Instead of polyurethane foams, Avocado mattresses feature GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex (CU 863637) rubber foam from sustainably harvested from our facilities in India and Guatemala. Our new Box-Top plush model adds two layers of FSC-certified Talalay latex.
MADE WITHOUT WOOL
Our Avocado Vegan Mattress replaces the wool used in our Green Mattress with USDA organic certified cotton. No wool or animal-based products are used anywhere in our Vegan Mattress. Best of all, it still meets all federal flammability standards.

Our luxurious, button-tufted mattress covers are made with breathable GOTS-certified organic cotton (CU 863637) — one of the softest and most comfortable fabrics. Organic cotton is cool, wicks away moisture, and, better still, is more sustainable than conventional cotton.

With a gentle yet firm feel, our standard Avocado Vegan Mattress sets the standard for affordable ecoluxury. At 11-inches thick, with 3 inches of GOLS-certified organic latex rubber foam, it delivers balanced firmness, comfort, and support. It’s ideal for back and stomach sleepers and average to large/tall side sleepers. To adjust the feel, you can add a mattress topper at any time.

For a luxury, plush feel, you can upgrade your Vegan Mattress with an attached European-style pillowtop, filled with an additional 2-inch layer of GOLS organic certified latex rubber foam — for a total of 5 inches. At 13 inches thick, it’s ideal for all side and combination sleepers, and those needing more pressure relief or a luxurious feel.
VEGAN CERTIFIED
Vegan Action (the Vegan Awareness Foundation) in Richmond, Virginia, has certified our Vegan Mattress. It is also a PETA-approved product. That means our vegan mattresses are third-party validated not to contain wool or other animal products or byproducts that have been tested on animals. Instead of wool, we use a generous layer of USDA certified organic cotton batting.

BY HAND
Avocado mattresses feature our distinctive, needle-tufted rosettes made from soft, white organic cotton — a hallmark of quality. We pull cotton ribbons through every layer of the mattress in up to 32 locations, held in place by the rosettes. Needle-tufting is a time-honored technique dating back to the 17th century. Because of hand tufting, no chemical adhesives are used to bind the layers together, which also radically improves durability.

The secret to our superior ergonomic support and durability is our best-in-class innerspring unit, a patent-pending design we make ourselves. It features up to 1,459 steel coils, individually encased in fabric pockets and arranged in multiple gauges and seven distinct zones. With coils that float independently, it boasts a reinforced steel perimeter for improved edge support. This system reduces motion transfer, keeps your back aligned, relieves back pain, distributes weight more evenly, alleviates pressure points, and contours your body’s natural curves.
