About

Ari Lennox on Tour

Neo-soul singer Ari Lennox's sound and persona on the stage are simultaneously elegant and organic, both dreamy and down-to-earth. Some know her best by her 2019 hit "Shea Butter Baby," on which she paired up with her producer, R&B/hip-hop hero J. Cole, but whatever tune she lends her lungs to, Lennox breathes deep, soulful life into every single line. Her unique sound refuses to stand still long enough to be bolted into any one category; in her shows, old-school and contemporary R&B, jazz, pop and hip-hop all blend together into an amalgam unique to Lennox herself. When she communicates with the crowd in between songs, she isn't shy about speaking her mind and letting them know where her songs really come from — in the end, Lennox is all about keeping things real in every aspect of her performance.

Ari Lennox in Concert

In 2012, Washington, D.C.'s Ari Lennox began to make herself heard with a vibrant, idiosyncratic brand of R&B that combined roots-conscious, naturalistic neo-soul with a supple jazziness, undeniable pop instincts and an utterly of-the-moment quality that helped her music speak to the present moment. Like many fledgling artists of the 2010s, she started out releasing her music online herself, but by 2015 Lennox had a deal with Dreamville Records (the label owned by R&B and hip-hop star J. Cole). The first fruits of this partnership arrived in 2016 with the release of the Pho EP, with Cole acting as executive producer. After a long period of intense work, Lennox finally released her first full album, Shea Butter Baby, in 2019. The record made it to the Top 10 in the R&B charts, and later that same year, Lennox was mounting her first tour as a headliner.

    Excellent show

    by Malik on 2/27/24

I’m such a big fan of Ari Lennox. I been a fan of her music since her first mixtape in 2016 and her first debut album shea butter baby album in 2019. I’m glad me and my sister saw her Live at the house of Blues in Anaheim and she put on an amazing show. The special guest artists that open up for Ari especially R&B singer Alex Vaughn did amazing too. I would definitely would love to see her again in LA.

    Ari Lennox in Phoenix

    by ERY on 2/8/24

I was super excited to hear that Ari Lennox was going to be in Phoneix with Rod Wave. I loved every second that she was on stage, the live band did their thang and so did she. I could easily tell that a lot of people didn’t know her or her music but her real fans stood up the whole time and baby we were with you 🥰💯 It was a pleasure seeing you live for the first time, please come to Denver 🥳👏🏾

    Great artist, terrible stage presence

    by Tiki on 12/12/23

I’ve been forced to see Ari open for Rod Wave twice. She has a great voice and is a beautiful person, but has a terrible stage presence. She stood on the stage swaying back and forth in one spot for most of her set. Didn’t do anything to get the crowd excited and I could barely understand a word she was saying. I would’ve enjoyed her performance more if she danced, maybe had backup dancers, or just SOMETHING to make it a little more interesting than her swaying back and forth. Like I said, she has a great voice but probably shouldn’t have been the opener right before Rod Wave because people were not hype and I heard that some even fell asleep.

    Phoenix 23

    by Britt on 12/8/23

Ari showed up and showed out like a true professional. She delivered an amazing performance for her true fans. Most of the fans in attendance were young and were there for rod wave. Thank you Ari for staying true to you! 10/10 would definitely recommend. The mic is always on at an Ari Lennox show….

    WEAKEST Cookout of All Time

by Gimme a Refund Booooi on 6/1/23Gateway DC - Washington

Low attendance, mid performances, comedians had no jokes, Ari was NOT hosting, she arrived around 7pm, there was no cookout food, no smoke, no flame, no grill, no corn, no cob, no ham, no burger, no hot, no dog nothing, bogus food trucks selling ice cream and egg rolls. SMH there was more staff, vendors and performers at the event than actual attendees. And the backdrop to this dismal event was a dilapidated mental institution named St. Elizabeth's. Only thing entertaining was the Virgo Gang.

    Highway robbery

by Ange E on 5/31/23Gateway DC - Washington

Very disappointed in the event since some artists who were on the bill to perform did not and those who did literally only performed for 15 minutes. The event was not worth the money at all.

    Pretty good

    by G. Z. on 4/18/23

The "opener" was a DJ who did not vibe with the theater. No one was really into what he was doing. Ari Lennox is a great singer, she looked and sounded beautiful. She sang a lot of great songs, however I wish the setlist was a little longer. She only performed for an hour, I had been there at 6pm and she went on stage at 9:30pm. Overall she is a great live vocalist, just wished there was more of an experience.
