A gardener, I'm not. If I go to the nursery the plants shudder when I walk the aisles hoping I do not choose them for an early demise. However, I swoon at all things floral. So when I attended my garden club ( gracious to have me)where Renee
was speaking, I was mesmerized. Not only are her photographs exquisite, but she gives detailed information how to replicate the boxes. Miracle of all miracles, I was able to keep one alive for an entire season. My neighbor even commented how it looked like an English garden, actually. Highly recommend this one!

Nantucket Window Boxes Hardcover – January 1, 2014
by
Renee Pembroke
(Author)
A wonderful companion to the author's previous release, Nantucket Hydrangeas, this beautiful linen-covered book will inspire you to add window boxes to your home. The photography is spectacular, showcasing the beautiful homes and window boxes. In Nantucket's historic district there are over 800 homes, most built during Nantucket's reign as the whaling capital of the world from 1750-1850. The simplicity of the structures makes the perfect backdrop for window boxes. The different styles weave together with the landscape to produce a splendid show of colors and textures. The well-placed flowers bring pleasure all over the island. Window boxes are simply beautiful gardens in miniature. The detailed index provides identification of all plantings which makes this an excellent resource book for all gardeners.

This book is worthy of display. It has a textural linen cover. The photos are inspiring but the real treasure is in the back pages where the plants from each arrangement are listed. I gave this as a gift to a dear sister-in-law on her retirement.

A wonderful companion to the author's previous release, Nantucket Hydrangeas, this book has gorgeous photos that inspired me to try to figure out how to add window boxes to my own home. Additionally, the author has supplied a guide identifying all the plant materials in the photos of her book. IMO, that brings extra value to this book as I am a novice gardener.
