Optimized for the Amount You Need
The KBGV Select is the only coffee brewer certified to brew both a half and full carafe to the Specialty Coffee Association's Golden Cup Standard. What that means to you - the most delicious coffee possible, no matter which amount you brew.

Tested and Approved
We evaluate Moccamaster coffee brewers across the four T’s of coffee brewing: temperature, time, turbulence, and total dissolved solids (TDS). A brewer that performs within the ideal ranges of the four T’s produces the perfect ratio of coffee flavor compounds extracted into water, which the SCA refers to as “the golden cup.” That ratio creates the flavors we enjoy when we sit back with a good cup of coffee, and every Moccamaster hits that mark every brew cycle.
The Coffee Brewer for Coffee Lovers
Since 1968, Moccamaster coffee brewers have set the global benchmark for at-home coffee brewing. Designed to extract the maximum flavor from your grounds in about 4-6 minutes, coffee from a Moccamaster is comparable to what you would brew using a more complex manual process or drink in a café.
We build our coffee brewers to last, using only the highest quality materials and offering replacement parts. With proper care and maintenance, this should be the last coffee brewer you ever need to buy.
- Moccamaster coffee brewers are handmade in heart of the Netherlands.
- Our brewers have a durable metal housing and use a copper boiling element to heat the water, which allows for consistent water temperature control.
- All plastics are BPA, BPS, BPF, and phthalate-free.
- We individually test every brewer before it leaves our factory.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2025Size: 10-CupColor: Polished SilverVerified PurchaseThe coffee maker arrived pretty well packaged. Some assembly was required, but it was pretty simple. I ran it a couple of times with filtered water to clean out dust or stuff left behind in the manufacturing process, then I decided to make my first pot of coffee on it. I don't have a scale to measure out the exact amount of coffee to use, so I followed the instructions which said 7 scoops for 10 cups of coffee. This turned out to be a little too much, my coffee came out way too strong. But it smelled and tasted better than any coffee I'd ever had on my Cuisinart brewer. I love the aesthetics of the Moccamaster, it's kind of retro. It all feels very sturdy, even the plastic has a solid feel to it, nothing feels loose or out of place. It's smaller than I'd expected, but that's not a bad thing. Honestly, so far I'm pretty impressed. I'd definitely recommend it if you're okay spending a lot of money on a well built coffee maker with a great reputation.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2024Size: 10-CupColor: Rose GoldVerified PurchaseThe media could not be loaded.
I have had Cuisinart coffee makers for years and I am so tired of having to buy a new Cuisinart after a couple of years of use when it begins to malfunction. I have had to return brand new Cuisinart coffee makers as they didn't work right and then wait for the replacement. Don't know why I was so loyal to the brand. Maybe because they used to be much better and lasted longer.
This Moccamaster has a five year warranty - that tells you something right there (don't forget to register yours if you purchase one - they have an online form). It's made in the Netherlands with meticulous crafting and testing. It's nice looking. It's easy to clean. It's fast. It makes hot coffee. It's smaller so it fits on my countertop nicely without taking up a lot of room.
At first I wasn't sure if I'd like the Rose Gold even though it is pretty, but I've come to like it and it's a change from the stainless steel I've had for years. And, the Rose Gold was $60 less, so there's that!
Keep in mind that though this carafe holds ten cups, this is ten 4 ounce cups, not 6-8 ounce mugs. Fine by me as I drink a few mugs in the morning and then I'm done, and I'm the only one drinking coffee.
These take paper filters - I've used a gold filter for many years because I don't like tossing things in the landfill. However, two things: my gold filter does fit in there should I want to use it; and you can rinse the paper filters and reuse them a few times. Between those two things, less in the landfill.
There is research to indicate that using paper filters doesn't affect your cholesterol levels like the gold permanent filters. So something to think about. However using the paper filters does affect taste to some degree - I have to get used to the more 'smoother' taste of the coffee without the oils. But on the good side, there's not the sludgy stuff at the bottom of my cup, and no coffee grounds escaping into my cup.
Though it indicates to use fresh ground beans, I use both fresh ground and already ground. The fresh ground can taste better, but sometimes the already ground is convenient and easy and right there, and on sale.
This is so easy to use right out of the box, once you put the parts in place.
This is a no frills type coffee maker - there isn't a timer but I never used the timer on my Cuisinart, not once, so I don't miss that feature at all. There's no clock but why do I need a clock? I don't even have clocks in my house other than what is on my stove and cable box. There's two buttons: one to select half pot or full pot, and the on/off button.
The plug is weird. You have to kind of turn it partially sideways. It was annoying at first but now I just do it and don't think about it. Cord is short, which I like. Hate snaking cords - I like the cord hidden behind the coffee maker and this one stays behind just great.
What I also like is there isn't those two deep dark areas that are difficult to get to and clean like in the Cuisinart and many other coffee machines. No matter how much I cleaned the machine, I always wondered how clean it really was down in there where you pour the water and where the brewing happens I guess. Here you can see where the water is, and it only goes through the stainless steel 'arm' and then down the little funnel and into the grounds. Cleaning is simple. There is no coffee going inside the machine anywhere.
They suggest descaling it about every 3 months using a descaler and not vinegar. I never liked to use vinegar anyway.
Out of the box I 'brewed' water only 3 times (they suggest 2) to be sure any factory dust or whatever was gone.
It's quiet. No loud beeping when it's done. No loud gargling gurgles. Though you can hear it gently brewing. And you can see the bubbles coming up in the water - it happens fast!
Mine has a warming plate. I don't know if all of the models have it. The KBGV Select has a full pot or half pot selection. I used the half pot selection this morning when I brewed about a half pot and my coffee tasted better than when I used the full pot selection on half a pot - so it does something.
I'm happy with mine and glad I finally purchased it after doing so much reading and research on coffee machines - for months! -- the Moccamaster kept coming up over and over in the Best Coffee Makers lists - and often number 1.
If you are on the fence, hop on over, if you don't mind the price and don't mind it's a no-frills machine. The best part of it is the quality - I shouldn't have to buy another coffee machine for many many years!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2025Size: 10-CupColor: Matte BlackVerified PurchaseIn brief:
-Makes wonderful coffee quickly.
-I was initially disappointed with the carafe. Seemed flimsy and the handle ergonomics are not good. For such an expensive unit it seemed like a big miss. At least make a handle that feels good in your hand. I’m over this now because of the coffee quality. Also, don’t try to pour fast.
-Needs more ground coffee than what we used with the Cuisinart - but it’s worth it!
-1.25L (42oz) is not a lot of coffee, but it brews quickly. Seems like a European cup is 4 oz while it’s 6 in the US.
Had a Cuisinart drip unit for years, which took a long time to brew and made ok coffee. My spouse works at a local coffee company and we get whole beans cheap, that said, we still preferred Starbucks Verona.
We purchased the (expensive) Moccamaster on sale ($100 off) and used their recipe of 7 scoops per pot (1.25L) - WOW! The coffee brewed quickly and was delicious. We now prefer the locally roasted coffee to Verona and have settled on 6 slightly rounded scoops for a full pot. We buy dark roast whole beans and use an OXO burr grinder set to medium. Brew time is around 6 minutes.
I expect this to be the last coffee maker we ever buy. If you like coffee, buy one.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2025Size: 10-CupColor: Polished SilverVerified PurchaseI got rid of my Breville Brewmaster Precision Brewer and replaced it with the Moccamaster KBGV Select. I couldn't be happier. First and foremost the brewmaster allowed for setting the temp but never made a cup hotter than 136 degrees unless you brewed a half carafe or more (approx, 32 ounces). Granted, the Brewmaster is bigger but what is the point of having a temp setting if it doesn't work. I wasted a ton of coffee just to get something hot (and no, the microwave ruins the coffee).
This beautiful unit however can brew a single cup at a piping 186 degrees within 4 minutes; and it tastes great! The only downside is that you have no control over the bloom. Basically blooming is soaking the beans for a set amount of time before releasing to the carafe. I typically bloom for about 30 seconds. But here is a trick, start the brew before putting the carafe under the maker and you have a poor man's bloom! I never wait long enough to have it overflow over the top. This is pretty much unnecessary on this coffee pot as the coffee comes out great every time.
Finally I have found a simple coffee pot that simply does what it was designed for without over architecting needless technology or any gimmicks.
Some other tips:
Never put tap water into these machines. Use distilled water and you will rarely if ever have to descale the unit.
If you grind your own beans you can simply set the grinder to a set time for the measure. No need to use the spoon or anything.
Everybody has a favorite coffee roaster. I stumbled upon Two Brothers out of Chicago and they have a consist process that gives me exactly what I am looking for in coffee. I use other brands for espresso.
Enjoy your coffee!!!

Size: 10-CupColor: Stone GreyVerified PurchaseOur grind and brew machine died on us and so we started using a French press and/or Areo press. Both options worked fine, but I like to make a pot in the morning so my wife can have a cup, and I can take the rest to work in a thermos.
I started watching reviews on drip coffee makers and came across this unit. Everything about it was appealing.
-THE LOOK- Aesthetically, it's stunning. Timeless, classic look. It's very clean, the textured finish looks very durable, doesn't finger print, and the color choices are excellent. (I wanted the pistachio color but once I pulled the trigger couldn't wait for it to be shipped so opted for my second choice). While brewing it looks neat as the water bubbles up the center column and into the outlet.
-THE BREWING OPTIONS- Very basic controls, but the half pot select allows you to not only brew a half pot, but modifies blooming duration. From there the sky is the limit with grind options and strength without all the buttons and programming. It's also pretty fast- full pot in 6 minutes.
-THE TASTE- I've had it 5 days and have made 7-8 pots... It's the best tasting coffee (obviously the beans, grind and everything can make the difference... but when I have a Tim Hortons or Starbucks it's just not the same) and I drink black coffee.
-THE DESIGN- If it ain't broke... this design has been around for 50 years and is hand made in the Netherlands and comes with a 5 year warranty. It's not ground breaking but that's the point. Keep it simple. Quality parts, copper heating element, and separate elements for water heating and the carafe. The removable water outlet arm is a nice touch if it gets a fingerprint on it or if your need to clean- simply pop off.
-THE PRICE- Ok, so this is super expensive for "just a coffee brewer" but personally I'd rather spend big money on a quality piece that has service able parts, rather than a machine 1/3 the price that may only last 2-4 years. This is a lifetime machine if cared for. Personally I drink at least 3 large black coffees/ day. Starbucks dark roast black is $4.00 CAD. It'll pay for itself in no time.
-THE ONLY NEGATIVE- The glass carafe seems really fragile and thin. I'm paranoid it will break. I do not allow anyone to operate my machine as I'm scared they wouldn't be as careful as I when I rinse it.
So if you buy pre ground coffee and want an easy pot of coffee, or like to grind fresh and experiment in grams per liter, ground size etc... but must have the best- buy this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rota y Sucia - Broken and Dirty
The product came damaged! It's a shame that after seeing so many reviews of this excellent product it comes this way. I gave myself the opportunity to make such a big expense and I am very disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best coffee maker I've owned in 50 years
Size: 10-CupColor: BlackVerified PurchaseEasy to use, easy to clean and makes great hot coffee very rapidly. We enjoy the simplicity of the unit, it's all optimized to deliver great tasting hot coffee, so no need for various nobs that we would never use in any case. We also appreciate the absence of a clock which in many other coffee makers only servers to add un-needed light to the kitchen. We make coffee every morning for two (with 2 regular cups each) in under 5 minutes. For 4 or more people, you'll probably need to make two pots. A consideration if you need large volumes of coffee on a regular basis. The makers have put a lot of attention to many details to the coffee maker including reducing the noise it generates (although it make coffee very rapidly, this is the most quiet brewing machine that we have ever seen). The absence of styrofoam in the environmenally friendly packaging was also nice to see. Yes it is expensive but it's a great machine with a 5 year garantee that we have found is well worth the cost for a great cup of coffee.
