Customers are dissatisfied with the drip of the coffee maker. They mention that it continues to drip once they move the coffee, the carafe can drip from the pouring sprout, and the water ends up getting everywhere. The OXO pot dribbles a lot when pouring water into the reservoir, and liquid will flow over the carfe lid and possibly on to your counter. When the lid is removed, a stream of water trickles down.

Nice design but tepid coffee

Nice design but tepid coffee
Upon the death of our latest Mr Coffee, I decided to splurge and get a much better coffee maker. We've had our 8-cup Oxo for three or four days now. I like the design. It has a sleek, simple design that makes efficient use of counter space and a wide-mouthed reservoir that's easy to fill without dripping water on the counter. We like the transparent water reservoir and it's a bit of added fun watching the water bubble up the pipe to the coffee basket. The brewing time is quick. It has no clock and can't be set in advance to have a pot brewed by the time we get up, but we have plenty of clocks around the kitchen already and we never used preset brewing even when we did have that feature. We opted for simplicity—less to go wrong. It also has no hotplate under the carafe, but relies instead on a vacuum-insulated metal carafe. That appealed to us as well—no more burned coffee or coffee syrup when we left a cup or two and forgot about it. No more broken glass carafes to replace. At first, my wife loved it and said buying this is the smartest thing I've ever done (second only to marrying her), so that alone was worth a couple hundred bucks. However, after trying it for a couple of weeks, we were increasingly disappointed in it. She had decided she hated it and would rather have gotten another Mr. Coffee.Nevertheless, I've given it only a 3-star rating. I can't say the coffee tastes any better than what Mr Coffee and other "economy brands" dispensed. Not that it's bad, but it doesn't live up in flavor to some of the advertising hype and customer reviews I read before buying. But my major reservation in the rating is that the coffee isn't very hot. Fresh out of the brew cycle, it's within "okay" range, but if I pour another cup an hour or two later, it's tepid already and I always have to microwave it to bring my cuppa joe up to my preference (even up to a freshly poured cup of restaurant coffee). I like to see a bit of steam rise from the cup when I pour a cup; we didn't get that with the Oxo. It seems to brew at "fear of lawsuit temperature." I can live with that (the microwave is nearby), but it's a disappointment to me.We tried to accept it, but the deadline for returning it was approaching, so we packaged it up and returned it. We've gone back to Mr. Coffee, which makes the coffee hotter, keeps it hot longer, produces a flavor at least as good as the Oxo or better, and costs far less.
