A: Hello AG! Thank you for reaching out about the Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 50 Body Lotion. We do not recommend to use this on the face due to the different skin on the face and body. We suggest using the Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 50 Face Lotion which can be applied underneath makeup and water-based products. At times, if this very hydrating product is layered under or over another hydrating skincare product that has not fully absorbed into skin, it can cause the product to ball up or “pill”. To help avoid this, we recommend allowing the first product you apply in your skincare routine to fully dry and absorb into skin until it feels dry to the touch before layering on the next product. I bought this sunscreen for my 10-year-old child, but I'm really disappointed with it. The formula is so waxy that it doesn't rub into the skin at all. No matter how much I rub it in, it just won't melt into the skin, which is honestly absurd. While I understand this sunscreen is intended for the body, I don't want to be left with a thick layer of paste on my child's skin. I've used generic sunscreens in the past that absorb easily with a bit of rubbing, but the CeraVe Hydrating Mineral Sunscreen simply does not. This has been the worst sunscreen I've ever tried. It seems like they might be cautious about it being used on the face, which is why they made it so difficult to blend into the skin. However, most people typically have one SPF for their faces and another one for their families.

I usually really like this brand—I regularly use their moisturizer and hand cream. But the sunscreen was disappointing. It’s too white, has a thick texture, and doesn’t spread evenly on the skin. It doesn’t look good under makeup and leaves a noticeable white cast on my tattoos. It might work well for the beach, but it’s not the best option for everyday use in the city.
Very good UV protector, I recommend it!

Comparable to "Think Baby," CeraVe's mineral sunscreen provides the coverage and protection needed for my child. It's also more cost-effective and easier to apply, in my opinion. It's gentle and doesn't seem to irritate our toddler's skin. Think Baby is still our go-to but we always have a bottle of this on hand in case of emergencies!

I've been using this sunscreen for years, because it seems to be the only one that doesn't give me any kind of rash or cause breakouts. I know it works well as a sunblock, because I once spent some hours on a beach and only realized afterward that I had missed a spot on my leg--that little bit got a burn that didn't go away for weeks, while the rest of my skin, that had been CeraVe'd, was the same as before. Luckily I'm pretty pale to begin with, so the white cast blends better on me than it seems to on a lot of people; I don't find it a big problem, but maybe it could be a little better in that respect, and it's also rather expensive, so I'm taking off a star. Note: don't dilute it with lotion or anything, or you will lose some of the sun protection.

I will start by going over what is fine with the product. The scent is light and not like the typical sunscreen scent. Packaging is cute and compact. I've always like CeraVe. Your brand is dependable and straight forward, however, this is the first CeraVe product that I've used that did not deliver. This sunscreen is very disappointing. It leaves a white cast that does not blend out. The formula dries very fast, so even attempting to blend out the product doesn't help. The name states "Hydrating" but there is no hydrating feel at all. This also leaves residue on other items like my clothes, doors, and car interior. I've tried to make this product work by making sure that I moisturize before applying it, but it still doesn't blend well and leaves a white cast. I'm not really picky with my products and will use what I don't love until it runs out, but I can't do that for this product and I will be throwing it out.

This sunscreen smells horrible. It reminds me rubber or a tire. It also has a terrible white cast. I immediatley wiped off my arms as soon as I put it on.

My husband is a golfer and has sensitive skin. We bought Cerave hydrating mineral sunscreen spf 50 for the body when we were in Cleveland. He will not use it anymore as it leaves a white residue on his skin so that he has a ghost like appearance. It does not seem to be absorbed. He was very disappointed as he needs to protect his face and arms. He thought it was an above average sunscreen.

It was drying and did not rub in at all. Would not wash off with soap and water. Still had white cast. Had to rub body oil over and over Wash rinse repeat. Over and over to get it off.

I thought this would be a good sunscreen and spread more smoothly because it says it's hydrating and I really like that spf facial moisturizer, but unfortuntaley it's the worst mineral sunscreen I have ever used. It does not spread at all, in fact I even bruised myself trying to get it to blend into my skin without looking like I smeared diaper ointment on me! It feels really drying too. No hydration at all. I have extremly pasty white skin and usually white cast is no issue for me but this was so hard to apply it just leaves an obvious white layer no matter what! Wish I hadn't wasted my money on this.

This sunscreen is unfortunately the reason why most people, who came across it, don’t like wearing sunscreen at all. The idea of the product was nice, you would want to have some options for people with sensitive skin or for those who don’t want to use progressive chemical filters. Chemical doesn’t mean toxic, there are many “natural” things that are toxic and dangerous for us, and we’re made of chemicals, as everything around us. So, in 2024 this sunscreen has no excuse to be the way it is, with all modern, safe and pleasant to use ingredients to put your product together. This may work as a body sunscreen if you’re on a beach, where the white residue on your skin is acceptable. But you absolutely don’t want to put it on your face, no. Its consistency is thick and blocking pores, so you may get breakouts if you don’t double cleanse with hyrdophilic balm or oil, and then with your regular face-wash. It has the worst ever white residue, so even I with my light-to-fair skin look like a ghost when I apply it and rub this product in my skin trying to blend it. People with deeper skin tones would absolutely feel left out with this mess, while they also need to protect their skin from sun damage. This product fails to be inclusive. The only good things about this product are its packaging, the absence of any scent, and it actually works for sun protection, so I will give it an additional star for this. But overall, I would recommend you finding some alternatives for this product. Luckily for us, there are enough far better (even mineral) products to play with.
