Can I connect Nanoleaf Shapes with the Nanoleaf Light Panels or Nanoleaf Canvas?

No, the Nanoleaf Shapes are not compatible with Light Panels or Canvas. You can connect any shapes together - Hexagons, Triangles,& Mini Triangles. All of our products can operate together in the Nanoleaf App even if they're not physically connected.

How panels are mounted to the wall? Will they damage my wall?

Mount your panels with the included double-sided tape onto any smooth and flat surface. When you mount them, leave the ends of the tape sticking out from the Mounting Plate so you can pull them along the wall later for a safe and easy removal.

Are Nanoleaf lights waterproof?

No, Nanoleaf products are NOT waterproof or water resistant. Our lights and adhesives are not designed to be exposed to high levels of humidity, and are therefore not recommended to be placed in washrooms, near the sink in kitchens, or outdoors.

What is the difference between a Smarter Kit and an Expansion Pack?

Every Nanoleaf Smarter Kit has everything you need to set up the lights. It includes a Controller and a Power Supply unlike Nanoleaf Expansion Packs. An Expansion Pack is an addition to a Smarter Kit which cannot be used without owning a Smarter Kit.

What is the maximum amount of panels that will work with the included 42W Power Supply?

The maximum amount of panels per included Power Supply is 22 for the Hexagons, 28 for the Triangles, and 77 for the Mini Triangles. If you are ever in doubt, check out the PSU Calculator on our website.

I recently purchased this for my Daughter as a birthday gift for her 13th birthday. I purchased this along with the Nanoleaf Shapes lights; the Nanoleaf Smart Remote Control, which is in the shape of a dodecahedron (as in a 12-sided dice). I don't write many reviews. I don't have the time. However, I needed to write this. I am an electrician and I install a lot of lighting; automated lighting systems; and RGBW (Red, Green, Blue, White) LED Products; both with and without intelligent control/user interfaces.This product is, by far the best of any automated RGBW lighting product I have ever seen, let alone installed. I didn't believe it would be as easy to install, program, and use, but it is all three. It is easy to install, it is easy to program, and it is easy to use. The intuitive control using their 'Smart Remote Control' is nothing short of Amazing! I highly recommend you purchase the Remote Control with the lights by default. (I always tell my clients to have a physical hard button device to use to interface with their automated lighting products, so you're not always running for your phone).END RESULT: My 13 year old Daughter was beyond ecstatic!! She is so very thrilled with these lights, and never stops using them, it's been one week and every day she finds more they can do, and more she can do with them. To be honest, I don't see her interest fading.. as she wanted something like this for over a year, and I don't see her "growing out" of the novelty of having them even in the next 3 years. I actually believe I'm jealous, and now want some for my office.. they're really that cool. You can do anything imaginable with these Lights. Use them to wake up, go to bed, relax, workout, game, listen to music, and entertain. Ok, I've said enough... Go buy them already, you know you've had them in the cart for days! Enjoy!

Nanoleaf has the original modern gamer/ambience lights, and absolutely everyone who can, needs a set.

This picture has the original 7-light starter pack (this product), plus 6 other 3-hex expansion packs for a total of 25 lights, so don't think you get that many with this one purchase! But know that once you start, it's hard to stop; this wall is almost filled, and I have 12 Nanoleaf lines in another room and another set of 7 hex lights at another house.

The lights are bright, colorful, customizable, fairly easy to install, and interactive & epic. The app is great, but connectivity issues when starting up are hardly unheard of, as well.

One note from someone that has way too many Nanoleaf lights for the good of their wallet, is that adding expansion packs is somewhat hard with the Hex lights due to having to pry up one end of the existing panel to slip the connector underneath and add on another panel, while expanding on Nanoleaf Lines is way simpler due to just taking the cap off the connectors and snapping on a new light bar!

These lights change the whole look of a room, and are something everyone can admire (especially with the lights low and music going, letting the lights flow or pop with the pace of the song!). Get them if you can, because I know I won't be buying my last set anytime soon either!

My 13 yr old LOVES this. Pretty cool and mesmerizing. It was a little tricky to set up (make sure to put the plug attachment in BEFORE adhering to the wall). Wish it came with an extra adhesive in case of an oopsie. **SIDE NOTE: the adhesive is so strong that it will remove wall paint and texture down to the drywall, so triple check your design before starting.

6 months later, new firmware update makes it non-functional. The shapes just glow white and controller reports that it does not detect tiles. Like before, customer support (after taking a week due to never-ending transition they have with IT) takes a week to respond and then sends me new controller (now I have 4!). Needless to say, that new controller also does not work. Customer support is silent as usual.
And if you google their reddit, you will see that it is a common issue and repeating pattern.
Not sure what happened to this company, but it is as bad as it gets now. Overpriced products which do not work.

Got it almost a year ago. Now, while still on warranty, the control block failed - just stopped doing anything except chaotically blinking in blue status light. Turns out this is the common issue and customer support was quick to offer replacement. But that is as far as it goes. They created order and it is two weeks not and it is still not shipped. Every time I contact them, they either say something that "orders ship in 3-5 days" or they ignore you.

And that is typical behavior they have. In a fall, when daylight savings time transition happened, all schedules got stuck on old time. I have resetted it, tried updating, nothing helped. Contacted support and they responded - it two months. Asking if I still have a problem. I said yes, and they disappeared again.

When it comes to mounting it is another issue. The double-sided tape they ship with product is too short. Good luck puling it out if you need to dismount it. In most of the cases it comes off with paint and drywall. Get better one (with tabs) and use instead.

Otherwise, it is good product. In terms of build quality, probably, the best. But it is very outdated, and LEDs are better today.

The biggest issues are software and customer support.

I recently purchased this for my Daughter as a birthday gift for her 13th birthday. I purchased this along with the Nanoleaf Shapes lights; the Nanoleaf Smart Remote Control, which is in the shape of a dodecahedron (as in a 12-sided dice). I don't write many reviews. I don't have the time. However, I needed to write this. I am an electrician and I install a lot of lighting; automated lighting systems; and RGBW (Red, Green, Blue, White) LED Products; both with and without intelligent control/user interfaces.

This product is, by far the best of any automated RGBW lighting product I have ever seen, let alone installed. I didn't believe it would be as easy to install, program, and use, but it is all three. It is easy to install, it is easy to program, and it is easy to use. The intuitive control using their 'Smart Remote Control' is nothing short of Amazing! I highly recommend you purchase the Remote Control with the lights by default. (I always tell my clients to have a physical hard button device to use to interface with their automated lighting products, so you're not always running for your phone).

END RESULT: My 13 year old Daughter was beyond ecstatic!! She is so very thrilled with these lights, and never stops using them, it's been one week and every day she finds more they can do, and more she can do with them. To be honest, I don't see her interest fading.. as she wanted something like this for over a year, and I don't see her "growing out" of the novelty of having them even in the next 3 years. I actually believe I'm jealous, and now want some for my office.. they're really that cool. You can do anything imaginable with these Lights. Use them to wake up, go to bed, relax, workout, game, listen to music, and entertain. Ok, I've said enough... Go buy them already, you know you've had them in the cart for days! Enjoy!
