    Sometimes the Classics are the Coolest

    Sometimes the Classics are the Coolest
    The coolest camera I've owned. Hands down. I'm a nostalgic kind of guy and when I grew up I always wanted one of these cameras but I couldn't afford to buy one on my own and my parents never got me one. Now that I'm older and I have some money I got one the moment I thought of a good project to use a polaroid style camera for. Also this thing really turns heads.I got this camera because I was officiating my cousin's wedding and I wanted to give them a wedding present that would be really fun for them to have right after the wedding. I got this camera with 3 double packs of film so I could take photos from the moment I got there to the end of the ceremony. I'd take the photo and stick it in the journal I bought to write the officiation speech down in and used scrap book photo corners to hold it in. They loved it because it provided an instant wedding album that they could look at right away. It wasn't as great as the professional one, but regardless a very cool thing to have on hand.Now my crafting aside, this camera takes photos on a polaroid style film that is about the size of a credit card (that includes the whites). The image itself is a little smaller. The moment you take a photo though you get that vintage feel of the photo. It's also one of those exhilarating feelings when you take photos with this camera because it's 60 cents a shot pretty much and you don't know how the next photo is going to take. Will it turn out? Who knows until you shake it until it shows up. A lot of people at the wedding complimented the camera and some wanted a photo they could keep. The nice thing about the small card sized polaroid is that it's easy to pocket without having to bend or be bent in a pocket.I'm not going to give this camera any negatives stars for the quality of image because it is solely based on the user taking photos with it. This camera is very forgiving when it comes to taking photos (selfies, portraits, action, etc.). I got this particular model because it has settings that can adjust based on the photos you are taking (such as action for kids running around or dancing). The camera itself does correct itself a bit when it comes to distance pictures, but photos within 10 feet of the camera does produce some of the best photos. The camera does come with a flash, but also does have options to make photos lighter or darker based on the environment they you are taking photos in.TL:DR - Conclusions on this camera are thus: If you are person who is nostalgic for a time when photo taking meant taking a photo meant wasting a resource, but enjoyed the suspense and surprise of that kind of risk taking then this is a great camera for you. It's also a camera that is guaranteed to turn a lot of heads. My generation (kids of the late 80s and 90s) may remember them, older generations have nearly forgotten about them, and the younger generation most likely don't even know about them (quite a few of those I've met or known, haven't). It produced a lot of smiles and "Oh, that's so cool." Or the funnier responses I got that weekend of photo taking was "so the printer is built in?" at which point, being a little bit of a photo nerd I had to explain it to them.TL:DR of the TL:DR - Buy this camera if you want nostalgic, classic looking photos that a person can walk away with without having to friend them on facebook or e-mail them to share the image.

    Con questa macchina fotografica mi sono fatta un bellissimo regalo di compleanno! L'ho acquistata quando era in sconto al prezzo di 110 euro ed è il prezzo al di sopra del quale sconsiglio di acquistarla in quanto si tratta pur sempre di una macchina istantanea e per quanto bella e funzionale sia questo è il prezzo che vale.
    Ho scelto questa perchè fra le varie instant mini di diverse marche (Fuji, Lomo, Leica ecc.) questa la reputo la migliore per quanto riguarda il rapporto funzionalità/prezzo. Sappiate che i materiali di costruzione del corpo macchina sono interamente in plastica, quindi non aspettatevi la qualità dei materiali che invece potete trovare nelle reflex digitali più all'avanguardia. Questo però non significa che la macchina sia un giocattolino delicato perchè è molto robusta. Altra cosa importante è che la lente dell'obbiettivo non è in vetro ma in plastica, ma comunque sia la qualità delle foto non viene compromessa. Ha delle modalità davvero interessanti e divertenti, per non parlare delle possibilità di reglazione dell'esposizione!

    CAVALLETTO compatibile che uso con la mini 90: TREPPIEDE HAMA STAR 75 ( h. max di 125 cm.)

    MESSA A FUOCO E MODALITA' DELLA INSTAX MINI 90:
    - 1 Messa a fuoco MACRO/RITRATTO --> per la messa a fuoco di soggetti ad una distanza dall'obbiettivo compresa fra 30cm e 60 cm;
    - 2 Messa a fuoco NORMALE --> per la messa a fuoco di soggetti ad una distanza dall'obbiettivo compresa fra 60 cm e 3 m;
    - 3 Modalità PANORAMA/LANDSCAPE --> per la messa a fuoco di soggetti o paesaggi ad una distanza dall'obbiettivo che va da 3m a infinito;
    - 4 Modalità PARTY --> sfruttabile in ambienti interni poco illuminati e fa in modo che il flash non illumini solo i volti/soggetti (rendendo scuro tutto ciò che sta alle loro spalle) ma anche lo sfondo dietro ai soggetti, rendendo l'illuminazione del flash omogenea; se l'ambiente è scuro o quindi c'è troppa poca luce consiglio anche di regolare l'esposizione su light/light+; tale modalità è totalmente inutile in ambienti esterni se con buio pesto;
    - 5 Modalità BAMBINO/SPORT --> si utilizza quando il soggetto da fotografare è in movimento e serve a ridurre l'effetto mosso e il mio consiglio è di utilizzarla sempre quando si deve fotografare un animale o un bambino che di solito non sta mai fermo, oppure per fare scatti "artistici" con soggetti sulle altalene, sullo skate o che effettuano dei salti/slanci;
    - 6 Modalità DOPPIA ESPOSIZIONE --> si utilizza per imprimere due pose sulla stessa pellicola in modo da sovraesporre una foto all'altra; questa è la mia modalità preferita ma all'inizio può risultare difficile e addirittura si possono ottenere degli scatti per nulla riusciti, per questo prima di utilizzarla è molto importante sapere che la seconda foto che si andrà a scattare verrà impressa sulle parti più scure della prima foto scattata, quindi il consiglio che io do è quello di regolare l'esposizione della prima foto su "dark"; l'esempio più facile è quello di imprimere il ritratto del soggetto fra le foglie di un albero o su dei fiori e in questo caso la prima foto sarà scattata all'albero e la seconda foto, ovvero il ritratto, sarà impressa nelle parti più scure della prima foto, quindi il volto verrà impresso sulle foglie e sarà meno visibile nel cielo al di sopra dell'albero, perchè appunto è più chiaro;
    7 - Modalità BULB --> si utilizza per effettuare delle lunghe esposizioni notturne alle scie luminose delle macchine, dei fuochi d'artificio o altri giochi artistici con le fiamme e quindi l'otturatore della macchina rimane aperto per molti secondi a nostra scelta in base alla quantità di luce (max 10 sec.); per questa modalità è necessario che la macchina rimanga completamente immobile per tutta la durata dello scatto, altrimenti usciranno delle foto mosse, per tale motivo serve o un cavalletto oppure un ripiano solido su cui appoggiare la instax.
    NB: evitate di utilizzarla durante il giorno o quando c'è ancora abbastanza luce perché le foto vi usciranno bianche in quanto l'otturatore, rimanendo aperto per secondi, cattura una enorme quantità di luce.

    REGOLAZIONE DELL'ESPOSIZIONE:
    1 - AUTOMATICA --> nessuna impostazione manuale di regolazione dell'esposizione (non bisogna cliccare alcun pulsante) quindi sarà la macchina, attraverso l'esposimetro, a regolare l'esposizione in base alla luminosità della situazione;
    2 - LIGHT --> si utilizza quando si scatta in zone ombreggiate o con poca luce per schiarire la foto (anche al tramonto si può rivelare molto utile);
    3 - LIGHT + --> si utilizza quando si scatta in zone con scarsissima luce o al tramonto del sole per schiarire ancora di più la foto rispetto all’uso dell’opzione precedente (sia in "light" che "light +" l'otturatore rimarrà aperto per un tempo superiore rispetto all'impostazione automatica per catturare più luce);
    4 - DARK --> si utilizza quando si scatta in una situazione di luce piena o addirittura eccessiva o più semplicemente se si vuole rendere più deciso il contrasto della foto; l'otturatore rimarrà aperto per un tempo inferiore rispetto all'impostazione automatica per catturare meno luce.

    REGOLAZIONE DEL FLASH:
    1 - AUTOMATICA --> nessuna impostazione manuale di regolazione del flash (non bisogna cliccare alcun pulsante) quindi il flash si attiva o si disattiva autonomamente in base alla luminosità della situazione; io sconsiglio di laciare il flash in automatico perchè quasi sempre si attiva quando non è desiderato o ci si aspetta che non parta (ad esempio di giorno con luce solare se il flash dovesse partire brucerebbe i volti delle persone in primo piano, se invece si scattano foto a soggetti distanti o a panorami allora il flash non arrivando così lontano non causa troppi problemi);
    2 - ATTIVO ("Fill in") --> si utilizza quando si desidera la luce del flash;
    3 - ATTIVO CON RIMOZIONE DEGLI OCCHI ROSSI --> si utilizza quando si desidera la luce del flash e per evitare gli occhi rossi (quando devo attivare il flash utilizzo sempre questa imposrazione anziché la precedente);
    4 - DISATTIVO (Flash of) --> si utilizza quando non si vuole la luce del flash, ovvero durante il giorno lo sconsiglio assolutamente perchè non fa altro che bruciare i volti o le parti bianche o chiare del soggetto se questo si trova vicino all'obbiettivo della macchina.

    AUTOSCATTO:
    1 - UNA SOLA RIPRESA --> dopo 10 secondi dall'attivazione verrà scattata la foto;
    2 - DUE RIPRESE CONTINUE --> dopo 10 secondi dall'attivazione verrà scattata la prima foto e dopo altri 2 secondi verrà scattata la seconda foto.

    Queste sono le funzionalità che rendono così bella e sfiziosa questa macchina e se devo trovarci un difetto è l'errore di parallasse tra mirino ed obbiettivo è questa cosa purtroppo la ritroviamo praticamente in tutte le istantanee, un po' meno nelle polaroid ma siamo li. Come si può notare osservando il lato anteriore della macchina, si nota che il mirino non è centrato con l'obbiettivo ma si trova spostato alla sinistra. Questa cosa crea non pochi problemi durante i primi scatti poiché ciò che si va ad inquadrare nel mirino non è ciò che si otterrà nella foto stampata, ovvero se nel mirino il soggetto è perfettamente centrato, nella foto risulterà decentrato. Il mio consiglio è di fare i primi scatti ad un soggetto compreso fra 30 cm e 1 metro, inquadrarlo nel mirino, distogliere l'occhio dal mirino tenendo la fotocamera immobile e notare come l'obbiettivo non sia centrato al soggetto e quindi correggere questa cosa cercando di centrare l'obbiettIvo spostando la fotocamera e a questo punto scattare. Con i soggetti vicini questa cosa risulterà facile, meno facile sarà per le foto fatte a panorami, ma niente paura, basta capire da che lato si presenta l'errore e spostare di conseguenza la macchina. Più facile ancora sarà se vi affidate ad un cavalletto.
    Nonostante questo difettuccio, la mia impressione fin ora è decisamente positiva, anche se io sono di parte perchè ho sempre amato le macchine fotografiche analogiche e ancora di più le istantanee. Consiglio assolutamente la instax mini 90 agli appassionati come me!
