    a review

by WL on 6/12/23Lincoln Theatre - Washington

Tinariwen put on a great show. Loved their energy, performance, and the dancing. I give the band 5 stars but the venue had sound mix issues. It was hard to hear the singing. It was very hard to hear the singing by the opening band. It was better for Tinariwen but it was still a problem. I saw them several years ago at the Warner Theater and the sound was much better there. Anyway, I would see them again!

    The Drone Didn’t Fly

by DiverDan on 6/11/23Lincoln Theatre - Washington

As my wife noted the crowd (sold out) was somewhat over enthusiastic. Most of the set was very low key. Since the lyrics are incomprehensible the music is everything. And when they wanted to they showed they can be more dynamic but that was the exception. Traditional music played through electric guitars. Don’t regret going but probably wouldn’t again.

    Elemental

These rhythms speak to that part of your soul that connects with everything. Second time I’ve seen them and even better than before. If you’re not sure, go. You will be glad you did.

    Tinariwen and Opening Act

by Waverider on 6/10/23Lincoln Theatre - Washington

The sound was horrific. The opening act was a wall of loud mud. We were sitting in the upper section in the front and it took me half the time of the opening act before I realized one of the guys was singing. You couldn't hear any of the guitar solos. Could not hear any of the words of the singers. No way to know if they were any good. Tinariwen sounded much better, but there were still problems with the sound. Not that much was cutting through. It could be the box shape of the theater, but the sound guys need to adjust as needed. Just increasing the volume doesn't work.

Almost passed it up, would have been a mistake

    by A. H. on 6/10/23Lincoln Theatre - Washington

If you have a chance to see Tinariwen jump on it. I can’t explain in words but it is almost a spiritual experience and I’m definitely not that type of person. First time I have ever seen the entirety of the Lincoln Theater on their feet, dancing and in the aisles.

    Bad Opener; Great Headliner

by MT on 6/10/23Lincoln Theatre - Washington

I want to be respectful but the opening band was really bad. Reminded me of a high school band tryout. And they were from out of state - giving a local band a chance would have been the better move. After 45 minutes of discomfort, and a lengthy intermission, Tinariwen finally came out and put on an excellent show. A rough start to the night ended with everyone dancing.
