I really like this carbon steel wok from Craft Wok. I've had woks before but they seemed flimsy compared to this one, probably why they did not last. This wok is pretty weighty, around 4 1/2 lbs and it feels very sturdy. It's also 14" in diameter so will hold a pretty good amount of whatever it is you are wanting to cook. First thing I did before I removed it from it's plastic covering was to read the instructions. This pan has the protective oil on it and that needs to be removed and the pan needs to be seasoned, just like some other metal cookware. I know also that seasoning maintenance on pans should be a routine process to prevent them from rusting so also will keep up with that. I did order a wok ring to help keep it steadier and sit more properly on the range and this is made to be used with a gas range. And if you plan on using this for deep frying, Definitely get a ring to give the pan more support. I've done a bit of stir frying with this but I also want to experiment with steaming with it and I also might just use it on my grill. Love it, works as expected, the carbon steel heats very evenly, another plus. Seems well made, I'm sure it will give us many years of service. Give it a looksee for yourself, maybe even gift one to an aspiring cook in the family. I will.....

High Quality Wok!

This is a wonderful addition to any kitchen!
Wok cooking is healthy.
This is large enough to feed an entire family.
It is heavy weight which is great for overall heating, however, it can be tedious for some people to manipulate, especially seniors.
It's a little too heavy for me, but my granddaughter handles it seamlessly.
Overall, I would recommend this item to all who enjoy wok cooking.

It has been many years since we last used a wok for creating delicious Asian food fare. When a few weeks ago the urge to prepare some beef with broccoli came up, a wok was nowhere to be found.

Fortunately, an opportunity to acquire a new wok came up shortly thereafter, and I pounced on it. 
Our new Traditional Hand Hammered Carbon Steel Wok from Craft Wok is almost too beautiful to use. It is fourteen inches wide ad has a nice round bottom. Be sure to get a ring to set it on for easy use of a stove top.

Per instructions I scrubbed off the protective oils used to keep it from rusting. Be sure to use paper towels or a soft cloth you don’t mind getting gray steel colored. The seasoning instructions sound like it will take a longtime to complete. But it really was only about 10-15 minutes start to finish. The wok gets verrrrry hot during this process so be sure to have pot holders or gloves at hand to make the process easier and safe. The wooden handle stays cool enough to use but the helper handle is steel and really heats up.

Once the steel starts heating up it turns many shades of yellow, rose and blue. By the time it is done it is almost all blue. By far the majority of the one and a half tablespoons of oil rubbed into the interior surface is absorbed. And now it is ready to use!

We whipped up a batch of teriyaki stir fry in no time, at a very high temperature, and had no issues with veggies or proteins sticking to the sides. Clean up was fast and easy. Be sure to dry it immediately as it will rust.

Livin' me some Wok meals

I am so excited to finally have a wok. The Craft Wok Traditional Hand Hammered Steel Pow Wok is awesome. I love to make stir fries and fried rice often and I have always wanted to wok to cook these delicious dishes but but I always only had a frying pan. I am so excited to have a new tool to make these delicious meals. The wok has a rounded bottom, has a 14 inch diameter and is very sturdy. It is made of high quality but it is important to know that it can only to be used on gas stoves and is not dishwasher safe. I read the directions carefully, which I recommend everyone getting this item should do, and even watched a video on how to cure and season the wok and take care of it before before first cooking to make sure it doesn't rust. It has an easy to use wooden and steel handle that allows me to have good movement when I am cooking food and has a really good grip. My fried rice could not be easier to make in the wok. I can now quickly make my favorite family meals in the wok and they are much more tasty now. Just as people may have a special casserole or bread making pan the wok is a specialty item to add to the flavors of Asian style cooking. I am beyond happy with this product and highly recommend it.

Best cooking tool for fried rice and stir fry

I am doing a review today on the Craft Wok. It is made of carbon steel. It has been hand-hammered into its shape. You can tell by looking closely at the marks the hammer made on it. You can see part circles all over it from the round end of the hammer. This wok is huge. It is 14 inches and with a round bottom. It has a handle on it just in case you want to use two hands. It is very heavy so you might want to use two hands. The handle can also be used to hang it up. The wooden handle is long enough that the heat from whatever source you are using does not get your hand hot. I have an electric stove and it was not a problem for me. I took a picture of the wok before and halfway while I was seasoning it. On the back of the label that covers the wok are the instructions on how to season it. I wanted to show you what it looked like new and part of the seasoning process. You have to make sure it turns blue and yellow all over the inside of the wok to make sure you have all of the protective coatings off of the wok from the manufacturer and to help it from rusting in the future. You can feed a crowd or just yourself with this wok. It is very easy to use because it comes with a round bottom instead of a flat one. I would set aside about thirty minutes to do the whole seasoning thing. It is very easy it just takes a while for it to heat up. I use olive oil to cook my veggies in this because it is so healthy for you. I love this wok and highly recommend it.

Huge and Great Wok

This wok is amazing! Food tastes delicious, it was easy to do the seasoning process, has an extra handle for carrying it to the table, and isn't thin like other ones available! I keep forgetting to take more pictures when we're using it (Grandma brain lol). It gets used probably 3 to 4 times a month as my daughter brings her littles over at least 2 to 3 times a month & we make supper together. She's made fried cabbage, chicken & beef stir fry, broccoli & chicken stir fry and we've made just plain fried rice in it! The other night, I made steak tips in it and have also cut chicken into bite sized pieces and fried that in this wok also! The possibilities are endless!

Great wok!

I was really impressed with the quality of this wok. The weight of this item alone let you know that this was a high caliber item. quite impressive. The packaging included detailed instructions on how to prepare and cure the wok, as well as care for it for long term use. I had never known this had to be done and was educated thoroughly . I did wait a bit after receiving this item before I actually did what I was suppose to do. Unfortunately , I had this wok where it got damp and noticed it begin to rust. This caused me to hurriedly do what I should have done when I got it. Easy enough and ready for use. Heat was quick and efficient. Cooked nicely and even easier to clean.

Nice craftsmanship

So, I really love cooking with a wok. I've never used a carbon steel wok before. I love how sturdy this one is. My only concern is the time it takes to prime it before and after use. For me, it will just take too much of my time preparing the wok for use and then again for storage. Also, you cannot put this in the dishwasher. That's major for me. For the sake of time, I need all of my utensils, pots & pans, dishes, etc. to be dishwasher safe. I believe the 14 inch round bottom Craft Wok Traditional Hand Hammered Carbon Steel Pow Wok with Wooden and Steel Helper Handle is more for advanced or avid wok cooks and users.
