Worked perfectly for camping
Wanted slightly better quality cookware for camping and this set didn't disappoint. My buddy and I made hotdogs, hamburgers, and macaroni and cheese without issue. Thanks!

We used these pots last weekend, on a camp grill in our back yard, just to see how they worked before we took them camping. I'm happy to say that they worked really well - they heated evenly, the handles stayed cool, they cleaned up nicely and the lids fit well when simmering soup. They are nice large sizes so I was able to fix a meal for our family of six using all three. I imagine the finish won't hold up well with campfire use, but I didn't see any damage from propane cooking.

I like that they're more substantial than the cheapie aluminum pots we've used for backpacking trips for years, and that they're lighter than the cast iron we use when car camping. I love that they nest so nicely together, and still have room in the smallest pot for a can of Sterno or matches or some other small items. I also like the included mesh storage bag, which can be hung on a tree limb to air dry the pots after washing.

I'm very pleased with this set - a good value for the money.

This is a brilliant cookset. I've just used it on three one week long mt bike tours.

Back in 2001 i was making notes whilst hitching and trekking around NZ about the one perfect set of light backcountry gear and the right cookset has been considered for the last decade or so. I've always carried a light non stick budget kitchen variety frypan with a plastic handle and a standard nz style aluminium billy (hanging pot). So i want a cookset with a pan and a pot about 1.5L which nest and importantly are non stick.

Non stick cooksets are very limited to buy here in Australasia. Mostly just Triangia stuff which is ridiculously overpriced. Standard hard alloy cooksets cost more than this set. But this set is great regardless of price.

The frypan is high sided but i can still fry four eggs (as one like an omelete) and still get a spatula down to flip them which is super easy because the non stick functions as good as it gets, so easy to just wipe clean. The two pots of 1 and 1.5L give some cooking options but i just use the 1.5L which nests snugly into the frypan using a dishcloth to pack between to prevent rattle and protect the non stick. The pot lid has a conveniently low profile plastic (cool touch) handle but could be tricky for ham-fisted oafs and unfortunately it's not made to also fit the frypan but it still does roughly.

the set is as light as an alloy cookset is which is very light. too light and heat distribution for cooking anything more than water is bad and this set is okay, like i've said it frys eggs well. anyone who complains it is too heavy needs to rethink their cooking requirements for their lightweight standard of trip.

handles are a must for me, no handle sets with a separate grabber i find inconvenient and often dangerous. and a cool touch handle is essential too. other reviewers who complain about the handles falling against the pot should be quiet for shame that they can't deal with it. like other reviewers say just use a rubber band, the plastic handle coating stays cool, or do like me and use a twist-tie which will last forever and stays on the handle. i've often cooked on a fire with plastic handle pans so don't have a problem with this either. honestly some people need to learn some basic skills and forget their opinions.

the non stick surface feels very hard so while using plastic or wooden utensils as one does anyway when lightweight in the backcoutry and only carrying with hard items inside packed with protection it should last a long time as other reviews confirm.

An A1 product at a super cheap price.

This is a lightweight cooking kit that can be easily stored in a small package. The mesh bag that comes with the kit helps to keep things together nicely. The handles fold around the pans and are always connected to them for storage and easy access. The good thing about the handles is that they have a nice rubber grip to help keep the heat away while picking them up. They have a non stick coating and time will tell if that coating actually holds up. This kit is good for two people and it would do well if you are trying to pack a small light load. They work well and are easily cleaned. Because of the lightweight materials, they might show some bumps and dings but they have held up well. These are designer pots and pans here! I recommend this package if you are trying to pack small and light.

This is a set for the backpack gourmet who values comfort, but who has to make some sacrifices for weight. I wanted a reasonably light cookset for two that was small enough to be packable by an overnight kayaker -- which isn't the same as a backpacker since my boat can carry twice as much weight and gear as I can -- that is of decent quality, is durable and cleans up easily. I was tired of scrubbing egg residue out of my very old and tried-and-true stainless/copper bottom set.

It's hard complain. This is ideal for two to three campers, distributes heat very well thanks to the dark, anodized finish, and my stove (a Brunton Talon), a firestarter or lighter, camp soap and a nylon cleaning rag all fit inside the kit which fits inside my backpack or dry bag.

There are a few tradeoffs: I have used cookware with these style handles for years. What I have learned carries to this set as well: The handles are prone to being loose and swinging without being moved into position and they are not lockable. Still, I prefer this style to those with a single detachable (and potentially "losable") handle for all pans in the set since I sometimes cook with more than one pan. The skillet is a little smaller than I'd like and it has high sides. In fact, it's definitely more of a half-pan than a skillet. I won't be frying up a trout in it without some serious knife work.

Again, these are more tradeoffs than criticisms.

Light, yes, but not titanium light or backpacker-on-the-Appalachian-Trail light. Cheap, yes, but not aluminum cheap or titanium expensive. Teflon cleans VERY VERY easily, but, being Teflon, it will certainly eventually scratch or wear out. Durable, yes, but only time will tell and that Teflon won't last forever.

My final note is that it compares nicely to my camping friend's MSR Blacklite system. I am pleased with the price and with the set. For those who cook for large groups, or hikers who want a cookset to weigh less than an empty tuna can, look elsewhere. But if you want to do more than boil water for a freeze dried meal (like cook up some fish, potatoes and eggs) without a lot of extra weight, this is a very good choice.

EDIT: It has been four years since I wrote this review and I am still cooking with this cook set. I enjoy it very much and it is definitely my "go-to" set for group, family or car camping. I have migrated away from carrying pieces of this when I am only packing for one, usually opting to go with an ultralight set (freeze dried meals, meaning I only need to boil water and rehydrate food). The Teflon is holding on strong. I have used care with this set and if I could rate it higher than I did originally, I would, thanks to its longevity. This item has given its value back to me many times over. It's worth far more than it costs.
