Sturdy - no wobbling. Does not slide or tip AT ALL. A very good weight to it.
Durability - tough. This thing will take a beating. Few moving parts, and the parts that do move are simple and sturdy. Will wait and see how long it lasts...
Versatility - Holy... Moly... The things you can do with this bad boy! Your imagination is the limit. Will take pics and share, if I get bored enough.
Storage - There's a little storage pocket inside. I did not foresee using this feature, but it actually comes in handy for yoga straps, clips, ear buds, a couple small weights (which even adds more to the already good stability). Also, you can store this thing anywhere. Without the feet, it's low profile. Or you could leave it out as a piece of furniture. That's what I'm doing.
Aesthetics - It just looks cool.
Cons:
Length/Height - This may not work for taller people. I am 5'8", and broad. It worked perfectly for all positions. Maybe someone 5'10 and up, it wouldn't be ideal. Can't say for sure. May hafta get a buddy to come test drive it. Will letchu guys know how that goes.
Price - I am alright with what I paid for it, not ecstatic but... I was ready to return it if it got here, and I deemed it lackluster in *any* way whatsoever. If it had been less sturdy, or not fit me, I'd have immediately returned it. As it is, it kind of blew away my expectations. So, I get it. It's expensive. It may not be worth it for everyone.
Comfort - I read all the reviews regarding the "bumps" on the surface of this piece of equipment. Let's be real. It's a Transformer. It's a stepper that is also a bunch of other things. If the bumps bug you enough, put a mat down or suck it up. It's not bad at all, but I can see some with somatic sensitivities not liking this feature. To that I'd say, use your yoga mat or something. It's a good piece of gear. Worth it.
Conclusion
Boss piece of gear. Reebok did an excellent job. Now go out and get your grind on! Oorah.
Forget The Gym
I am very happy with the Reebok Deck. I have been using it for two months now. When I first discovered this product on Amazon, I was a little turned off by the price tag ($199). Full disclosure: I am over 40 years old, overweight and have not purchased exercise equipment in years. The last time I purchased my own weight bench, I was 18 years old. And I’m pretty sure I bought a cheap one. Two decades later, I was hemming and hawing over the cost of the Reebok Deck. But then I realized that it was silly to stress out over $200. After all, how much does a full year of gym membership cost? And how much does it cost to hire a trainer? And then I thought about the time and effort that goes into driving to the gym in the first place. Let’s face it. I am overweight and I spend insane amounts of money on hospital bills because I am unhealthy and out of shape. After considering all that, I decided that $200 was not absurd. Of course, I could have saved a little money by simply purchasing an adjustable weight bench and an aerobic stepper. But something about the Reebok Deck really appealed to me. So I pulled the trigger on this purchase and two months later, I am a happy customer.
More Than Meets The Eye
I workout three to four times a week. I don’t think I’ve lost any weight but I definitely feel better. As a lifelong out of shape person, it feels good to work out and the Reebok Deck makes it easy for me. And there are many ways to use it, so it keeps my interest level up. On Mondays, Wednesday and Friday, I use it as an incline/decline bench. I finally have a fun way to use the random five and 10-pound dumbbells that are collecting dust in the garage. After a crash course on YouTube, I learned how to do the following dumbbell workouts on the Reebok Deck: chest press, shoulder press and tricep extensions. After my dumbbell workout, I do an hour on the treadmill and I am feeling the burn. I never had that feeling when I was wasting my money at 24-Fitness. (I do admit that I never spent much time doing dumbbell and barbell workouts because I was simply intimidated by the trainers and the beautiful, muscular people flexing in front of the mirrors and taking selfies. But now I’m working out again and it feels like I’m actually getting somewhere. Another thing I like about the Reebok Deck is that it works great with my resistance bands. I’ve been using resistance bands off and on for five years. I fully believe in using resistance bands, but I just don’t get excited about anchoring them to my front door. I do not have a big apartment and there’s just not a lot of room to move there. But thanks to the Reebok Deck, I can position myself in front of the television and follow along with my old Denise Austin step videos. Speaking of whom, I have never considered doing step aerobics in my life. But now I’m doing basic workouts using my mom’s old workout tapes. I never imagined that I would be 40 years old, dusting off the old VCR and burning calories with Denise Austin and Tamilee Webb.
Drawbacks
Having said that, I do have some thoughts about how Reebok can improve on this product. For one thing, those big, round bumps on the rubberized deck surface are hard on the back. It does not feel good. However, you can easily place a beach towel on the deck and that solves your problem. Also, when I lay back on the bench, my tailbone almost hangs off the end. (I am 5 feet 6 inches tall.) When I'm lying flat, it would be good to have ample support for both my head and tailbone. If I was 6 feet tall, this could be an issue.
The Bottom Line
This product is not perfect, but it is cool and it gets the job done. Actually, it gets multiple jobs done. I cannot think of another product that you can use for dumbbell and resistance band workouts then quickly transform it into a stepper. People always ask me about the deck when they come over and it leads to helpful conversations about fitness. When people ask me how much I paid for this deck, they react just like I originally did. But after I demonstrate all the different things you can do with this product, they get excited and ask me to e-mail the details to them. It’s pretty unbelievable. I am a chubby person with no athletic ability, but somehow I am inspiring my friends to get fit. If anyone has any questions about this product, I would be happy to help.
Firstly, I'm short - so some resistance band workouts I've had to modify the height of the bench or I can't get enough tension on the bands. Being able to raise and lower the back rest to different heights definitely helped for this issue.
I've done a few step workouts with it lowered and really enjoy being able to do that type of cardio on some days but then raise it up to do more strength training. I have noticed that certain moves (I've been following deck workouts on YouTube) that you have to really have perfect position or it will slide. For example- I was doing a plank type move resting my feet on the bench. The move required me to bring my feet forward then hop them back on the bench. The bench kept wanting to tip toward me because I needed to place my feet more toward the center and not the edge. That's probably more of a user error than the bench, but something to consider. I also was doing a hip raise move where my back rested on the bench but I was having issues keeping myself up on the bench. Not sure if that was also a height issue (I'm 5' even.)
Another thing to consider is that there are not many workouts to follow along with using the deck. I like to watch videos on YouTube or fitness apps but have had a lot of trouble finding workouts for this deck.
Overall I like this deck and think it's a great item to have for a small home gym if you are restricted on space.
