    5 hours of the National!

by Lynn on 9/22/23The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

Will always travel for any special NTL event! it was a wonderful two days of seeing new and old bands, getting hit-off-the-press vinyl and being with a friendly crowd.

    Fantastic! The perfect festival

by Dara on 9/22/23The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

We travelled from Ireland for this festival as part of my 40th birthday celebrations. It was worth every cent. Fantastic music, venue, organisation. I hope it's on again and I can somehow justify making a return trip.

    Phenomenal Festival

by Willie From Waynoka on 9/21/23The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

The lineup was fantastic, and I really enjoyed the venue. My only complaint relates to the placement of the food vendors (who had delicious food). They should have been placed in the back of the venue. If I had to smell the noodle wok one more time I was going to lose it...and the line for service was in the middle of the crowd. Otherwise, very fond of the experience.

The National and friends & Cincy skyline- so good!

by Chris M on 9/21/23The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

Great show, though the VIP is a bit large which is the trend these days. My 1 complaint is with the beer selection. Cincinnati is in the midst of a beer renaissance with copious breweries producing delicious swills. However, there was no representation at Homecoming. The only IPAs offered were Budweiser’s Goose Island and a hazy from Sam Adams. 👎

    Homecoming Festival

by Tick on 9/20/23The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

Amazing show at an ideal venue! The skyline at night is a breathtaking backdrop to this once in a lifetime lineup.

    Would do it again!

by David on 9/20/23The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

Traveled from Knoxville for both days if the festival. I was really drawn to get to see Pavement. Of course Patti Smith, Weyes Blood, and The National lived up to expectations. I would do it again.

    That worked!

by Aaron on 9/20/23The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

Thought it was a great festival! Probably could have used a few more food vendors but having the stage there and setup I know makes things easier. Obviously, multiple stages with more artists is ideal but that's a whole other headache. Would have preferred less "legendary, older bands"and more like Boygenius, Lucy Dacus, Perfume Genius, etc bands that are cutting edge now.

    SO. DAMN. GOOD!!!

by Shawn from New Orleans on 9/20/23The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

LOVED the lineup. LOVED getting 2.5 hours of The National two days in a row. LOVED the size of the festival - big enough to make it high-energy but small enough to also feel nice and chill. LOVED the time of year. LOVED my Nalgene!!! A couple of suggestions for next time: the option to grab a printed schedule handed out at the fest would be great in case phone dies; a place to charge said phone; a little more variety in food offerings; and maybe some additional way(s) to differentiate between VIP and general? They seemed almost comparable such that I'd prob do general next time. Otherwise, really just sublime - possibly my favorite music fest ever, and I go to alot of them! Thank you for everything. Hope you do it next year. Bliss!

    Good shows, overprice, bad venue

by Mike on 9/20/23The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

I'm comparing this National Homecoming show to the 2018 version. This year's was more than twice the price for half the bands. In 2018 there were two stages so it was very little downtime between shows, this year it was 45 minutes of show followed by 30 minutes of standing around with nothing to do. The venue was small, no seating options, policies prohibit blankets, bags, cameras, water bottles, etc. So all there is left to do is stand around and bake in the sun. The National was incredible both nights and some of the smaller acts (Carriers, Snail Mail, Arooj Aftab, Bartees Strange) were really great, but in terms of "big names"it was very hard to get excited about anyone in the lineup other than The National. In 2018 we got names like Feist, Future Islands, and Father John Misty. In 2023 (for a lot more money) we got Pavement, The Walkmen, and Patti Smith (I don't know anyone who cares about any of those acts.) I'd like to see a better lineup or a lower price. A better venue or a lower price. The combo of high price, mid-lineup, and poor venue wasn't a good combo.

    Not enough shade

by Baldy on 9/20/23The ICON Festival Stage at Smale Park - Cincinnati

I was at homecoming in 2018 and there were two stages and a lot more shade I feel like? It was a great event and I love the music. It was also very on time but it’s hard to sit in the sun all day. There was very little shade and I feel like there could’ve been more food options. I am a non-drinker and one day the Billy strings Hopwater was four dollars and the second day it was five dollars? I felt like that was a bit much. All in all it was a pretty good event and I thank you for putting it on
