After comparing lots of options, I settled on the Schwinn 470 elliptical. I was looking for longer stride, overall smaller footprint (if possible), sturdiness, digital/power options. This elliptical had a little more than I absolutely needed, but was very excited to get the bluetooth, fan, and incline options. For this price point there are not a lot of options better that I could tell. Amazon reviewers who purchased before me, helped me to take the leap on this (as this was on the high end of my budget). Delivery/Unboxing/Assembly: I got the inside doorstep delivery. It is decently heavy, but mostly awkward. Definitely two strong people are needed. It was a bit awkward to get inside our narrow 1960's house/down into the basement. Lots and lots of packaging, but even with the box having a puncture on the side, all of our pieces seemingly were unharmed. I attached photos from the assembly process. I design/fabricate museum exhibits, so this was not hard for me without reading the directions, but when you get to the digital readout part, be extra careful in following directions there... a little bit of a maneuver. I have faith that most people could put this together no problem, but I think it is wise for people to have an extra set of hands, and helps if they are more mechanical/handy. I also advise that you use the included oil on the bottom rails, and hold on to the bottle for future use. Use of machine: Overall, still like and recommend this elliptical, but I wished I would have known a few things prior to purchasing. The main thing was that the bluetooth is basically unusable, and the digital console isn't intuitive at all. You will eventually get it figured out, and the manual somewhat helps. The engineers/designers could definitely benefit from reworking this model a bit, especially in the electronic/user experience side of things. The heart rate monitor is a little slow/weird, but overall works good enough if you're not worried about exact/precise measurements. The programs are a little lacking... wish there were more variety in levels...seems like its missing some "easy" programs in the mix. I'm fine to do the medium/hard programs, but would just like there to be more choices. I only got the bluetooth to work with one app by bowflex called "travel the world", but it is basically useless, because I can not get the audio to work for music/audiobooks. The manual references apps that it doesn't work with. I also can not get audio even with usb plug. So basically unless you want to see a visual of you "running" in a national park, the bluetooth option is not actually an option. (Amazon customer service tried to help me, and they did great, but Schwinn dropped the ball on this one.) I do however use the fan regularly, and although it isn't very powerful, it is a nice feature. There are lots of places to put devices/items... cup holder, and some trays, which are very nice also. All the grips on the ample foot pads as well as handle bars are nice. I highly recommend only using this elliptical with shoes on though, because the grip pattern on the foot pedals hurt. Also make sure you have a tall enough ceiling height for this machine, as I made an error in not measuring ahead of time and my bun of my hair hits the ceiling tiles in the basement without any incline. You may need to add oil/tighten some bolts over time/frequent use. I'm about 5'6" 120lbs (size 00) and use the elliptical a minimum of 3 times a week or maximum of 2 times a day for about 30 minutes each session. After about 3 months I am now needing to add oil to the bottom rails and retighten some bolts. Overall, this machine is nice, but I may have been better off cutting my cost in about half for a different model. If you're not worried about the technical details, I think you will be very happy with this machine and can definitely get a solid work out. I know it isn't the same as my long distance runs, but when I work late and during winter, rainy days this is awesome to have! (I burn more calories and enjoy my runs more) Customer service: Amazon customer service was awesome... but I will say they were on hold waiting to talk to a Schwinn representative for 30 minutes before I told them to just give me the number and I would call. I have not called yet as I'm pretty sure the industrial designers/engineers just messed this one up. I'm super disappointed in not being able to have any audio in any form though... so be on the lookout for that. (Maybe I just got a faulty speaker set? Lots of things all over that talk about the bluetooth not working though.) Overall: Great elliptical, but ask yourself how much the console/electronic features matter to you. If you need them, then maybe pass on this one, or be prepared to do a lot of work to try to get a resolution. If you're okay taking a risk or just want something decently made, this will do just fine. I'd be curious though to see the difference between this and the cheaper 430 model.
