Product Description

A sustainable reimagining of our best-selling ultralight down hoody. Because a hoody is supposed to keep you warm (surprise—this one does!) but what about one that won't heat up the atmosphere? We think this flying space rock is pretty awesome, and because we want to keep Earth awesome, we made the Ghost Whisperer/2™, which uses trash instead of making more. With completely recycled face fabric and responsibly sourced, RDS-certified down insulation, this layer brings the heat where it's supposed to.

I was extremely skeptical about buying this coat because how could a coat that weighs less than 8 oz keep me warm. (I am severely anemic and weigh less than 100 lbs😩) With all that being said I would rather freeze to death than suffocate myself in a big thick coat. But this coat has been AMAZING! I stay warm and don’t get too hot when OH weather is as bipolar as my grandma.😂 So if you are unsure about buying it, do it! You won’t regret it!

    I got an XL and it fits perfectly with room for a midlayer underneath (like a silk t shirt and a mid weight wool knit pullover - possibly a light fleece that is fitted).     I already own a Mountain Hardwear Ghost Whisper jacket without a hood. I adore it. Only problem is you really don't want to get down wet so I would bring a rain jacket to wear over it if it started raining. But I don't like to carry things or tie them around my waist. Then I thought maybe I should get a version of the jacket without down and instead uses synthetic insulation, so I did. (ghost shadow version). I can't tell you how happy I am to have both versions, the one with down and this one without down that I can wear when it's raining. It's extremely lightweight, comfortable, water resistant, cuts the chill from the wind. I have the hooded version and I think that part is just okay... that part could be smaller or have an adjustment to tighten it, but it works and stays up over my head. That jacket in NOT noisy at all. It has two nice sized pockets on the outside and 2 huge pockets on the inside. It was some elastic in the sleeve cuffs but not tight which is the way I like it. It keeps me warm in 30 degree weather. I absolutely love this jacket and so glad I decided to get both the ghost whisper and the ghost shadow jacket, This review is about the ghost shadow jacket.

    I was so excited about this coat for hiking bc it’s so lightweight and warm. And I LOVE the Jack Pine color so much. Sadly that’s all it’s got going for it. It’s super duper flimsy and barely held up on one mild hike. The fabric is super thin and tears easily and I was just walking on a normal path—no bushwhacking or anything. I knew it wasn’t waterproof when I got it but figured that point wasn’t too much of a dealbreaker if the other criteria were met. Hard nope. Plus the fact that the sizes run super small.
