The metal stand doesn’t lay flat.
It has really strong magnets and does a great job of attaching to my MacBook Pro, but the metal bit used to stand your phone up doesn’t close all the way on the one they sent me. It just permanently slightly sticks out and is really annoying

Works great until it breaks
The iPhone Mount works great for the Continuity Cam feature of MacOS. When it was new, the magnet's hold felt very secure and the whole thing would lay flat on the back of the phone.
However, after just 4-5 months of very light use (rarely opened the ring grip), something inside it seems to have broken because the ring grip no longer lies flat and the magnetic side of the mount does not lie flush against the phone, which makes me think the magnet won't hold securely and will drop my phone 4ft to the tile floor below, which would destroy the phone.
I'm not sure how widespread the issue is, so maybe I'm the only unlucky one. I would have given it 5 stars if I had rated it in the first month or two because of how nice of a feature Continuity Cam is.

Is this mount compatible with the iPhone 15 Pro Max? I do not see it listed in the list of compatible phones.
Hi, quizboy. The Belkin MMA006 is designed to work with MagSafe compatible phones and official MagSafe cases, as well as 2017 and newer MacBook models. However, the compatibility for the iPhone 15 product line is not yet confirmed. We will update the list once testing is done.

Do you have to remove the mount to use a MagSafe charger to charge the device?
Yes, EdP1212. You may require to remove the mount when charging your compatible phone.

What is the maximum thickness of the screen to use the continuity camera, in other words, can this work on a thin external monitor?
On the box it says: Works with MacBook Air (2018 and later) and MacBook Pro (2017 and later). The hook (or whatever you call it) is quite thin, only about 3mm, and will likely not work with any external screens.
