I also highly recommend checking out her podcast “Hey Girl” if you want to soak up more of her wisdom!
When Alex announced that she would be releasing a guided affirmation journal, I pre-ordered a copy for a friend & a copy for myself immediately. I LOVE this journal. It is aesthetically BEAUTIFUL - but more importantly, the writing exercises give me the space to dig deeper every day. I know that when I sit down to complete a writing exercise in my Today I Affirm journal, I’m setting the tone to step into the rest of my day in a more grounded, calm, and wise way.
If you’re reading these reviews trying to decide whether or not to buy this journal - BUY IT. RIGHT NOW. This journal is an investment in yourself, your life, and your self-care + writing practice.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2019I experienced several major losses in 2018 and never really had a chance to grieve one before the next one was upon me. This left me feeling bottled up and full of unbridled anger. Anger at the world, anger at my lost ones, anger at myself. I bought this journal hoping I could at least work through the grieving portion of my anger and was honestly surprised when suddenly I felt a lightness within myself. The anger had lessened. I was smiling more, laughing more. Wanting to be around other people more.
The journal gently guides you through your emotions and helps you work out what is inside you. It is up to YOU as to whether you let it all go. They are merely giving you the tools to start your own recovery. It is up to you whether you get on board.
It took me until page 20 or so before I really noticed a difference. I would sometimes only be able to do 1 page per day. Some days I could manage 2 or 3 pages. It really doesn't matter how many pages you do a day. What matters is that you do the work to the best of your ability. If you are not feeling it today, then don't do it. Or only do a little bit. That's okay. I think it is also important to go back and read what you've written occasionally. You might be surprised by your previous answers. I know I was. But don't change your answers. Remember, this is a journey. I hope you find as much healing as I have. It truly has been a gift from above.

I could tell that some thought was put into it until it was perfect. This journal is broken into three parts. Questions you ask and answer yourself. Charting and the letter you write to yourself. I’m not much of a writer but I love writing in this journal. I never thought a journal can radiate happiness and love. This journal makes me want to drink water and go vegan. I won’t go vegan but I might take a sip of water now and then. But I definitely will recommend this book the everyone I know. If you’re reading this review just buy it already you won’t regret it.

I received it on the first day of the new year and it’s been a wonderful addition to my life. I really enjoy how calming the color of this journal is and how much it captures me every time I open it. Today I Affirm has encouraged me to pick up my pen and start writing again. Each prompt has been helpful in expressing my feelings, while reflecting on each word I write. I adore Alex Elle and her bodies of incredible work that she continues to share. I’ve bought many of her boxes as gifts and everyone truly enjoys it! I highly recommend Today I Affirm!

I appreciated “A Note To Self” because it helped me set proactive intentions for myself and I was weary of buying this journal due to not knowing what could be different. However, I’m so glad I purchased! I AM IN LOVE. The questions are short but they really force you to take time and think. first things first: i really like the size and the first half of this work book - great questions which make you think about yourself and your life choices.
BUT i'm disappointed by:
- the layout and the quality of the book (paper feels like in a cheap children's book; the quotes are hard to read due to the chosen font; the overall layout is to plain and loveless for my taste).
- the second half of this book. it only contains templates for charts and letters to oneself (see last 2 pics of the product description) that could've easily been summarized within less than 10 pages - as i don't feel the need to be able to fill them in in the book but would use an additional sheet of paper and would've liked more questions like in part one of the book.
all in all this book unfortunately feels like a rush job to me, trying to make as much $$$ out of alex's current insta fame and it can't keep up with the usual quality and depth of her work and words - by far.

This is a powerful, very insightful book that offers journaling prompts. It goes beyond simple statements and let’s the reader/ writer explore self esteem. I strongly recommend this for those wanting and willing to deeply investigate self awareness

I love everything about this book. I like spending time on self reflective practices and this book is fab for that. I would definitely buy this as a present for friends and family.
