this rare collection: It goes back to 1847, when Stanislas Renault first opened his workshop in Argent-sur-Sauldre, France. One move and 173 years later, the Poterie Renault business had stayed in the family for five generations, continuing to handcraft iconic stoneware from French clay (and even fire it all in the original kiln). Sadly, they’re closing their doors—but not before we were able to snap up a treasure trove of vintage pieces. We brought them here just for you, and they’re available exclusively at our Shop.

Poterie Renault

France
Poterie Renault got its start way back in 1847 in Argent-sur-Sauldre, France. Five generations later, the family was still handcrafting their iconic stoneware from local grey clay in the Loire Valley. They’ve since had to close up shop—but we’re sure glad we have their classic French kitchen salt-glazed pieces to remember them by.
